At this moment, even the ever-confident Tao Yuanweng sensed that something was amiss. While harboring doubts in his heart, he shouted angrily at his disciples, "What are you standing around for? Hurry up and capture this thief!"
The disciples from Peach Blossom Spring looked at each other, knowing that this robust man would not be easy to deal with. But, constrained by their master's command, they had no choice but to muster their courage and timidly step forward. They reached into their treasure bags and pulled out a set of shackles, making a move as if to place them on the opponent's neck. However, seeing someone approaching, Suhabaru's ferocity erupted, causing him to struggle even more fiercely. The vines creaked under the strain as he unleashed beastly roars towards them.
"This villain is so ruthless, don't blame me for being merciless! You brought this upon yourself!" Upon seeing this situation, Tao Yuanweng's anger surged, and he muttered a quiet incantation, stepping forward swiftly. Hands forming gestures, his mouth moved with chants, and talismans leapt out of nowhere, enveloping the vines one after another. As more talismans adhered, the vines turned red-hot as if they had been roasted over high heat, releasing an astonishing amount of heat. Even Pei Yan, who had retreated outside the wall, could feel waves of heat rushing at him. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
Suhabaru, who was entangled in these vines, clearly wouldn't feel much better. His eyes were bloodshot, bulging out of their sockets from the pressure. His mouth was dry and panting heavily with a voice gone hoarse from the roaring, while his body was tightly bound by the creaking vines, which made cracking sounds of bones breaking. The muscles exposed outside the ropes turned from bloodless purplish to scorched black, exuding a pungent burnt smell.
Seeing this, even Pei Yan thought Suhabaru would have no chance of turning the tables. Just as he sighed, thinking today's ordeal would soon be over, a long howl suddenly echoed from the courtyard. Startled, Pei Yan looked up to see Suhabaru raising his head toward the sky, emitting a wolf-like howl. At the same time, his face began to change, sprouting fur incessantly. His chin started to become sharp, his face elongated, and his ears stretched backward. In no time, what was once a human face had turned into a wolf's face,
"Werewolf?" Pei Yan unintentionally blurted out the words, as did the others, raising their heads to the air, where the crowd from the Magic Realm was observing. Everyone knew that werewolves were among the unique members of the Dark Council in the Magic Realm. Under the watchful gaze of the public, the people from the Magic Realm also wore serious expressions, their eyes fixed intently on Suhabaru, enshrouded in astonishment and confusion.
While those outside were astonished, inside, Tao Yuanweng was frightened. Suhabaru's transformation into a werewolf unleashed an unfathomable level of power, causing the vines entwining him to rupture under his suddenly expanding and struggling form. As the initial vines broke, Suhabaru gained more space to move. He used his sharp teeth to continually gnaw at the remaining vines and extended his wolf claws to tear them apart simultaneously.
Tao Yuanweng realized the gravity of the situation and accelerated his hand movements. More talismans flew out to reinforce the vines, and even the stone pillars fixing the vines exerted force, sending streaks of lightning through the vines onto Suhabaru. However, contrary to his wishes, instead of suppressing Suhabaru's rampage, it further provoked his ferocity. He let out a few spine-chilling howls, crashing back and forth in a desperate frenzy. Try as Tao Yuanweng might to cast spells while sweating profusely, it had no effect; the vines, along with the fixed stone pillars, were continuously torn and collapsed.
Knowing that he could no longer restrain this fiend, Tao Yuanweng had no choice but to float backward to safety, stepping on the ground. Being perceptive, he withdrew from the danger early, but his disciples weren't so lucky. Several of them didn't react in time to dodge and became the prime targets of Suhabaru's wrath after breaking free. With a swift leap, Suhabaru dashed toward a disciple, clawing upward with a single swipe. The disciple instinctively raised his arms to block but only heard the sound of bones snapping and ligaments tearing, followed by a painful wail. The disciple, along with his severed arm, soared into the air before crashing to the ground, leaving behind a corpse with entrails spilling out.
It didn't end there. Transforming into a fierce beast, Suhabaru pounced left and right, and in the blink of an eye, not a single disciple in the courtyard could escape alive. They all met a tragic end at his hands. After biting off a disciple's neck, Suhabaru spat out the flesh from his mouth, looking menacingly at Tao Yuanweng with a disdainful, provocative gaze.
"Evil, evil, evil thief!" Tao Yuanweng stuttered, unsure whether it was fear or anger. After managing to shout this phrase, he pointed at Suhabaru with hatred, "How dare you run rampant and take the lives of my disciples. Today, even if it means mutual destruction, I will rid the world of you, this great menace!"
Saying this, Tao Yuanweng reached into his treasure bag and pulled out a massive gourd. Twisting the cork, a rich aroma of alcohol burst forth, even enticing Pei Yan, who usually had no fondness for such beverages, to close his eyes, captivated by the scent. Just then, someone lightly nudged his waist and reminded him, "Channel your primal energy to resist this alcohol odor, do not succumb to it."
Snapping out of his delightful reverie, Pei Yan shivered, realizing the peculiar nature of the alcohol scent. He quickly followed the person's instruction to circulate his primal energy to protect his mind. Regaining clarity, he turned to nod in thanks at Elder Zuo, who had spoken up to remind him.
In the brief moment of Pei Yan's distraction, the scene changed again within the field. Tao Yuanweng, who had opened the wine gourd, held it with his hand, tilted his head back, and gulped down the wine. After drinking heartily while floating in mid-air, Tao Yuanweng casually tossed the wine gourd into the distant skies. Though the wine gourd did not fall for some time, shortly thereafter, a light rain began to drizzle from the sky. Pei Yan reached out to catch the raindrops, sniffing them near his nose and furrowing his brow. He tentatively licked the rainwater, finding it rich and fragrant at first, leaving a lingering aroma. However, after staying briefly in his mouth and being swallowed down, it immediately burned like blistering flames, turning Pei Yan's face red, making his body feverish and his breathing rapid.
This rain was actually all alcohol! How much wine did that gourd contain? After several rounds of circulating primal energy to suppress the alcohol, Pei Yan looked up at the sky, his eyes full of bewilderment.
Under the baptism of the alcoholic rain, Tao Yuanweng, also flushed and claiming to pluck peaches while drunk, let out a long belch, releasing a dense liquor vapor. The vapor pierced through the rain curtain, rushing toward Suhabaru beneath. Seeing this, he swung his large hand to strike at the alcohol vapor. When the two collided, the vapor was dispersed with a single swing, while blood splattered from Suhabaru's arm, leaving a sizable wound. The blood mingled with rainwater, dripping onto the water surface and creating ripples, as a new round of confrontation was about to erupt.
