One-Shot Transmigration: Sorry I'm Here To Ruin Your Happy Ever After-Chapter 122: The trial(2)
They moved slowly along narrow side streets, careful to avoid the few lanterns still lit in front of houses.
The faint chatter of guards patrolling the streets made them tense, but no one stopped to notice the two figures slipping through the darkness.
Finally, tucked between two larger buildings, they found a modest inn, unassuming and just enough to blend in without inviting attention.
Min‑jae slipped inside first, gesturing for Yura to follow.
The innkeeper looked up briefly, then returned to polishing the counter.
No questions or scrutiny. Here money talked.
Just the faint creak of floorboards as they ascended to a small, second-floor room.
Min‑jae closed the door behind them and leaned against it, exhaling. "We’re safe... for now."
Yura sank onto the edge of the bed, letting the weight of exhaustion hit her. "It’s... really happening, isn’t it? We’re actually inside Aldoria."
Min‑jae knelt beside her, placing a hand lightly on her shoulder. "Yes. Tomorrow we’re going to take that bitch down once and for all.."
Yura smirked! This was her favorite part of the novel, when the villain finally dies.
Her gaze lifted to meet his, a mixture of awe and determination shining through her fatigue. "I’m ready, Oppa.." she said firmly.
Min‑jae allowed himself a small nod. "Good. Because once tomorrow arrives, there’s no turning back. We’ll see this through... and then finally, I’ll be with Meical again. Everything else depends on you looking the part."
Yura straightened, swallowing her fear. "I won’t let you down."
Min-jae smiled, before pinching his brows. He had forgotten to tell Saar to get him clothes as well.
Well it didn’t matter.
Yura was the one who needed to look the part.
Still, he sighed. Stroking his chin, it would be nice to shave his beards and finally comb his hair.
But that would just have to wait.
He paused again, the matter of him killing Veynar and Dorian would also need evidence.
They died so suddenly. Anyone could easily take the fall for it and that’s why he was going to pin the blame on someone else.
And who better to pin the blame on that the culprit herself.
Min‑jae let out a long breath, shoulders finally relaxing. "We’ll make her pay.." he murmured.
But far across Aldoria, past the forests, past the lake, past the walls of the kingdom, in the edge of the capital, another man sat alone in a dark, silent room.
One month.
A full month without Min‑jae.
A month that had torn his life apart piece by piece until nothing was left but anger, exhaustion, and a grief so deep it hollowed him out.
He never knew silence could hurt this much.
The first day... he had buried what was left of his family.
The second... he buried Sanya beside them.
She had survived the massacre only to hold on long enough to whisper that she was sorry she couldn’t protect them.
She apologized for dying so slowly.
She apologized for leaving him alone in a world that was falling apart.
She was gone the next morning.
Meical buried her himself.
His hands were still bruised from digging.
After that, days began to blur.
Twenty‑eight days of searching, chasing threads of rumor, bribing informants, scouring every corner of Aldoria for anything that could clear Min‑jae’s name. Anything that could expose Seraphine.
Anything that proved Min‑jae had not murdered his uncle and cousin.
Anything that would let him rip the throne from Radomir’s hands and end this madness.
But the truth hid like a frightened animal.
And every night... every single night... he laid awake wondering if Min‑jae was alive or dead.
If he had escaped the royal guards.
If he had starved.
If he had been found.
If he missed him.
If he hated him for not protecting him.
The questions were endless.
The answers never came.
And the weight of uncertainty pressed into his chest like a blade.
Until tonight.
A knock broke the stillness of his dim study.
Meical froze.
No one should be here at this hour.
A long second passed.
Then another knock.
Meical’s heart stilled.
"...Come in.." he answered.
The door opened, and there he was, dirt on his boots, cloak ripped at the hem, eyes tired but steady.
Odysseus had returned.
Meical surged forward. "Where is he? Where is Kaizar?"
Odysseus bowed deeply, fist to his chest. "Master. He is alive."
Meical’s knees nearly gave out.
Alive?
Alive!
The word echoed through him like a heartbeat returning to a dead body.
He gripped the edge of the desk to steady himself. "Where is he now? Why hasn’t he come home? Is he hurt? Tell me.."
"I cannot," Odysseus cut in gently. "We separated after crossing Briar Glen. It was... safer that way. I do not know where he went after that.."
Meical straightened slowly, jaw clenching.
Odysseus wasn’t lying.
But he was holding back.
Meical’s eyes narrowed. "There’s a plan, isn’t there? He’s planning something."
Odysseus lowered his gaze. "Master, I promised not to reveal the details. But I can say this, tomorrow will change everything. Madame will clear his name."
"Tomorrow..." Meical whispered.
His pulse quickened.
Hope bloomed for the first time in thirty days.
A dangerous, fragile thing.
"Is he alone?"
"No," Odysseus replied. "He has... help."
Meical didn’t know what that meant, but the relief of knowing Min‑jae wasn’t wandering the world alone eased something sharp inside him.
He stepped back, exhaling slowly. "Very well. If he has a plan, I’ll prepare on my end."
"Yes, Master."
Odysseus bowed again.
But Meical wasn’t done.
There was still one question gripping his heart.
"Odysseus," he murmured. "Did he... say anything? Before he left you?"
Odysseus paused.
Then nodded.
Softly.
He said, ’Tell him I’m coming home.’
Meical shut his eyes, as he patted his chest.
His heart was beating so hard, he felt it would rip out from his chest.
He was coming home.
"Thank you for telling me. You will be heavily rewarded after this Odysseus. Thank you for protecting him. I know he was safe with your presence.."
Odysseus shook his head, he didn’t do much. The madame was smart, he could take care of himself without their help.
