On Hiatus: God's Personal Reasons-Chapter 213: #Hunter War of Destruction (1)
Chapter 213: #Hunter War of Destruction (1)
“Haa...”
“Uugh...”
Groans rose from the elves around me—the last one standing.
Of course, I didn’t kill any of them. Well, I almost did. However, the girl in the egg begged me, hands clasped. So, I just let them off lightly by breaking all their limbs. Besides, the elves seemed to be of S-rank levels, so it’d be a waste to kill them when I could keep them as my followers.
However, my compassion rubbed one of them the wrong way.
Swoosh!
The space warped, and two elves appeared.
I smirked. “Here you are.”
The ones I’d been waiting for had finally arrived. I recognized their unrealistically sculpted appearances. With only their hair color differing, they could easily be mistaken for twins.
[The innate power Blind Eyes of God has been activated.]
-----
[Apostles of the Fallen Goddess of Harmony and Balance]
Female elves. Around for over a million years. A Great Warrior and High Priest of a fallen god, with Low-tier God divinity.
Special note: They have been divided.
-----
The Great Warrior had long hair dark as night, with twin swords slung at her waist. In contrast, the High Priest had snow-white hair, holding a staff encrusted with white crystals. Almost everyone on Earth recognized them.
They were Royce, the SSS-rank Hunter said to be the strongest on Earth, and Jack White, an SS-rank Hunter with SSS-rank AoE magic skills.
“How dare you harm our kin and desecrate the sacred grounds!”
“Unforgivable!”
The two elves, radiating bloodlust, brandished their weapons at me.
How amusing. If the Hunter War were a strawberry shortcake, these two would be the most coveted strawberries on top.
“Yeah, this isn’t a bad place to hold the Hunter War finals,” I commented, pulling out Demon Lord and bracing myself.
“W-wait a moment!”
Right before the fight was about to start, a middle-aged foreigner jumped in.
“Who are you?”
In fact, three people teleported here, but the third person’s aura was so weak that I just brushed him off.
“I am Liam Bain, President of America’s Hunter Association! And I have a proposition for Hunter Yu Il-Shin!”

“I-incredible! My heart is pounding...”
The audience was hyped at the battle in the arena. No one had expected these results based on Sam-Shin’s appearance.
Bam! Bam! Bam!
Every clash between the Hunters sent deafening explosions through the air. Despite the huge physical difference, Sam-Shin could still go toe-to-toe with Zan Le Mang.
Swoosh! Swoosh!
Even Zan Le Mang was baffled by how the small Sam-Shin moved so nimbly, like a squirrel. Compared to the SS-rank monsters or Hunters whom she’d encountered throughout her entire career, Sam-Shin was definitely more difficult.
“Incredible!” she muttered under her breath in a split second.
She never imagined someone so young could fight her, a skilled hand-to-hand combatant.
But then, an icy cold look settled in her eyes.
“Still, you lack real combat experience.”
Zan Le Mang swung her giant sword, Dragon Slayer, to the back.
Tzzz!
A dense blue aura erupted from the giant sword like a tidal wave.
“Roar, Dent De Dragon (Dragon Fangs).”
“Des...troy?”
That seemed quite dangerous to Sam-Shin.
So far, Zan Le Mang had only been using her fists or feet. Seeing her Dragon Slayer enveloped with sword aura, Sam-Shin instinctively knew he shouldn’t go against it head on.
Zan Le Mang swung her sword down, unleashing an aura like a ferocious dragon, jaws agape, ready to devour the world. Sam-Shin narrowly dodged Dragon Slayer, but couldn’t evade her powerful soccer kick that followed.
Sam-Shin reflexively blocked it, but his small frame was sent flying into the sky like a rocket.
Swoosh!
As he hurtled in the air over a hundred meters, he spread his arms out to regain balance.
Tzzz!
Sam-Shin looked down and saw Zan Le Mang charging her giant sword with blue aura, about to strike.
Clunk!
Sam-Shin pulled up his glass visor, and red sparks scattered around his eyes, ready to be unleashed.
“Des...troy!”
Baaaaam!
The massive red beams threatened to engulf the entire arena.
“Oh my god!” Zan Le Mang was caught by surprise.
There was no escape. Gritting her teeth, she raised her sword, hoping to counterattack.
“Dragon Slayer, shapeshift Bouclier (Shield).”
Like divine retribution, the death beam struck the arena.
Ruuuuumble—Baaaam!
“Aaaaaah!”
“Eeeek!”
The audience’s vision blurred as the colosseum shook terribly, as if on the verge of collapse.
Despite avoiding a direct hit from the beam, web-like cracks appeared on the invisible barrier surrounding the arena.
“W-where’s Zan Le Mang?”
“W-what exactly happened?”
The spectators' eyes filled with horror as they struggled to see through the towering dust clouds. A massive crater lay at the center of the colosseum, as if a meteor had struck.
“Oh! Look over there!”
There was a large shield resembling a turtle shell.
Clang! Clang!
With a metallic sound, the shield reverted to its original sword form.
Clack!
Just then, Sam-Shin landed back on the devastated arena and turned to Zan Le Mang.
“Des...troy.”
Still panting and catching her breath, Zan Le Mang struggled to her feet, using her sword as support. She looked at her young opponent in horror.
“Did you...go easy on me earlier?”
This beam power was incomparable to the first. If it weren’t for her divine artifact, she’d have lost her life right there.
"I haven't felt like this in ages."
She felt as if she were standing before an insurmountable wall—a feeling only Royce and Jack White had ever evoked in her. Still, it was only to be expected, as they were elves from another world—ageless beings transcended beyond mankind. Excluding those two, Zan Le Mang had always thought of herself as the strongest Hunter on Earth.
“It’s been a while.”
She never imagined feeling these emotions again, let alone because of a child from neighboring South Korea. Still, Zan Le Mang had a trick up her sleeve for foes like them.
“Dragon Slayer, ultimate form, Dragon Fouet (Dragon’s Whip).”
Tentacle-like tendrils shot out from her giant sword, lodging themselves on her. Then, the Dragon Slayer shattered into pieces, transforming into a whip with a blade at its tip.
“Aaaargh!”
With her determined yell, the sword fragment multiplied at a terrifying rate.
Swish swish!
Within moments, the blade fragments filled up the devastated arena. The Dragon Slayer had transformed into a giant snake at least fifty-meters long.
Sam-Shin stumbled backward. “D-des...troy?”
Zan Le Mang took this chance and swung Dragon Slayer at him.
“Take this!”
The giant bladed whip came crashing down onto Sam-Shin like a massive downpour.
Kwaaaaa!
The MC raised their voice in horror.
—This is incredible! Simply incredible! Can we still call that a sword? It’s as if the Jörmungandr (Midgard Serpent)[1] from the myths has come to life! As expected of France’s national treasure! As expected of Hunter Zan Le Mang, the only true rival of SSS-rank Hunter Royce! Will Hunter Yu Il-Shin be able to prevail?
“Surrender now! I won’t be able to go easy once this mode has been activated!” Zan Le Mang screamed at Sam-Shin, her veins about to burst.
Sam-Shin was barely evading her attacks. He hadn’t received a direct critical hit so far, but the raining blades were slowly shredding him.
While dodging, Sam-Shin counted with his fingers. He had used the Beam of Destruction once at the start and again just moments ago. Now, only one shot remained.
From his confrontation with Yi-Shin the night before, Sam-Shin had learned that if he used up all of his divine power, he’d have to return to the main body. But he still wanted to play with Seong-Yeon some more. In the first place, he only participated to impress her, so he couldn’t afford to disappear just yet.
Observing the Dragon Slayer’s form, reminiscent of a giant serpent, Sam-Shin pondered about how to defeat it without using his beam. Suddenly, a brilliant idea struck him.
Big foes should be met with equally big force—and the main body had the skills to do just that.
Parting his black lips, Sam-Shin chanted at breakneck speed, “Destroy. Destroy. Destroy. Destroy. Destroy. Destroy. Destroy. Destroy. Destroy. Destroy. Destroy. Destroy. Destroy. Destroy. Destroy. Destroy. Destroy. Destroy. Destroy. Destroy. Destroy.”
Ko Sa-Deuk hiccupped in shock as he watched from the audience.
Perhaps, only necromancers could see it, but vengeful spirits from all over the African continent rushed toward Sam-Shin at tremendous speed. The boy was executing the ultimate necromantic technique!
“J-just who the hell is that kid? Lilith, did you see that?!”
Lilith, who’d been gobbling down her popcorn and squid, froze as well. She watched Sam-Shin in a daze.
“Lilith?”
In the next moment, she flew toward Sam-Shin.
“Huh?! Lilith! Come back! It’s dangerous!”
However, Ko Sa-Deuk was a step too late.
Sam-Shin nodded toward Lilith as he spotted her flying over, and she returned the gesture.
Amid the hail of swords and vengeful spirits, Lilith jumped into the arena.
The entire world was about to witness a shocking event.
“Eeeek! T-that’s!”
Even the injured Choi Bong-Shik, who’d been watching from the benches, started trembling uncontrollably. He recalled the very same, nightmarish words from the past.
“Grrr. Is that Bong-Shik?”
“Waaaaah! H-he’s coming for me! Save me!” Choi Bong-Shik screamed hysterically and peed his pants.
Clack clack! Ruuuumble!
That monster—Choi Bong-Shik’s PTSD—rose from the arena grounds.
“Kyaaaaak!”
“Aaaargh! A-a monster!”
“A-a gate must have opened!”
Screams of horror erupted from the stands.
Even Zan Le Mang, who had experienced this before, paled at the sight of the giant shadow looming over her.
“I-is that the evil spirit of the Despair Dragon...”
A creepy dragon, pure white and made of bones, had suddenly appeared.
-Destroooooooooy!
Sam-Shin, the Bone Dragon of Destruction, roared at the world.
