On the Day I Was Kicked Out of the Wealthy Family, I Had a Flash Marriage with a Tycoon-Chapter 35: I Will Never Lie to You
Damian Rivers made a call, ordering his men to find the exact address of Cecilia Stone’s villa.
"Chloe, I have the exact address. Let’s go."
Chloe Sterling frowned slightly. "If you want to go, go by yourself."
Damian Rivers raised an eyebrow. "You’re not going?"
Chloe Sterling replied, "I never said I was going."
Damian Rivers pressed, "Then why did you ask for the address?"
Chloe Sterling said, "I did ask, but I didn’t say I’d go right now."
"........"
Chloe Sterling turned and walked out of the alley, leaving Damian Rivers utterly bewildered. He was finding it harder and harder to understand this woman.
Seeing her emerge, Maya Jacobs immediately asked, "Chloe, where did you learn to fight like that? You’re incredible."
"I learned from my master."
"Your master? The one who taught you medicine?"
"Yes."
Maya Jacobs looked at her with admiration. "So, is your master even more incredible?"
Chloe Sterling’s voice was languid. "Have you ever heard the saying, ’The student surpasses the master’?"
In both medicine and martial arts, she had already surpassed her master.
Maya Jacobs paused, stunned, then gave her a thumbs-up. She found herself admiring Chloe Sterling more and more.
The two of them returned to the front of the laboratory building.
"You go on ahead," Chloe Sterling said. "I’m going to make a call out here. I’ll be right in."
Maya Jacobs nodded. "Okay, I’ll go in and wait for you."
Chloe Sterling took out her phone, sent a text, and then made a call. "The address I just sent you—I need you to take your men there immediately and grab Cecilia Stone."
A young man’s voice came through the phone. "And where should we take her?"
Chloe Sterling’s eyes narrowed. "Toss her in a warehouse for the night. I’ll go see her tomorrow morning."
"Alright, I understand."
After hanging up, Chloe Sterling put her phone away and walked into the laboratory building.
By the time Damian Rivers and his men arrived at the Westcroft Villa, Cecilia Stone was already gone.
"Sir, we’ve searched upstairs and down. There’s no one."
Damian Rivers’ expression turned cold. He said to one of his men, "Go to the Sutton Family. Tell them that if they can’t control their daughter, they’d better be prepared for bankruptcy."
The Sutton Family had already been devastated and pushed to the brink of bankruptcy when Jasper Lockwood made his move before. They had only just started to recover. If Damian Rivers took action now, the Sutton Family’s presence in Crestfall would be finished.
That’s just how the world was—the strong prey on the weak. In the face of powerful clans, a minor family like the Suttons was defenseless.
Cecilia Stone awoke from unconsciousness to find herself in a dimly lit warehouse. She had no idea who had rushed into her villa, knocked her out with a single blow, and carried her away.
Her captor hadn’t said a single word from start to finish.
Wary and cautious, Cecilia Stone got to her feet. She looked around and saw she was completely alone.
She slowly walked to the large, closed iron door and tried to push it open, but it wouldn’t budge. It was locked from the outside.
She suddenly started pounding on the door. "Let me out! Who are you?"
"Why did you take me? Open the door!"
But no matter how loudly she yelled, there was no response.
After shouting for what felt like an eternity, she finally grew tired. She looked at the dusty floor and wrinkled her nose in disgust. She’d rather collapse from exhaustion than sit on the filthy ground.
Chloe Sterling didn’t leave The Medical College until a little after six in the evening.
Jasper Lockwood’s car was parked on the side of the road. When Henry Chamberlain saw her coming, he immediately opened the door. "Madam."
Chloe Sterling nodded and slipped into the car.
Jasper Lockwood looked at her and said, "Shall we go to the old family manor for dinner?"
Chloe Sterling nodded. "Alright."
It was rush hour, and the car moved slowly through traffic.
Chloe Sterling gazed at the skyscrapers outside the window. Her eyes suddenly landed on a billboard, and she recalled what Maya Jacobs had said at noon about the various rumors surrounding Jasper Lockwood...
Jasper Lockwood’s gaze, however, was fixed on the soft lines of her profile as he wondered what Damian Rivers might have said to her.
After a long silence, it was Jasper Lockwood who finally broke it. "Chloe."
"Hm?" Chloe Sterling turned her head. "What is it?"
"What are you thinking about?"
After a moment’s thought, Chloe Sterling said bluntly, "I was thinking about the rumors I heard about you today."
"Oh? What rumors?"
"About... the meteoric rise of a certain A-list male celebrity."
Jasper Lockwood: "........"
Henry Chamberlain’s hands tightened on the steering wheel. This was one of the rumors his boss hated most.
If anyone else had brought this up in front of the Second Master, they’d be finished by now.
Seeing his silence, Chloe Sterling asked, slightly puzzled, "Why so quiet? You don’t actually like... men, do you?"
After a moment of silence, Jasper Lockwood’s lips curved slightly. "Whether I like men or women... shouldn’t you know best? Have my recent efforts been lacking? Or was my performance that night not up to par?"
"........"
Images of a certain passionate night flooded Chloe Sterling’s mind, and her face instantly flushed red.
Jasper Lockwood’s lips curled into a wicked, seductive smile. "Or should I give you another demonstration tonight?"
Chloe Sterling feigned composure. "That won’t be necessary."
Jasper Lockwood suddenly pulled her into his arms and whispered in her ear, "So, do you still have any doubts?"
Chloe Sterling said, "I was just asking."
"Did Damian Rivers tell you that?"
At his words, Chloe Sterling looked up at him in surprise. After a moment, she asked, "You saw him at noon?"
"I saw the two of you," Jasper Lockwood said, his gaze fixed on her as he spoke softly. "Chloe, don’t believe a word anyone else says."
"What about yours?"
Jasper Lockwood’s lips curved slightly. "You can believe mine."
Chloe Sterling smiled, too. "And why is that?"
Jasper Lockwood’s expression grew very serious. "Because I will never lie to you."
Chloe Sterling’s playful smile vanished. She stared at him, her lips parting as if to speak, but she remained silent.
The car fell silent.
After a long moment, Chloe Sterling finally spoke. "It wasn’t Damian Rivers. I overheard some students at The Medical College gossiping about you. I didn’t believe it."
Jasper Lockwood chuckled softly. "Mm."
A short while later, they arrived at the old Lockwood estate.
Today, Old Master Lockwood’s complexion was clearly much improved.
The dining table was laden with a vast array of dishes, their colors, aromas, and presentation all perfectly tempting.
"Chloe," said Old Master Lockwood, "come, sit down and eat. These were all prepared specially for you. Try them and see what you think."
"Thank you, Grandpa." Chloe Sterling sat down with a smile. "You’re looking much better today."
"That I am." Old Master Lockwood laughed heartily, his voice full of vigor. "It’s all thanks to your medicine. I feel like I’ve made a full recovery."
"You still need to get plenty of rest, and make sure you finish the course of medicine I prescribed."
"I will." After a pause, Old Master Lockwood turned to Jasper Lockwood. "By the way, did you really keep the eldest and his family out while I was unconscious?"
"I did," Jasper Lockwood replied, his expression matter-of-fact.
"You rascal," Old Master Lockwood said with a laugh, "you’re even more domineering than I was at your age." There wasn’t a hint of reproach in his voice—quite the opposite, he sounded proud.
He never once asked who had harmed him. He knew Jasper would handle it; he was well aware of the situation.
A little after ten that night, Chloe Sterling and Jasper Lockwood returned to The Lockwood Residence.
