Chloe Sterling’s icy gaze fell on Mason Rivers, but his was fixed on Esther Sterling. Seeing her hesitate, a fearful look on her face, he said again, "Don’t be afraid. I’m here."

Esther Sterling whispered, "Let’s just forget it. She knows kung fu."

Mason Rivers snorted in disdain. "It’s all for show. I don’t hit women, but I won’t let anyone bully you, either."

Chloe Sterling’s voice was cold. "Get lost!"

Mason Rivers’s expression darkened. "You don’t have the right to be arrogant in front of me! Today, you either let Esther hit you back, or you get out of The Medical College for good."

"That’s a bold claim. Mason Rivers, what gives you the nerve?"

Just then, Damian Rivers appeared, sauntering over to Chloe Sterling’s side.

Mason Rivers froze, looking at him in confusion, not daring to say a word.

Not expecting Damian Rivers’s sudden appearance, Esther Sterling bit her lip, furious and resentful.

Damian Rivers moved to shield Chloe Sterling, his gaze sweeping over the other two before he spoke again. "Who are you telling to get out, Mason Rivers?"

Not wanting to lose face in front of the woman he liked, Mason Rivers braced himself and spoke up. "Brother, this woman was bullying my friend. I can’t just stand by and watch, can I? What kind of man would that make me!"

Damian Rivers scoffed. "Don’t call me Brother. We’re not that close."

Mason Rivers’s face flushed then paled. He looked back at Chloe Sterling. "This woman has to apologize to my friend, or I won’t let her off easy."

"You dare touch a single hair on her head?" Damian Rivers said coldly. "Just try it and see if I let *you* off easy." As he spoke, he glanced at Esther Sterling. "That goes for your ’friend’ here, too."

At his words, Esther Sterling stared at Damian Rivers in disbelief, her eyes brimming with tears. "Young Master Rivers, what do you mean by that? Are you going to help my sister bully me, too? How have I offended you?"

Her act only repulsed Damian Rivers further. He said with disgust, "Coming here to harass Chloe Sterling is the same as offending me."

Furious and aggrieved, Esther Sterling burst into tears, turned, and ran off!

With Damian Rivers present, Mason Rivers obviously didn’t dare to do anything to Chloe Sterling. He immediately ran after Esther Sterling. "Esther... wait..."

Chloe Sterling didn’t say anything. After a moment’s hesitation, Maya Jacobs replied, "Um... yeah, we are."

Damian Rivers: "Perfect. I haven’t had lunch yet. Let’s go together."

Maya Jacobs: "..."

’Maybe I shouldn’t have said anything.’

Glancing at Chloe Sterling, Maya Jacobs added, "We’re just going to the school cafeteria. I’m afraid Young Master Rivers might not be used to it."

Damian Rivers said nonchalantly, "It’s fine. I’ll manage."

Just then, Chloe Sterling suddenly answered a call. Her expression turned grim, and she said, "You guys go on without me. Something’s come up and I have to leave."

Seeing her expression, Maya quickly asked, "Chloe, are you okay?"

"I’m fine. I just can’t go to the cafeteria with you."

"That’s okay. I’ll go with Connor Aldridge and the others."

"Okay." Chloe Sterling nodded and quickly turned to leave.

Damian Rivers caught up with her. "What’s wrong? What happened? Do you need my help?"

"No!"

"Come on, you don’t have to be so formal with me. You look like you’re in a hurry. What is it? If you tell me, maybe I can help."

Chloe Sterling shot him a sideways glance. "I’m going to find Jasper Lockwood. Are you sure you want to come?"

Damian Rivers: "..."

While he was still stunned, Chloe Sterling quickened her pace, walked into the parking lot, pulled open a car door, and got in. A moment later, she sped off, leaving him in a cloud of dust.

Leaving Damian Rivers standing there, utterly bewildered.

’What kind of woman have I fallen for?!’

Damian Rivers got back in his car and slammed on the accelerator, peeling out. ’No matter what, I’m catching up to her this time!’

In a corner somewhere, Esther Sterling’s eyes were red from crying. Mason Rivers’s heart ached for her as he comforted her softly, "Esther, please stop crying. Your eyes are all red."

Esther Sterling choked back sobs. "Mr. Mason, you should just leave me alone. I don’t want to get you into trouble. This isn’t the first time Chloe Sterling has bullied me. Mom and Dad don’t like her, so she always takes her anger out on me. I... I’m used to it..."

Hearing this made Mason Rivers feel even worse. "Don’t say that. How could I possibly ignore you?"

Chloe Sterling arrived at a bidding conference and immediately spotted Jasper Lockwood and Silas Coldwell sitting in the front row. They sat on opposite sides, appearing calm, but the air around them was thick with the smoke of battle.

Jean Kensington’s voice came through her Bluetooth earpiece. "Silas Coldwell has gone completely insane. Whatever project Jasper Lockwood wants, he intentionally competes for it, deliberately jacking up the price severalfold. Now they’re both bleeding money!"
