Chapter 65: How did you guys fall for that?
"Was that supposed to hurt?" Krieg asked, shrugging off his ruined floral-pattern shirt. Light glinted off his golden, Wootz-steel armor. The grey-haired man shifted, activating his armor's weapons, twin Gatling guns appearing from his shoulders.
"Get down!" a chef known as Carne yelled, himself.
Patty, and a half-dozen other chefs diving for cover. But Luffy gave the command, "Zoro cut them."
"With pleasure captain," Zoro said, cutting the bullets and destroying them in the process with two of his sword, even before they could hit a target. And suddenly he disappeared cutting the Gatling gun as well.
Krieg stumbled back a few stepps, falling on his ass. He was awed again by what he saw. Was that even humanely possible? He saw people cut one or two bullets, but not hundreds at once. And he became furious when even his gatling gun was cut off.
But he was cut off as the sword was near his throat, and one sudden move would get himself killed.
Kunia picked one of the bullets up. "Meh... roughly chopped. I could do better."
"Pfft..." Luffy laughed, while Zoro's eyes twitched.
Did he teach Zoro how to cut steel? Yup. Well, technically no... Zoro wanted to learn it himself, and by fighting someone way stronger and with some tips it was possible. You see Zoro was already strong enough to cut steel, but he needed to get the concept down.
And the green-haired swordsman was already working himself towards flying slashes.
"I was holding back!" Zoro said a bit embarrassed. Kuina was amused, but she was also worry that if she didn't train harder Zoro might suppress him one day. And she didn't want that.
"Yeah, keep telling yourself that, mosehead." Sanji said exiting the kitchen. Making way for Zeff to come by. The head chief trod his way past his wounded and lost employees, a large sack over his shoulder like a one-legged Santa. He dropped it in front of the notorious pirate.
"Here," he said. "That's about a hundred meals."
"Head Chef Zeff!" the cooks cried, aghast at the actions of their boss. Krieg seemed to recognize the name because his eyes widened.
"You're 'Red Foot' Zeff," he gasped. "The unrivaled captain who was also the ship's cook. They say you got your name because you only used your feet in battle and they were always covered in the blood of your enemies. So you are alive."
"I am," Zeff nodded. "I lost a leg, but I can still cook."
"Give me your logbook," Krieg demanded. "The Grand Line may have bested me once, but with your logbook, I would be unstoppable! I had the best men. The best equipment. I just lacked the needed information. With it, I'd become the King of the Pirates!"
"Pfft..." Luffy laughed again, "Yeah, like that would happen." He then looked at Gin, "Really Gin. Him. You could have chosen better, like me. This man won't even bat an eye to sacrifice you for his gains. Follow me instead." he said those words jabbing the thumb to himself.
The other crewmates of the strawhat had to say, when recruiting, the rubber brain gained an unworldly amount of charisma. And that was a good offer. Because all of them knew a pirate like that wouldn't be able to handle against Luffy.
"Because I'm gonna be King of the Pirates!" he said with a wiff of his king's haki. Making Krieg fear a bit.
Kunia and Zoro just smirked. They along with the rest of the crew didn't get affected this time, much. So did the other crewmates, though the chiefs and customers behind were a bit pale, except for Sanji and Zeff of course.
"You... you are the bounty hunter, Monkey D. Mario. The man that took out a man of fifty million berry." Krieg said, a bit scared. "I'm sure you used some underhanded tactics."
Luffy gave the other guy a flat look. "This Mario shit is getting a bit boring. Go on, bring your crew... I'm not a bounty hunter anymore, not that I ever was. A hero... meh you can call me that. Anyway, I'm a pirate now, so we fight the old fashion way. A crew against a crew."
"Brat, do you think this is a game right now." Krieg growled, "I don't have time to deal with you right now. After I feed my men, I'll finish you off." The Admiral carried the food out of the broken doors and onto his flagship. Gin stayed behind, tears rolling down his cheeks.
"I am so sorry," he cried, "I am so, so sorry."
"Don't apologize, Gin," Sanji told him. "Once they're fed, I have no obligation toward them. I'll kill any man who attacks this restaurant as long as they have food in their stomach."
"Please," Gin begged. "Please leave, Sanji. I don't wanna see ya die."
"I don't care," Sanji shot back, gesturing to the chefs around him. "We don't care. This restaurant is our livelihood and the old man's dream. We won't abandon it until we're dead."
"Hey, Gin," Luffy interrupted before he could say more. "I thought you said you didn't know anything about the Grand Line."
"I don't know anything anymore. Our entire fleet was wiped out in only seven days! Only because of one stupid island. Those bounty hunters! Curse them. We lost four hundred of our men to them."
Luffy blinked. Was it...
"Whiskey peak!" Luffy said. "How did you guys fall for that? You guys are weak. I'm pretty sure even Zoro could take the whole island down."
It also made Luffy think, so Mihawk wasn't here. Well, there were many changes, so it was understandable. But Luffy really wanted to test himself out against a figure like him.
And he would regret having that thought later on.
Gin shook his head, "You don't know the outside world, Luffy." He shook his head.

"By the way, Gin." Luffy said walking past him, exiting the restaurant, where bots and ships were docked, "Why do you follow your captain, other than the fact that he's your captain of course."
Gin looked at his back before answering, "Don, saved my life years ago. I can't just not repay him."
Luffy hummed at the answer, standing outside. Then he looked at his crewmates, "Kunia don't fight. That stands for you too Sanji and Zoro." That made all three of them nod, though Sanji blinked, why did he nod, he wasn't even the crew. "Nami, Johnny and Yosaku don't engage either. Coby and Usopp! You guys are up."
"I didn't join your crew." Sanji said, as he lit up his cigarette. "But I think I'm a bit overkill for them... and if your crewmates don't finish up fast, the restaurant will take damage..."
"Fine fine... your restaurant can keep all the loot they collect from Don Krieg."
"Deal!"
"Noooo!" said a certain orange-haired girl said.
