Chapter 73 - The Battle of the Sea — Clash of Emperors

The open sea stretched endlessly in all directions, a vast expanse of blue beneath the sunlit sky. Waves crashed against the sides of Meruem's ship as the Voidreign warriors prepared themselves. The air was heavy, as though nature itself sensed the impending clash of titans.

On the distant horizon, a second warship cut through the waters like a predator. At its bow stood Figarland Shamrock, his blood-red hair waving in the wind, his expression calm and cold. Beside him, the other God Knights radiated monstrous, emperor-level auras. Gunko's arrow-like bandages fluttered, crackling with eerie energy. Sommers loomed like a walking fortress of thorned vines. Killingham's dragon-like form shimmered with heat, smoke coiling from his nostrils.

The two ships drew closer — and then, as though the heavens themselves recoiled in fear, the sky began to darken.

A massive, oppressive aura erupted from Meruem, and the world seemed to hold its breath.

"Here it comes..." Vash muttered, adjusting his shades with a nervous grin.

Meruem raised his hand, a dark sphere of churning, violent Nen gathering above his palm. The technique pulsed with black lightning, warping the clouds above. Its pressure bent the ocean waves, forming spiraling whirlpools around the Voidreign vessel.

"This sea belongs to the Demon King," Meruem declared. "Technique: Abyssal Judgment."

The colossal orb detonated in a beam of black energy that shot across the sky, tearing through clouds and smashing down onto the approaching God Knight ship with the force of a falling meteor.

The sea erupted, a titanic shockwave sending walls of water hundreds of meters high. For a moment, nothing could be seen through the veil of spray and darkness.

But through the mist, four figures burst free — unharmed.

"Tch!, they dodged it." Meruem narrowed his eyes.

Gunko had reacted instantly, using hers Aro Aro no Mi (Bandage-Bandage Fruit) ability to weave floating platforms of hardened bandage strips midair. The other three God Knights easily stood on the bandages, like it was no big deal, as if walking on a solid bridge in the sky, evading the devastating blast that obliterated their ship.

The remains of the warship were swallowed by the sea.

"Hmph. Impressive display." Shamrock spoke for the first time, his voice calm, gaze locked on Meruem. "You must be Meruem. Title: Demon King, right?"

Meruem's crimson eyes glinted coldly.

"You speak my name, but I don't like the way you talk. I don't care about fancy titles or making deals... To me, you're just food for me"

Shamrock remained unshaken.

"Such arrogance. Don't you understand how powerful the God Knights are? Why fight against us? Join us, Meruem. Be a God Knight. Be our weapon or Be our servant.."

The insult hung in the air like poison.

Meruem's lips curled into a cold, dangerous smile.

"Your offer... is interesting. But you've already lost your value. You amuse me as prey, not as a master."

A ripple of killing intent passed between them.

Shamrock's eyes hardened.

"So... negotiations end here."

Above the wreckage of their destroyed ship, the battle lines were drawn.

Vash the Stampede took a step forward, flicking the barrel of his silver revolver. His wild grin returned as his gaze locked onto Sommers, the man of vines.

"I call the tree trunk. Hope you don't mind if I prune you down a bit."

Sommers grunted, thorned vines snapping into motion around his arms.

Blackeye the Panda bared his fangs at Killingham, who had partially shifted into his Mythical Zoan form. Scales glinted under sunlight, smoke curling from his mouth.

"Raw raw raw!" Blackeye roared, pounding his fists together.

Vash tilted his head.

"I still have no idea what you just said, but yeah — go get 'im, buddy."

Uta, standing beside Meruem, kept her eyes fixed on Shamrock. Her heart twisted in quiet rage.

"You wear my father's face... but you're not him. I hate you. I'll never forgive anyone who sullies the image of Shanks."

Her hands trembled briefly, but she steadied herself. Then, her gaze shifted to Gunko.

"I'll handle that toilet paper freak."

Meruem never looked away from Shamrock, his Nen flaring like a dark sun.

"The rest of you, don't die too quickly." Meruem ordered.

In a blink, the God Knights and Voidreign elites vanished from sight — the clash of monstrous combatants shaking the heavens.

On the left flank — Vash vs. Sommers

Vash dodged a barrage of thorny tendrils, spinning in midair and unleashing a volley of energy bullets from his revolver. Sommers snarled, weaving thick vine shields to block the shots.

"You're fast for a gunslinger," Sommers admitted, vines writhing like serpents.

Vash grinned.

"I'm more than fast, leafy. I'm legendary."

He cocked his revolver, the air around him humming with focused energy.

On the right flank — Blackeye vs. Killingham

Killingham roared, his scaled body shimmering as he unleashed a torrent of flame. Blackeye rolled through the inferno unharmed, bamboo staff spinning in his paw.

"Raw raw raw!" the panda bellowed, leaping into the air.

The two collided in an explosion of fists and claws, shaking the bandage platforms under their feet.

Midfield — Uta vs. Gunko

Gunko grinned, launching dozens of arrow-shaped bandages at Uta. The air hummed as she dodged effortlessly, countering with sonic blasts from her voice.

"I don't care who you work for," Uta shouted. "I'll make you regret mocking my father's face!"

Gunko's bandages snapped tighter, attempting to restrain her, but Uta's song shattered them like glass.

Center — Meruem vs. Shamrock

The two strongest figures faced each other in an eerie calm.

Meruem raised his hand again, Nen spiraling around him.

"I wonder how much you can withstand before your bones turn to dust."

Shamrock calmly unsheathed his sword, its crimson blade reflecting the blood-colored sky.

"You'll find your answer soon enough, Demon King."

In an instant, the two blurred, their first clash sending shockwaves so powerful they parted the sea below, revealing the ocean floor.

From the Voidreign Kingdom's walls, Mihawk, Crocodile, and Jessie felt the earth tremble beneath them. The distant sea glowed with bursts of light and darkness.

"So it's begun," Mihawk murmured, his grip tightening on Yoru.

Jessie nodded, his expression unreadable.

"Let's see how long they last."

As the heavens darkened and the ocean roared, the Battle of the Sea had truly begun — and no one would leave it unchanged.
