The time came to a few minutes earlier, in a medium-sized world comprised of oceans and archipelagos.

"Surrender now, for the stars have aligned, and the great being slumbering in the depths of the sea is about to awaken. Soon the oceans will swallow everything, and all will return to His rule. If you wish to live, the only way is to join us. Stop your meaningless resistance,"

a fish-headed creature with scales covering its body, draped in the long robes of a priest, stood atop the waves, declaring arrogantly to the pirate city protected by a water-blue aquatic barrier ahead.

Beneath his feet were countless dried-up corpses, clad in the same black robes as the Fish-head Priest; their faces showed fanatical contentment, and the unmistakable signs of suicide made it clear that this group of Heretics had just performed a blood sacrifice using themselves as offerings.

The blood of the Heretics dyed the sea beneath the Fish-head Priest red. In his hands, he held an Evil Scripture made from human skin, reciting in his mouth the Profanity that would make any sane person dizzy and mentally disturbed upon hearing it.

Although the Fish-head Priest had just been attempting to persuade them to surrender, he had no intention of taking prisoners. Everything he did was to make the people within the city despair even more. As a priest of the great overlord Kraken, he planned to use every single life within the giant city as a feast to welcome the descent of the Deities.

Meanwhile, in the city, panic-stricken civilians affected by the ritual of the Evil God's descent were a secondary concern. Atop a palace tower in the Central City District, a beautifully dressed, stunningly lovely woman with slightly fin-like ears and some traces of scales on her body watched everything with a distressed expression.

"Lord of the City, what should we do?"

"Lord of the City, is there any hope left for us?"

The guards and maids by the woman's side were also under strain, casting their eyes toward the Lord of the City—who was widely beloved and competent—seeking hope.

But the beautiful Female City Lord was biting her lip tightly. If it were just the cult's priest, she could've easily taken his fish head, but the damned sacrificial ritual had been successful, and the Evil God he worshipped was truly about to awaken, which was cause for despair.

The only thing she could hope for now was that the City Protective Barrier left by the Ancestors could withstand the assault of the Evil God.

But even if the Formation really held against the Evil God's descent, what about subsequent attacks?

The City Protective Barrier was bound to be breached eventually, but rescue...

What rescue could there be? With frequent resurgences of Evil Gods in this world, each great sea city was struggling to survive, let alone having the capacity to aid others.

"So, is the City of the Moon Sea destined to fall today?"

The normally calm Female City Lord now had eyes filled with despair, out of options.

All she could do was watch in fear and panic as serpentine tentacles rose from the sea outside the Barrier. Each one was at least hundreds of meters long, not to mention those were just the parts above the surface—the huge shadow beneath that stretched for kilometers was the true source of despair.

"Great Lord of the Deep Sea, King of Sea Monsters, your devout followers offer you this feast once more..."

The Fish-head Priest laughed maniacally; he couldn't wait to witness the terrified, despairing expressions of those who claimed nobility on a daily basis.

The Evil God responded to his follower's call, extending its massive tentacles to strike the watery Barrier amidst the despair of the people within the city.

The Female City Lord had already resigned herself to her fate, closing her eyes, yet after a long wait, the expected death did not come.

"Has the Ancestors' Formation taken effect?" she thought with joy.

However, when she opened her eyes, she was horror-struck to see that the aquatic Barrier had already been breached. Death had not come simply because at the moment when the Barrier broke, something revealed itself.

It was a fishing line cast from who knows where, with a hook at its end and a worm on the hook.

"A fishhook?"

As one of the People of the Sea, the Female City Lord naturally recognized it; but why on earth was there a fishhook inside the City Protective Barrier? Who the heck would be fishing inside a Barrier, where there couldn't even possibly be fish?

Although she knew it wasn't appropriate to be sarcastic at such a time, the Female City Lord couldn't help herself.

And what was more absurd, compared to the entire city of People of the Sea, the formidable Evil God seemed more interested in the bait on the fishhook. Its mammoth tentacles reached directly for the bait, Greed apparent in the countless eyes within its suction cups, and then the tentacles split open to reveal a gaping mouth, swallowing the bait in a single gulp.

Simultaneously, a terrible roar emanated from the depths of the sea, seemingly the Evil God's praise for the ultimate delicacy.

The reason it was known as praise was because all who heard the sound felt a profound sense of satisfaction from within.

It was well known that Evil Gods are Greedy, never satisfied, so what exactly was hanging on that fishhook that satisfied the darn Evil God?

The Female City Lord was about to mock this in her thoughts, but then she heard the Evil God roar once again. Only this time, it wasn't out of satisfaction, but terror.
