Chapter 1378: Chapter 1274: Conflict

"Is this pit a trap or what?"

"A trap, my ass! I haven’t seen any system prompts at all!"

The unlucky player cursed under his breath, thoroughly frustrated.

"Stop swearing and find the person. If the newcomer gets away, it’s on you!"

A fat man with a torch strode forward, giving the grumbler a kick. Two others followed him, ready to catch the big guy should he lose balance under his own weight. It would be quite embarrassing if he fell. Only after steadying himself did the fat man brandish the torch forward, "Scatter and search, everyone! We must find him today, dead or alive, you hear?"

"Haha, Big Fatty, it’s such a small place. Where could he possibly run? We block the ways out and it’s like catching turtles in a jar, hehehe..."

"The second brother is right, unless he has some invisibility skill, he’s not slipping past us!"

"Hey, even with invisibility, he can’t escape with all exits covered!"

"Quit the chit-chat and go find him!"

The fat man, evidently impatient, wielded his torch, creating a fire dragon, "A hundred gold coins to anyone who finds the score card!"

Hearing the reward, all the subordinates perked up and pounced forward like hungry wolves, industriously searching suspicious spots, enlivening the place.

...

"Score card? What the hell is that?"

Su Ran was full of confusion, watching the bustling players below muttering to himself, "Could this be a system rule? Do you get score cards for killing people here? But what’s the use of a score card anyway?"

"Why care so much? Kill a few people, get a score card, and you’ll find out. It’s simple."

Looking at the dozens of players below, Su Ran couldn’t help but think about wiping them all out in one go.

"No way, how is there nothing? How is this possible?"

Noticing the lack of findings among the group, the fat man’s brow deepened with a heavy frown.

"Look, up there!"

One player glanced up towards the crack above by chance and caught sight of the Firebird in midair. Although far apart, its fiery red color was especially conspicuous in the dark, like Venus in the night sky, nearly impossible to miss!

"Damn, it’s true. At first, I thought it was just the leftover flames from earlier. I nearly got fooled!"

"Second Brother, quick, use the anti-flight talisman you just exchanged for!"

The fat player’s eyes gleamed with excitement, "Anyone with a flying mount must be high-level. This is a big fish we can’t let slip!"

"Haha, I’ve been waiting for your command, Big Brother!"

The player called Second Brother was ecstatic, clenching an old talisman in his hand, "This thing only works here. Outside, it’s just a piece of scrap paper. It’s better to use it than waste it. Let’s give this newbie a taste of what it’s like to lose flight, wahahaha!"

No sooner had the words left his mouth than he tore the talisman to shreds. The no-flight zone was established; the Firebird lost its ability to fly. Accompanied by a shrill cry, it plummeted from the sky.

"Hey, it’s a female player!"

The fat man revealed a knowing smirk only a man would understand, "Brothers, if this girl is too pretty, I’ll feel bad laying a hand on her!"

"Then just keep her alive. Even if we can’t touch, she’s still a feast for the eyes, haha... Holy shit, what’s that?"

Before the player could finish, ten skeleton warriors with shields emerged from the ground. In such surroundings, the terror was amplified manifold, and many players went weak in the knees at the sight of these skeletons.

"Skeletons? Darn, this crappy terrain still has low-level Undead?"

The chubby guy irritably pointed with his torch, "Just some small fries, what’s there to be afraid of? Let’s wipe them out and don’t spoil my mood here!"

"Boom!"

As they were ganging up on the shield-wielding skeletons, Firebird smashed heavily to the ground, scattering sparks and brightening the surroundings quite a bit.

"Who are you?"

With Firebird cushioning the fall, the dandy didn’t suffer much damage. He flipped off his mount, recalled Firebird back into the space, and looked at these players with a wary face. His gaze swept over their faces and, seeing none but strangers, ruled out any enmity. Still, he couldn’t shake off the feeling that they meant no good, so it was better to be cautious.

But...

Why hasn’t Overturning Water shown up yet?

Is he watching the fun?

This damned guy!

Seeing those ten Undead skeletons, the dandy knew that Overturning Water was hiding somewhere nearby. As for where exactly, only the devil knew!

"Hehehe, beauty, in this vast sea of people, meeting is fate, why bother covering your face? Lift the veil, let’s get to know each other a bit better, how about that?"

The chubby man, emboldened by his numerous followers, spoke with confidence. He was sure this woman wouldn’t dare defy his will. In this godforsaken place, if one wanted to survive, how could one manage without being observant?!

The players dealing with the shield-wielding skeletons showed knowing smirks, already accustomed to their boss’s flea-like behavior.

"You!"

The dandy’s face was filled with anger, turning a shade of blue. He had never encountered such shamelessness among all the people he’d met - these players were the first of their kind!

"Swoosh!"

A bone spike flew out of the darkness, fiercely stabbing the chubby boss’s face. A cloud of poisonous mist erupted, tinting his entire body a dark green - and several of his nearby underlings suffered the same fate, their laughter freezing on their faces.

"Who? Who the hell dares launch a sneak attack?"

The chubby guy touched his greasy head and cursed furiously, spittle flying. "Stop playing tricks and show yourself!"

In response, an ice arrow shot out of the darkness, moving so swiftly the chubby man had no time to react. It nailed his head, exploding for over 300 damage.

"Dammit! Everyone search and find out who’s ambushin’ me!"

The chubby boss felt like he had lost all face, especially in front of the woman and his brothers, a flame of rage burning within him as he bellowed, "Whoever kills him gets a reward of 500 gold coins!"

"Pfft."

At this critical moment, the dandy burst into laughter. How could she not know who was behind these tricks? Both attacks had targeted the chubby man’s foul mouth, which showed that, deep down, Overturning Water still cared about her. Thinking of this, her laughter grew even louder.

"You filthy wench, keep laughing and I’ll rip your mouth apart!"

How could the chubby boss, a man of his stature, tolerate being mocked - not even by a beautiful woman! With a fierce look on his face, he angrily strode toward the dandy, shouting, "Speak up, are you in cahoots with that despicable scum? Catch you, and he’ll have to show up!"

"Want to catch me? Just see if you’ve got the skills!"

The dandy, as the guild leader of Singing Song, naturally had her own pride and wouldn’t let these riffraff boss her around. She immediately summoned a blood-red shield, unflinchingly facing the incoming chubby attacker.

The air was thick with the scent of gunpowder, ready to ignite at a moment’s notice.
