One Night With A Mysterious Billionaire (The Heiress's Revenge)-Chapter 25: Am I the drama II
For a split second, Lena almost laughed out loud. How foolish she had been in the past, blindly trusting these people, failing to see them for what they truly were. Conniving, shameless parasites.
The moment Mr. Smith spotted her, he rushed forward and grabbed her arm, pulling her close as if scolding a disobedient child. To outsiders, it looked like a concerned father reprimanding his daughter. Only Lena knew the truth.
"Lena," Mr. Smith said loudly, drawing attention,
"why haven’t you been home for a while?"
Lena squinted at him, genuinely wondering if he had suddenly grown a second head.
"Young girls are not supposed to stay outside with a man," he continued casually. "No matter how good he is to you."
Lena burst out laughing, the sound sharp and hollow. So this is my beloved father, she thought bitterly.
Oblivious to her rising anger, Mr. Smith went on.
"Evans is a good man. He said he’s willing to forgive you, even though you spent the night with a strange man. Don’t let outsiders deceive you. We love you more than anything. Come back home."
By now, many employees had slowed their steps or stopped entirely, pretending to be busy while openly eavesdropping. Lena could feel their curious gazes burning into her back.
Will these people ever rest? she thought. Do they really want to destroy my reputation that badly?
She lowered her head, taking a deep breath, forcing herself to calm down before unleashing the fury boiling inside her.
Ashley, however, mistook this silence for weakness and seized the opportunity.
"Lena," she said with false concern, "your father means well. He even apologized to Evans on your behalf, and Evans forgave you."
Her words grew sharper. "What did you do in return? You connived with the man you cheated with to have Evans beaten up. Even after everything, he still forgave you. Yet you lied about him and had him fired from the company he helped build with you, after he worked so hard to grow it to this point."
Lena slowly raised her head and looked at all of them. Her father still bore visible injuries. So did Evans.
And instead of pity, joy bloomed in her heart.
They deserved every single punch they had received for the filth spilling from their mouths.
If they want drama, Lena thought coldly, then I’ll give them drama.
Without warning, she collapsed to the ground, sobbing loudly. The sudden act shocked everyone present, including her father and his accomplices.
"Father!" Lena cried between sobs. "It’s not that I wanted to fire Evans. The board discovered that he had been embezzling company funds. Most of the projects he claimed credit for, I was the one doing them for him!"
Gasps rippled through the crowd.
"They said the company shouldn’t pay incompetent employees who contribute nothing and steal from company accounts. They even wanted him arrested for his crimes. I had to intervene to protect him!"
Those who had been glaring at Lena moments ago froze, shock evident on their faces.
Lena wasn’t done.
"Father," she continued tearfully, "I caught Evans and Ashley cheating several times. I have evidence. Ashley personally begged me to leave
Evans for her because she loved him so much."
Her voice trembled convincingly. "She was my best friend, the one I loved and trusted the most, so I agreed."
The entire lobby went silent.
"What did I do wrong?" Lena cried. "Should I have ignored my best friend’s feelings and married the man she loved so much?"
Everyone was stunned, including Ashley.
Ashley nearly vomited blood.
"Lena, you liar!" she screamed. "When did I ever say such a thing?"
Lena didn’t respond verbally. She simply pointed at Ashley’s hand, till tightly intertwined with Evans’.
Ashley’s face drained of color, she wished the ground could open and swallow her up. There was no point denying it anymore.
Before they could recover, Lena struck again.
"I did everything out of love," she sobbed. "Now they slander me to hide their own atrocities. Father, you must seek justice for me. I’m your daughter!"
The crowd erupted instantly.
"No wonder they always come to work together even though Ashley doesn’t work here," an employee shouted. "They were cheating behind Miss Smith back?"
"And to think Miss Smith left her man for you when she caught you cheating with him!" another added. "She’s too benevolent!"
"What a shameless couple," someone else yelled. "Trying to ruin Miss smith’s name!"
"Drag them out and beat them!" another voice rose. "Miss Smith is too kind. She even saved that fool from jail after he embezzled company funds!"
Lena continued crying silently, which only fueled the employees’ anger. They surged forward, pouncing on Ashley and Evans, beating them until they were bruised and screaming.
Mr. Smith fled the scene the moment things spiraled out of control.
Lena snickered when she saw him running away. He had always been that kind of man, cowardly and selfish.
When she decided they had suffered enough, she finally called security to break up the chaos.
She knew it was unprofessional for her employees to engage in physical violence at work. But desperate times called for desperate measures. She would call an emergency meeting later, reprimand everyone, and pretend the incident never happened.
This beating was repayment, for every humiliation, every betrayal, and every time her father had laid his hands on her because of them.
And Lena felt no remorse at all.
Lena returned to her office, intending to continue with the work she had abandoned earlier, but the moment she sat behind her desk, she realized it was pointless. Her mind refused to focus. It felt as though the day had been deliberately designed to push her emotions to the edge, anger and sadness colliding until her chest felt unbearably tight.
With a sharp exhale, she summoned an emergency meeting.
Standing before her employees minutes later, Lena addressed the incident firmly. Her voice was calm, but the authority in it left no room for argument. She made it clear that any form of fighting or physical confrontation within the company premises would never be tolerated again. While she chose to issue only a warning this time, she emphasized that there would be no second chances in the future.
The decision surprised many.
Instead of seeing her as weak, her employees began to view her differently, more composed, more dignified. Their disapproval did not fall on Lena but shifted heavily toward Evans. Whispers followed him through the halls, judgment lingering in every glance cast his way.
However, what no one expected was how quickly the situation would spiral beyond the walls of the company.
News of the confrontation spread like wildfire. Gossip passed from desk to desk, from phone to phone, until it escaped the building entirely. Some employees had secretly recorded the incident, and before anyone could stop it, the video surfaced online. Within hours, it began trending, attracting thousands of comments and shares.
Then, just as suddenly as it appeared, the video vanished.
In its place, an entirely different story surfaced, one far more damning.
Detailed posts exposing Ashley and Evans’ affair flooded the internet. There were photos, dates, hotel names, and timelines stretching from the beginning of the betrayal until now. To make matters worse, the video of Lena sitting down and pleading, begging Ashley, was also included. The internet erupted.
Comments poured in relentlessly.
Jane_d wrote: "The lives of the rich are really messy. What kind of home drama is this?"
Cutsybae commented: "These couples deserve to be locked up for their atrocious lifestyle."
Diva23 added: "This is why I stay away from female friends. How can your best friend treat you like this?"
Tyra wrote angrily: "And to think she was an orphan. Miss Smith took her in and paid her college tuition, only for her to backstab her like this. She deserves to be beaten."
The internet was in chaos.
Back in her office, Lena sat frozen, her fingers digging into the armrest of her chair. Rage bubbled dangerously close to the surface, threatening to explode. Just then, the door burst open, and Sylvia rushed in, her phone clutched tightly in her hand.
"Lena, did you post anything online?" Sylvia asked breathlessly.
Lena shook her head in response, irritation flashing across her face. She was just about to scold Sylvia for entering without knocking when
Sylvia’s next words stopped her cold.
"You’re trending online."
Lena’s eyes widened. She snatched the phone from Sylvia and began scrolling frantically. With every swipe, her shock deepened. By the time she reached the end, exasperation washed over her, and then, unexpectedly, a small smile tugged at her lips.
"Do you know who did this?" Sylvia asked carefully.
"Raymond," Lena replied without hesitation. She knew it instinctively.
Suddenly, she laughed, a broken, emotional sound, as tears spilled freely down her cheeks.
Despite their argument earlier that morning, despite everything, he still chose to protect her.
Overwhelmed, Lena covered her face, her shoulders trembling.
Sylvia quietly backed away, closing the office door softly behind her, leaving Lena alone with her emotions.
