On the Day I Was Kicked Out of the Wealthy Family, I Had a Flash Marriage with a Tycoon-Chapter 7: Cool Young Lady
Sure enough, the elevator went up and quickly came back down. The doors opened again, and Jasper Lockwood stepped out.
Henry immediately asked, "Master, are we... still going to the office today?"
Jasper shot him a piercing glare and said in his tone chilling. "What do you think?"
Well...
He could no longer fathom this tyrant’s thoughts.
Jasper stared at the woman’s retreating figure in the distance and spoke again. "My wife has gone out, and I’m still at home?"
Henry nodded. "I’ll make the arrangements at once."
A little after two in the afternoon.
After finishing her errands, Chloe walked into a coffee shop.
She hadn’t gotten much sleep the night before and needed a coffee to wake herself up.
Another of the shop’s doors opened into the attached mall, where a large screen was playing a promotion for a new resort island developed by the Lockwood Group. The island scenery was beautiful.
Jasper occasionally appeared in the video. Dressed in a bespoke suit, he was tall, handsome, cold, and imposing. Among the crowd, he stood out like a lofty emperor, inspiring a fear that kept others at a distance.
Chloe sat by the window, and watched the cold, stern man in the video. ’Probably no one would believe what Jasper is like in private.’ She wracked her brain for a while, but in the end, she felt one word described him best - he was the "siren", the kind of siren that could steal your very soul!
Just then, three people came down on the escalator. Chloe happened to glance over, and her eyes instantly darkened.
A joyful smile lit up Esther’s face as she clung to Rose’s arm, She was acting cute and spoiled.
A driver trailed behind them, who was carrying seven or eight shopping bags, all filled with expensive luxury goods.
Chloe’s fingers tightened slightly as Rose’s words from the apartment echoed in her ears. "Here’s two million. It’s enough for you to live a comfortable life in the countryside. Leave Crestfall..."
Glancing at the shopping bags in the driver’s hands, Chloe scoffed and looked away.
The mother and daughter stepped off the escalator.
Rose squeezed Esther’s hand softly. "Esther, it wasn’t easy to get an invitation to the Rivers Family’s banquet. You have to be on your best behavior."
"Mhm." Esther nodded, then added, "Don’t worry, Mom. I’ll definitely make a good impression. I’ll make sure every young master from every prominent family remembers the my name."
Looking at her beautiful and talented younger daughter, Rose smiled in satisfaction. "That’s my girl."
As they were walking, Esther suddenly noticed Chloe sitting in the coffee shop. Her eyes shifted slyly, and she said, "Mom, I think that’s my sister in the coffee shop over there. Why is she all alone? Is she waiting for someone?"
At her words, Rose followed her gaze and saw Chloe sitting there. Her expression immediately soured.
"It looks like she really doesn’t want to go back to the countryside. But those rich playboys are just using her as a toy. Why can’t she see that?" Esther finished with a soft sigh.
Thinking of all the disgraceful things Chloe had done, Rose’s expression grew even fouler. "If she wants to cheapen herself, let her do that. Don’t call her your sister anymore. She has nothing to do with the Sterling family."
Esther smiled inwardly and gave an obedient sound of "Okay."
Then, she pulled out her phone and sent a message to Cecilia Stone.
Cecilia had been searching for Chloe for two days. As soon as she got the message, she immediately headed over with her people.
Chloe took a phone call, and delayed her departure.
After hanging up, she stood and walked out of the coffee shop.
Just as she was about to hail a cab, a black sedan sped up and screeched to a halt by the curb. The doors opened, and Cecilia got out with three bodyguards.
"You’re pretty good at hiding, aren’t you? Did you really think I couldn’t find you?" Cecilia crossed her arms, her expression full of arrogance.
"Hiding from you?" Chloe smirked. "You’re not worth the effort."
A vicious glint appeared in Cecilia’s eyes. "Let’s see if you’re still smiling after I’m done with you! Grab her!"
At her command, the three bodyguards immediately moved forward.
Chloe stood her ground, showing not a trace of fear or panic. As the three men closed in, she struck—fast, precise, and ruthless. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
The smile was quickly wiped from Cecilia’s face as she watched in shock while Chloe took down all three of her bodyguards, and left them sprawled on the ground.
The commotion drew a crowd. Some people were taking photos and videos, and one was even live-streaming.
"Holy shit! That girl is so badass!"
"Damn, damn! That girl is gorgeous and so cool!"
"AHHH! I think I have fallen for her. She’s so cool and awesome!"
"A girl that makes people feel safe! I’m in love!!!"
Cecilia stood rooted on the spot, stunned. Chloe fixed her with a sharp gaze and walked toward her, one step at a time.
Frightened, Cecilia stumbled backward. "Wh-what do you want? Chloe Sterling, if you dare touch me, I swear I won’t let you get away with it."
Chloe stopped and said in a cold voice, "Next time it happens, I promise I’ll beat you so badly even your own mother won’t recognize you."
Cecilia glared at her, furious but too scared to speak.
Chloe turned, hailed a cab, and left with an air of cool indifference.
Cecilia looked at the crowd taking pictures and roared, "Get lost! What are you looking at!"
Back at the Lockwood Residence, Chloe still felt a little sleepy, so she went to her room for a nap.
Meanwhile, the video of her had already blown up online.
Netizens quickly dug up Cecilia’s identity, which was the arrogant and domineering fourth daughter of the Stone Family, known for bullying others by flaunting her family’s power. She had even bullied a female classmate to the point of depression, forcing her to transfer schools.
In an instant, the internet was flooded with condemnations and curses directed at Cecilia Stone.
Calls to boycott the Stone Group’s products spread as well.
The Stone Family was thrown into chaos. They couldn’t seem to suppress the public outcry online, and it was obvious someone was intentionally fanning the flames and preventing them from burying the topic.
At the Lockwood Group.
In the CEO’s Office.
Jasper’s sharp gaze was fixed on his computer screen.
A moment later, Henry came in and bowed his head. "Second Master, the orders have been given. The Stone family will never press down the public outcry. However, there is one other peculiar matter."
Jasper’s gaze shifted to Henry. "What is it?"
Henry replied, "There’s also a hacker preventing the Stones from suppressing the topic. We don’t know if it’s a coincidence or if it’s related to the Madam."
After a moment of silence, Jasper asked, "Where is she?"
"The butler said she has already returned home."
Chloe had been asleep for over two hours when the buzzing of her phone woke her.
She frowned, grabbed the phone and answering without even opening her eyes. Her voice was laced with annoyance. "Who is it?"
"Chloe Sterling, look what you’ve done! You get back here right now!" Warren Sterling’s furious roar came through the phone.
Chloe’s eyes cracked open a sliver. "Who is this? Do I know you?"
"Stop playing dumb with me! Get to the Stones’ house right now. If you don’t resolve this, you can forget about staying in Crestfall! Don’t think for a second I can’t control you! I’m sending you the address. Get here within half an hour!"
Chloe’s fingers tightened around the phone, her eyes turning icy. She hung up and immediately blocked Warren Sterling’s number.
In the car...
Rose asked with a frown, "Is she coming or not?"
Warren scoffed. "She wouldn’t dare refuse! Does she really think she can do whatever she wants now?"
