Chapter 509: BOOOOOOOOOO!

Just as it fell, the three bullies stepped forward, forming a loose semi-circle around Arthur.

Anyone could tell they were hoping to use numbers to their advantage, but Arthur didn't even shift his stance to combat that.

He simply looked at each of them, his gaze calm.

Known to no one but his classmates, professors, Amon, and a few random others, he had become a class ten, a Rune Artificer.

The boy who previously hadn't even known that he was an Elemental Enchanter was now something a step above that.

Though he was still an Ascendant Elite-because he had lost a large chunk of his Aether reserves during the third minor disaster- his new cyber augments more than made up for it.

No one knew exactly how much strength he gained from them, but a sharp eye could estimate by catching the faint differences in the skin on his forearms-thin patches revealing that both arms, though covered with realistic fake skin, had been mostly replaced with something stronger.

That wasn't all.

His martial arts were refined-layered with his absurd luck. And said luck, it seemed, had turned from a life-saving buffer into a weapon, his strongest one.

Arthur's eyes flicked from one bully to the next, and if he felt even a twinge of concern, it didn't show. Instead, he seemed to be sizing them up, calculating, and waiting.

Then, as the one on the left moved a step, Arthur made his move.

{×××××}, glowed brightly on his augmented suit, and his body flashed forward.

Whether accidentally or not, that move had him dodge the first attack, a secret Iron Fist that decimated where he just was.

Their attacks didn't stop there, the one Arthur rushed towards had welcomed him with a right sucker punch, aiming to lob his head clean off.

A twist and sidestep was all that he needed to evade the attack.

His arm quickly lashed out right after, enhanced with multiple {☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐ enchantments.

The first bully felt the punch land square in his ribs, the force sending him staggering backward, doubling over as blood coughed out his mouth.

He was a goner, but Arthur didn't stop there.

His left leg lashed out, kicking his head into the ground, knocking him out cold.

In the time he took to attack, one of the bullies, a Knight, summoned two Aetheric Bulwarks on Arthur's left and right, trapping him in one direction of space.

Then, right next to him was the other bully, a Brawler, and he punched out with both hands, screaming:

"Iron Fist!"

A torrent of Aether went forth, threatening to consume him whole, but Arthur didn't seem to care, even when his only escape was blocked off.

One must never forget that luck was on his side, always.

The Aetheric Bulwark on his right flickered, and before the attack could reach him, he simply stepped out, using the very shield meant to trap him as protection.

"HE'S CHEATING!"

"CHEATER!"

"LUCKY BASTARD!"

And that certainly earned a reaction from the crowd as everyone started cursing the boy. Arthur, not caring for their words, sidestepped another Iron Fist, and then slipped through a long sword's horizontal swing, moving close till he reached the Knight's face.

Without saying a word, he swung a punch right into his jaw, breaking it.

The force was enough to send him sprawling onto the floor, barely able to keep his footing as he tried to process what had just happened.

The bully just didn't know what to think.

All of it was... unfair, there was no other way to describe it.

It was almost like fate itself was guiding Arthur's movements, conspiring to make them fail.

And the last guy felt that the most.

He and Arthur went head to head, punch to punch, dodge to dodge.

His every attack seemed to miss by mere inches, every block somehow coming just a second too late.

It was obvious that he was more skilled, way more, and yet... he couldn't land a single hit. But then, out of nowhere, Arthur's face showed a subtle change, a wild smile began to form. To anyone else, this might seem to be a result of his insanity, but Emir knew, he knew what had just happened.

Fang had taken over.

With a level of skill he had never shown before, Arthur, or rather, Fang went forth, dodging a wide swing, and knocked the guy to the ground with a brutal twist, using his movement's momentum against himself.

Then, for a second or two, he quietly stood over him, trembling, perhaps holding himself back.

It wasn't obvious what was happening from a distance, but the referee could see it as clear as

day.

Arthur's face left no doubt about his intentions.

He was ready to go for the kill.

"That's enough!"

The referee, however, was not about to allow that to happen.

With a quick, heavy step, she moved forward, grabbing Arthur's arm and slamming him to the

ground.

No amount of luck could've him saved from someone with that much more experience and

power.

She kept Arthur on the ground, stepping hard on his back each time he tried to get up.

A smirk pulled at her lips as she looked at him with barely concealed contempt.

"First-years thinking they're invincible these days... getting way too cocky."

The referee sneered, loud enough for everyone to hear and the crowd erupted in boos.

"Shut up! Don't ruin the fun!"

"Get out!"

"Nobody cares about you third years!"

"Go back to your cave, you prehistoric moron!"

"We're all better than you!"

"BOOOOOOOOOO!!!!"

For a moment, the students' dislike for the referee overshadowed their shock at Arthur's

performance, seemingly forgetting what just happened.

The referee scowled, light gray eyes scanning the jeering students, then raised both hands and

flipped them off with a smug grin.

"Go fuck yourselves! Oh wait, I'm sure you do, you pubescent virgins!"

"BOO00000000!!!!"

"Get out!"

"Yeah, get the fuck out of here!"

"Just because you're hot doesn't mean that you can treat us like this!"

"Nobody cares about the student council!"

"BOO00000000!!!!"

"Step on me!"

"Ew! Shut the horny bastard up!"

"Leave-!"

"BOO00000000!!!!"

"SHUT UP!!!!"

Amidst the chaos, Emir, leaning casually against a pillar with an amused look, only smiled

wider at the display.

[Ly... was Olivia always like this?]
