As soon as the enormous worm began to recover and raised its head, a slash appeared as someone passed at high speed in front of it, cutting a line across its skin before it could express surprise, being simply split in half.
The ground exploded as Luffy landed in front of it, causing the dust to settle, while he looked on with bored eyes as the worm was divided in two.
"You know... of all the Elders here, youโre the easiest to deal with," Luffy spoke calmly, ignoring all the battles happening with lightning and explosions around him.
The worm fell to the ground, split in two, before simply beginning to float, its head and body rejoining and fully recovering, which made Luffy question just how far that regeneration could go.
Not that he hadnโt already thought about that when he fought Saturn in Marineford, but at that time, Luffy had also gone all out using the awakened powers of both fruits.
The worm glared at him, roaring.
"Iโd like to ask you a question, Elder Peter," Luffy ignored the creatureโs roar of rage and asked directly, staring at it.
"Youโre considered Elder number 1 and the one who makes the decisions in front of the other Elders... That makes me wonder, quite curiously... if your position is just for show. You seem to be beneath Nusjuro and Topman," he said calmly, while the worm didnโt seem to like that.
"Damned pirate... then letโs take this seriously!" the worm spoke for the first time, while Luffy gave a satisfied smile at the response.
"Thatโs what I expected from a creature like you," he said calmly, as his expression began to grow serious. The wormโs body turned completely black, exploding with Armament Haki and also releasing its Conquerorโs Haki to intimidate him.
Not that it would actually work.
The next moment, Luffy dashed forward with his body bursting into flames, striking hard directly against the wormโs skin to try to cut it once more. However, the sword struck the Haki and didnโt pierce through, while Luffy smiled, not minding that the worm was finally fighting for real.
At the same time, the drums of liberation kept pounding as Lucy tried to fight against Topman, throwing several punches, even though the enemyโs skin was tough enough to defend against all of them, even hurting Lucy.
But she didnโt give up, hitting him with multiple blows as he kept chasing her.
"Damn... how is this boarโs skin so strong?" she murmured, before looking up and simply jumping onto the ground, which sank, sending a wave across the whole area. The entire terrain turned to rubber, hindering the boarโs run, causing him to lose some balance.
Lucy leapt from the sky as the boar stopped and looked at her. She simply began drawing air into her lungs.
And it didnโt take long before she started growing. Her body, in an instant, had already become as large as the Titan fighting on the other side of the island.
"Luffy told me, the bigger the size, the stronger the punches... so letโs see!" she said, as she prepared to fight in her giant form.
Throwing a much larger punch than before, she hit the boar once again, making him retreat. The blow pushed him back several meters, and his tough skin began to give way, yielding under the opponentโs attack.
And it was at that moment that students began to appear amid all the chaos throughout the city โ and not just in Night, but all over the world โ giant screens emerged.
"Hello, inhabitants of the entire world. I have a message for all of you regarding the Void Century and my discoveries," Vegapunk appeared, opening with that sentence. This immediately shocked the entire world.
And more than the whole world, it shocked the five Elders who were there fighting against the Dawn Pirates.
โWhat is he planning?โ, they immediately exclaimed, stunned.
โI donโt know, but we better end this quickly. Someone has to reach the base!โ
โMors, can you do it?โ, the Elders spoke to each other telepathically.
Mars, who was still fighting Yamato and avoiding firing his beam so she wouldnโt reflect the attack again, nodded as he distanced himself to gain an advantage. Yamato, before firing, rushed to a corner of the island to get around the cloud and head to the upper area.
Yamato was surprised, but she simply launched forward, creating a line of ice in the sky as her feet slid across it like skates โ a technique she had used to surpass Big Mom with her super-speed created through her fruitโs awakening.
Mars, confident in his own speed, was caught off guard when she suddenly appeared in front of him and struck him on the head, landing a direct hit that made him fall like a rocket.
โDamn... sheโs too fast...โ, Mars muttered, feeling the blood gush out as he quickly regenerated, crashing straight into the city.
Yamato ran toward him while dodging some flying slashes caused by the battle between Zoro and Nusjuro, which was intensifying into a violent clash, with both of them striking at high speed. Slashes flew in every direction, destroying buildings, streets, and even invading the battlefield of other "Ds."
โThis is getting bad...โ, Saturn muttered, as he was attacked by Hugo, Bonney, and other Straw Hats who were starting to corner him, destroying everything around him as he couldnโt escape the continuous assaults.
He was very weakened by his injuries, being pushed back without even being able to counterattack, being overwhelmed so easily.
โIt canโt be that we havenโt been able to defeat even one of them!โ, they exclaimed, with the entire island taken over by attacks and explosions, while the Dawn Pirates stood firm, simply pushing back all the Elders.
โSaturn, you can eliminate your enemies there. Theyโre not as strong as oursโ, Peter said, before feeling a slash strike his side, blood gushing out. It wasnโt a cut strong enough to bring him down, but it certainly filled him with rage as Luffy appeared on the other side with blood dripping from his blade after cutting through Peterโs Haki.
"Well... looks like Iโm stronger, donโt you think?" Luffy commented casually, looking at the massive worm staring at him, baring its teeth.
"I wonโt be able to beat him alone either...", Peter muttered internally, and his gaze went to the sky, where he saw someone standing still.
"Saint Venus!! I demand that you help me in this fight!" Peter called out to the Holy Knight who was hovering in the air, fully aware that she had been on the island since the beginning.
Peter saw no other choice but to ask for her help, while the other Elders were busy trying to escape the Straw Hatsโ pressure.
The woman, with her wings, began to shine, transforming into her hybrid angel form as she disappeared in a flash and reappeared atop the worm like a golden teleport blinking from one spot to another.
Luffy watched the scene carefully, but said nothing.
"As far as I know, Iโve been sentenced to death by Mary Geoise and lost my titles after that broadcast the man made me deliver. You yourselves declared it...", she commented calmly to the Elder.
"Your titles will all be restored as long as you help us defeat Monkey D. Luffy. I guarantee it," the worm said, while the woman fell silent.
Luffy wanted to see her answer. She hated him, there was no doubt. And if she really turned against him there, he would have to kill her.
Bringing a Tenryuubito into the crew had certainly been shocking enough โ and even dangerous โ but he did it because he spoke with her and made her lose her position in Mary Geoise under the deal that she could try to kill him, and she would be free, as long as she didnโt hurt any other crewmate.
It was something Baby-5 used to do, but obviously far more dangerous. After all, between this Tenryuubito and Baby-5, the difference was like heaven and earth.
"No," was all she said, and in the next moment, she simply shone above Peterโs head.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!" he suddenly screamed in pain, both physically and through telepathy.
All the Elders were surprised by it โ even Luffy. That was real pain the Elder was feeling.
Before a burst of holy light erupted from his head, with more screams of agony, Peter fell to the ground, appearing completely burned, while Luffy stood there not understanding any of what that meant.
The angel stared at the worm on the ground for a few seconds, then vanished in a flash and appeared next to Luffy the next moment.
"What was that?" he asked, with a surprised look.
"Iโm not dumb enough to believe they wonโt kill me as soon as I leave the island. After all, itโs precisely this power of mine they fear," she said calmly, without looking at Luffy, only staring at the creature beginning to recover.
"What do you mean by that?" Luffy was still confused, surprised that her attack had done so much damage.
"My powers come from a mythical Zoan Akuma no Mi of a celestial angel. A mystical beast with divine powers. Naturally, itโs very effective against...", she paused, "... demons."
"Are you saying your fruit is a weakness to the Gorosei?" Luffy was shocked by that. Not even his strongest strikes had caused any real pain the Gorosei visibly reacted to when cut, but she simply illuminated him, launched a burst of holy light, and hurt him.
"Yes. Thatโs why I donโt believe Iโll live, even if youโre killed. Theyโll probably kill me, because Iโm a threat. And when I was with the enemy, to the point of traveling with you... They wonโt show mercy," she said in a neutral tone. Despite that, in the end, Luffy could tell she was frustrated. He had destroyed her life in Mary Geoise. But at the same time, it didnโt make sense.
"Why are you doing this? Even if you die, I donโt think youโd do this willingly to help the World Government," he said. It was obvious that this kind of sacrifice was common, and the Holy Knights seemed to have a mentality of sacrificing for the good of the government.
She didnโt show any emotion on her face, just kept her gaze fixed on the creature, now recovering and looking far more furious this time.
"You spared my life when you could have killed me. I owe you one... even if we still have our deal for me to kill you," she said, while Luffy couldnโt help but crack a smile.
