"I'm fine now!" Having regained his composure, Pei Yan stopped Gu Shenghui, who was thinking of replacing him, stretched lazily and smiled slight at his sister, saying, "Phew, I was just too excited before the match, but I've calmed down now."
"Are you really okay? Don't force yourself! It's still not too late for us to use an alternate participant, trust me, we can still win without you, so please go rest," Pei Jin said, looking worriedly at her brother, whose face was gradually regaining color.
"Alright, I'm fine! We've been preparing for so long, how could I back out now?" Pei Yan said, turning his attention back to the arena and the wristbands his sister was distributing. He vaguely recalled an Immortal Child coming near to distribute them earlier but hadn't paid attention, so he asked urgently, "Sis, what are these things?"
"These are our credentials for the competition!" Pei Jin said as she handed the wristband to Pei Yan and continued, "Put this on, and once you enter the array, it will automatically activate a self-healing array. As long as you don't suffer a fatal blow, you can restore to the state before entering the arena once you remove the wristband and exit the match."
Listening to Pei Jin's explanation, Pei Yan smoothly slipped the wristband onto his wrist. Watching the wristband, green light burst forth the moment it encircled his wrist, Pei Jin continued to explain from the side, "This green light represents your physical condition. When it starts to show red, it means the damage you've endured has reached your physical limit. If you don't remove the wristband and continue fighting, there's a risk of death."
"The Daoist Realm does come up with miraculous things like this. So taking off the wristband means surrendering, right?" Pei Yan raised his wrist, looking at the wristband with interest and asked curiously.
"Right, taking off the wristband or having it taken by the opponents means failure. The team left standing without being eliminated wins the championship. If the rare situation occurs where two teams fall simultaneously, the rankings are determined by the number of people each team has eliminated," Xia Yu, fiddling with his wristband, interjected.
"Quite straightforward." Pei Yan nodded. At this point, another wave of loud discussion surged, and he looked up to see the team that truly drew attention in this competition, Bloodsabre, arriving fashionably late amidst boos and curses from the audience. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
"Hehehe, no matter what kind of dirty dealings are behind the scenes with the Bloodsabre, at least in the hearts of ordinary cultivators, this group has been branded as demons," Pei Yan joked, looking at the furious audience from several realms.
Ye Ruozai smiled in agreement and said, "Yeah, they're kind of like public enemies, everyone wants a piece of them. It's impressive that they have the courage to participate under such pressure. Their attire matches their villainous demeanor perfectly. Do they dress like this to make sure everyone knows they're demons?"
Just as Ye Ruozai said, Bloodsabre, apart from the Investigation Department, was the only team in uniform attire. Pei Yan thought their own outfits were already ostentatious, but seeing Bloodsabre made them seem normal. The team was cloaked from top to bottom in pitch-black robes with blood-red patterns, from which dark red mist constantly emanated, and each face was masked with an eerie specter-like mask, their aura exuding a spine-chilling fear.
This team, expressing their beliefs without reservation, walked to the podium, seizing the wristbands from the Immortal Child before distributing them to their members, then moving away from the participants from the five realms to silently stand in a corner of the arena, waiting for the competition to begin.
"Can you do that? Everyone has a mask, so who knows what they look like? It's strange how their aura seems unified, similar to our training results," Zheng Jia Ru remarked, pensively stroking his chin as he watched them enter.
"Indeed, just as Lin Junzhao said, each realm has its own combined technique. If they're daring enough to compete, they must have something up their sleeves. We just don't know if there's anyone from Bai Ze in that group," said Pei Yan, scrutinizing the Bloodsabre team, attempting to sense any familiar presence. But the moment his consciousness touched them, it was blocked by that thin mist, unable to penetrate deeper and immediately catching the opposition's attention, who turned hostile gazes his way.
"Their defense is quite tight. No matter if Bai Ze is in there or not, remember, if we encounter this team, don't hold back, unleash all firepower, take down as many as we can before they escape," Pei Yan withdrew his senses and glared back fiercely, expressing with venom. After several encounters, the animosity between the sides had already escalated beyond reconciliation – a showdown was inevitable!
As Pei Yan finished saying this, the elder of the Immortal Palace, hosting the event, was wrapping up his speech. Suddenly, Pei Yan sensed the ground underfoot tremble slightly, causing him to stagger sideways. As he turned back, he saw a crack splitting the ground behind him, widening steadily, as a giant transparent sphere gracefully ascended into the air above the arena.
"This is where we will enter the competition arena." Zheng Jia Ru looked up at the sphere, from its smooth surface, faintly seeing a lush, verdant landscape resembling a paradise.
"It's a pity such a beautiful scene will soon be destroyed by battle," Pei Yan remarked, genuinely lamenting as he followed everyone's gaze.
"Look, they're starting to enter on that side."
Pei Yan was alerted by Xie Yu's reminder and looked in the direction indicated, seeing teams guided by the Immortal Children, one by one, marching to the raised platform at the center stage. After placing their wristbands on the platform, a white light flashed, and each team disappeared before his eyes. Meanwhile, enormous screens rose in the venue, displaying the actions of each team within the sphere, for the audience to watch the competition up close.
"Not bad, it's pretty official!" Pei Yan commented as he walked toward the platform under the guidance of the Immortal Child.
Watching the different environments each team was in on the screens, Ye Ruozai furrowed her brows and said, "It seems that to prevent teams from immediately clashing the moment they enter, each team is teleported to a different location. This makes the situation more complicated for us once we're inside. I'm not sure if the agreement to strike Bloodsabre still holds. What if we encounter Bloodsabre first? Or run into non-Demon allies, should we fight or temporarily join forces?"
