On the Day I Was Kicked Out of the Wealthy Family, I Had a Flash Marriage with a Tycoon-Chapter 58: Promise Her One Thing
"I’m a Pharmacist. I have my own medicine. I’ll be fine once I apply it." After a pause, Chloe Sterling added, "Silas Coldwell, this is the second time I’ve saved you."
Silas Coldwell stiffened, and then, as if realizing something, his expression changed. "So what?"
"Can you promise me one thing?"
"No!" Guessing what she was about to say, Silas Coldwell snapped, "Did I ask you to help? Did I ask you to stick your nose in my business?"
"Then forget it." Chloe Sterling withdrew her gaze and said coldly, "Shut the door."
"You!" Silas Coldwell was so angry he wanted to curse.
But he definitely couldn’t curse at Chloe Sterling, so he turned and barked at his subordinate, "If you don’t catch those guys, I’ll break your legs!"
The subordinate was stunned for a second, then quickly said, "I’ll dispatch more men immediately."
Taking a deep breath to suppress his rage, Silas Coldwell looked at Chloe Sterling again. "This car is a piece of junk. Don’t drive it. Come to my car and get that wound treated first. I’ll take you wherever you need to go."
"It still drives fine. I’ll take it in for repairs later." With that, Chloe Sterling went to shut the door.
"Fix it, my ass!" Silas Coldwell held the door, stopping her from closing it. "Just junk it, I’ll get you a better one! You’re with Jasper Lockwood and he lets you drive this piece of junk?"
"He got me other cars. I just choose not to drive them. Are you going to let go or not?"
"Are you getting out or not?"
"I’m not!"
Out of options, Silas Coldwell gritted his teeth. "Fine! I’ll promise you one thing. As long as you come to my car to bandage your wound and let me drive you, I’ll agree to it!"
Chloe Sterling looked at him. "You said it." 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
"I said it!"
"Stop going against Jasper Lockwood."
Silas Coldwell’s face darkened. He knew she was going to say this. "Jasper, Jasper! Can’t you talk about anything else besides him?"
"There’s nothing else. Do you agree or not?" Chloe asked.
"Fine," Silas Coldwell ground out through his teeth. "I agree. I won’t go against him anymore. But if he starts something with me, don’t blame me for going back on my word."
Only then did Chloe Sterling get out of the car, but she still called the repair shop and asked them to send someone to pick up her car.
Silas Coldwell felt a headache coming on. He wanted to just smash the heap of junk to pieces and buy her a brand new, better car.
The two of them didn’t wait for anyone to arrive before getting into Silas Coldwell’s SUV.
"Let’s treat the wound first."
Silas Coldwell took out the first-aid kit in the car and then reached for Chloe Sterling’s arm.
"No need." Chloe Sterling dodged him and picked up a piece of gauze to cover the wound. "It’s not serious. Just take me to the martial arts school. I’ll treat it when I get there."
Silas Coldwell stared at her, then asked abruptly, "A moment ago, did you genuinely want to help me, or had you already planned on using it to make a demand?"
"I planned on using it to make a demand."
Silas Coldwell: "......Well, you’re honest."
Chloe Sterling glanced at him. "If I said I genuinely wanted to help, you wouldn’t believe me anyway."
"I would! If you said it, I’d believe it."
Chloe Sterling ignored him and quietly held her injured arm.
Seeing the white gauze stained red with blood, Silas Coldwell’s expression shifted repeatedly. She was just a 20-year-old girl; how could she be so aloof, so stoic?
"Do you have any painkillers in your bag?" Silas Coldwell asked again.
"I have a high tolerance for pain." Chloe Sterling’s tone was flat, making it impossible to tell if she was telling the truth.
Silas Coldwell kept telling the driver to speed up, and they arrived at the martial arts school 20 minutes later.
"I’m leaving." Chloe Sterling pushed open the car door and got out.
Silas Coldwell got out with her.
Chloe Sterling paused. "What are you doing?"
"I’ll leave after I see your wound is treated."
Without waiting for her reaction, Silas Coldwell strode directly into the martial arts school, a subordinate following behind him.
"Mr. Coldwell! Chloe!" Chase Langdon looked at the two in surprise. "How did you two arrive together?"
As soon as the words left his mouth, he noticed Chloe’s injured arm, and his expression changed instantly. "What happened? How did you get hurt?"
"There was a small accident. I’m going to get it bandaged," Chloe Sterling explained.
Chase Langdon said immediately, "Go to the office." As he spoke, he shot a suspicious glance at Silas Coldwell.
Silas Coldwell’s face was expressionless as he followed the two into the office.
Chloe Sterling took off her trench coat. Underneath, she wore a white, three-quarter-sleeve top. She pushed the sleeve up a bit, revealing the entire wound.
There were several bloody cuts, large and small.
Seeing this, Silas Coldwell’s brows furrowed instantly.
Chase Langdon brought the first-aid kit to clean and disinfect her wound. Fortunately, the cuts weren’t very large and didn’t require stitches. Applying her self-made special medicine and bandaging it would be enough.
"With your driving skills, how could you get into an accident?" Chase Langdon questioned in a serious tone.
Chloe Sterling looked nonchalant. "The other driver was severely intoxicated."
Glancing at Silas Coldwell, Chase Langdon looked doubtful. "Then how did you end up coming here with President Coldwell?"
"We met by chance."
"Really?"
Chloe Sterling raised an eyebrow. "What else?"
Chase Langdon’s expression was stern. "Answer me properly!"
Chloe Sterling: "..."
’It’s been a long time since Chase has been this serious.’
Silas Coldwell’s face darkened. He said to Chase Langdon, "Watch your tone!"
Chase Langdon looked at him, his previous politeness gone, showing not a shred of fear. He said gravely, "President Coldwell, Chloe is my junior sister. Master told me to take good care of her. I don’t want to see her get hurt because of anyone or anything!"
"Take good care of her?" Silas Coldwell sneered. "Do you have what it takes?"
"Senior Brother..." Chloe Sterling tugged on Chase Langdon’s sleeve and replied earnestly, "It really was just an accident. It has nothing to do with him. He just gave me a ride here."
Chase Langdon: "I hope so."
Silas Coldwell didn’t stay long. Before leaving, he said he would come looking for Chloe Sterling.
Chloe Sterling didn’t respond, and he didn’t seem to mind, leaving with his subordinate.
"Did Silas Coldwell do something to you or not? Was he trying to take you away?" Chase Langdon asked again.
"No. If he wanted to hurt me or take me away, why would he bring me here?"
"It wasn’t because you poisoned him and he had no choice but to bring you back?"
Chloe Sterling chuckled lightly. "Senior Brother, you have quite the imagination."
Chase Langdon huffed. "It’s not like that hasn’t happened before!"
"That was with other people! Silas Coldwell wouldn’t. After all, I saved his life once."
"With your driving skills, you couldn’t avoid a drunk driver?" Chase Langdon was still skeptical.
Chloe Sterling explained patiently, "It was at an intersection. He suddenly sped through. There was a lot of traffic, so I couldn’t just swerve into someone else, could I?"
Knowing he wouldn’t get anything more out of her, Chase Langdon didn’t press the matter.
"Oh, right. I came to tell you that I’m going to Country E the day after tomorrow. Also... Jean is living next door to you. Please help me keep an eye on her and her son," Chloe Sterling said.
"Alright. Why are you going to Country E again? What for?"
"To treat a patient. The Lancaster Family in Country E. I’ll probably be back in about a week."
"Are you going alone?"
"No, Jasper Lockwood is going with me."
"Mm," Chase Langdon nodded. "That’s good."
Although he had yet to meet Jasper Lockwood, he still felt he was more reliable than Silas Coldwell.
