Otaku Witch-Chapter 541: Strategy 425: Collision
```
The small Eight Trigrams Chessboard shot out two tractor beams that brought both players into the fray, and Dorothy could distinctly feel a drawing force tugging at her.
Though the force was not strong, and she could have easily shaken it off had she wanted to, there really was no need to do so.
Once everyone stopped resisting, the players illuminated by the tractor beams rapidly shrank and were absorbed into the chessboard, which was actually no bigger than a tabletop.
Afterward, those who remained in the outside world saw the landscape within the chessboard dramatically shift and tremble, revealing a complex war map.
The map was octagonal, with bases of both sides located on the east and west edges, respectively. The contestants who had been drawn into the board were now waiting in these bases.
With a blink, Dorothy found herself atop a temple-like building, seated on a throne at the pinnacle of the temple, and below her in the great hall, the 12 Witch Inquisitors she had chosen were present.
The Homebody Witch looked up towards the temple's exterior, only to find that everything outside the temple was obscured by a thick black mist, shrouding it all in uncertainty.
"Well, well, they've even thrown in a fog of war feature, huh?"
Dorothy wasn't surprised by this; after all, it's a common element in strategic games.
The most critical aspect of strategy games is to establish an information advantage. Whichever side could scout more of the map and grasp more of the enemy's movements would gain the upper hand.
And once every move of the enemy is under surveillance, victory in the war becomes easily within reach.
She glanced down at the side of her throne and saw a map that broadly displayed the shape of the chessboard, though it was also shrouded in darkness, showing nothing but the bases of both sides for the time being.
"Eh, why are there only witches as heroes? Where's the Servant Army as the pawns?"
The Homebody Witch surveyed the great hall below but saw only witches, no signs of the Otherworldly Servant Army, which puzzled her slightly.
However, as soon as such doubts arose in her mind, the answers naturally came to her.
It seemed that the chessboard could inject the rules of the game directly into the players' minds—all questions were immediately answered upon emerging.
"Pretty high level, isn't it?"
Dorothy murmured, quickly perusing the freshly revealed rules and quickly grasped everything.
The pawns in this War Chess were considered a resource; players needed to send heroes out to explore the map, search for resources in the map's expanse, and then bring those resources back to base to build an Armory, unlocking specific troop types.
Even the Armory had different levels with classifications like Black Iron, Bronze, Silver, and Gold, corresponding to four levels of Races, dictating that you could only produce pawns of a certain level from an armory of that level.
Even the speed of producing pawns was linked to the level of your base, and the level of your base was determined by the number of resource points under your command...
With the rules explained up to this point, one could roughly understand the gameplay of this War Chess.
It involves sending people out to reveal the map, compete for resources, capture key resource points in the early stages, then use the abundance of resources to upgrade the Armory, produce higher-level troops, lead these troops to seize even more resource points, enhance the level of your base, and thus speed up the production of troops—ultimately snowballing to expand your advantage.
"Hmm, I've got it all figured out now."
Sitting upon the throne, Dorothy nodded to herself with this thought, then linked with the 12 witches below through a telepathic link, forming a temporary group chat where she shared the game rules.
"So, Lord Clown, do you want us to start dispersing now, exploring the map and seeking out resource points?"
The new Inquisitors looked over the game rules, and Madeline, donning the Paladin mask, stepped forward with this question.
"No, I want eight of you to go straight to a team fight right from the start. Head to the center line of the map and set an ambush, and if you encounter a lone Angel, give them a just beating—but remember not to delve too deep. As for map exploration, the remaining four can spread out and scout," Dorothy instructed.
What she hated the most was micromanagement. In gaming, she truly enjoyed bashing; when in doubt, you just charge in first and consider other options if that fails.
Moreover, this wasn't about being reckless. How could strategic warfare be reckless? This was about catching the enemy off guard, attacking them where they least expected it.
"Right, Holy Knight, Frost Snow Lady, Little Bun, Phoenix, Ghost Mask, Star Burial, Elemental Queen, Phantom Girl, the eight of you go," Dorothy called out the eight most powerful among the twelve, and with a wave of her hand, eight beams of Spiritual Light burst forth from her palms, turning into small flags that merged into each of the eight.
As the player behind the chessboard, the Homebody Witch couldn't leave the base and therefore couldn't join the fray herself, but she could still use all auxiliary means at her disposal.
The eight small flags were actually eight Spells: Heaven Curse, Earth Curse, Wind Curse, Cloud Curse, Dragon Curse, Tiger Curse, Bird Curse, and Serpent Curse. Each Curse on its own was basically a superior buff, but once combined, they would create a special Formation, namely a miniature Eight Trigrams Formation.
