Oh No, Daddy Sent Me To The Beast World!-Chapter 16: The Forest’s Spices and The Fox’s Jealous Tail 1
The forest air felt damp and heavy, and the leaves above blocked the sun so well that the light on the ground looked like scattered gold, and Lin Huahua felt like she had stepped into a completely different kind of world, because the Starborne Empire forests were clean and controlled, but this one felt wild, alive, and dangerous in a way that made her alert.
Feng Yiren walked beside her with a basket in hand, but he did not look relaxed at all, because his eyes kept scanning the bushes, and his ears kept twitching, and his tail swayed behind him like it was ready to attack something.
Even though this rat female has always been abusive to them in the past. It was still his responsibility to protect her from wild beasts and other males.
Lin Huahua noticed.
So this fox is always acting arrogant, but he actually pays attention. Hmm maybe he’s not so bad after all.
That thought made her feel slightly amused.
She kept her hands behind her back like a princess walking with guards, because she wanted to look calm and confident, even though she was internally repeating one thing over and over.
Please let me find spices quickly, because I am not surviving on plain meat like a tragic side character.
Lin Huahua could not help but pray. She also could not stop thinking about a way to get her father to finally contact her so that she can beg him and finally leave this world.
Although this world was not that bad, compared to her advanced sci-fi universe, she had to walk everywhere in this one.
There was nothing to protect her from the sun and now she even had to go hunting by herself!
Well it wasn’t literally hunting but you understand.
If things went on like this, was that not suicidal?! How would she be able to survive in a world like this.
She could not handle this is type of punishment from her father so when she gets a chance to contact him she will use that opportunity and beg him seriously.
Humph, I’ll simply act cute and blink my eyes. Let’s see how that old man will be able to resist me.
Feng Yiren glanced at her from the corner of his eyes.
In his mind, he kept telling himself that he was only doing this because she was his responsibility, and because if she died, the village would blame him and the rat king will execute him on the spot (Even though a few hours ago he had specifically made a special prayers to the heavens telling them to naturally take her away), and because Mu Qingyi would probably cry.
But the truth was, he could not stop watching her. She was suddenly really cute. In the past all he saw was a white demonic rat.
Now for some reason it was the other way round.
Her ears twitched when she got curious. And her tail swayed when she got excited, It was also really fluffy in a white cute way.
And the worst part was that she looked too tiny and adorable walking like she owned the forest.
He clicked his tongue again, annoyed at himself.
"This female is too confident," Feng Yiren thought, "and she is too dumb to understand danger." Feng Yiren could only thank the heavens he came with her.
If not she might really get into trouble as usual again.
Lin Huahua suddenly stopped.
Feng Yiren immediately stopped too.
"What," he asked sharply, ready to grab her if she did something stupid.
Lin Huahua pointed at a plant near a rock.
It had small leaves and a strong smell that even reached her nose from where she stood.
Her eyes brightened.
"That," Lin Huahua whispered. "That smells like spice."
Feng Yiren frowned.
"Do not touch it," he warned immediately, because he had seen too many females die by grabbing random things.
Lin Huahua turned her head and stared at him.
"Why are you always talking like I am a baby," she complained.
"Because you act like one," Feng Yiren replied without hesitation.
Lin Huahua’s cheeks puffed up in annoyance, because she hated being spoken to like she was helpless, even if she technically was helpless here.
So she silently called her system again.
"System."
{Princess, are you about to do something reckless?} the system asked, sounding suspiciously excited.
Lin Huahua ignored the tone and focused.
"I need to know if this plant is safe," she demanded in her mind.
{Princess, I am not here to do everything for you,} the system replied, then it added in a cute voice, {but remember like I said earlier your survival knowledge should handle something this simple, so check your mind and do not embarrass me.}
Lin Huahua: "..."
So now even the system is judging me.
Lin Huahua closed her eyes for a second and focused again, and the knowledge surfaced smoothly, telling her how to identify safe herbs by smell, by leaf pattern, and by sap color.
She opened her eyes and looked at the plant again.
Her expression turned confident.
"It is safe," Lin Huahua said out loud.
Feng Yiren stared at her, shocked.
"How do you know," he demanded, because in the past she had tried eating a poisonous fruit simply because it looked good.
Without a care for her life and the tribe almost lose their precious last princess.
Lin Huahua lifted her chin proudly.
"I just know."
Feng Yiren did not believe her at all, but he watched her carefully as she crouched slowly, and he positioned himself behind her like a predator ready to pull her back.
Lin Huahua reached out, but she did it carefully this time, and she pinched the stem gently, then snapped it cleanly.
The smell was strong.
She smiled like she found treasure.
"Yes," Lin Huahua muttered happily, "this will definitely make meat taste like a real meal."
Feng Yiren stared at her smile for a second, and his heart did something strange, because he had never seen her smile at something so simple, and it made her look less like a cruel princess and more like a soft female trying to survive.
