The lightning-infused blades floated in the air under Pei Yan's control and swooshed towards the battlefield like the scythes of Death, swiftly cutting through the crowd and relentlessly harvesting the lives of the puppets. In the blink of an eye, over a hundred puppets present were once again utterly destroyed and reduced to ashes.

This was not the end. The endless thunderclouds above Pei Yan's head unleashed a continuous barrage of heavenly thunder onto the battlefield. Each puppet, just forming, was instantly turned to dust by the lightning. This repeated several times until the entire battlefield was scorched earth, and the dust from the disintegrated puppets hung suspended in the air, refusing to disperse. No matter how Amendina tried to urge them, she could no longer make them form again.

"Detrich, are you just going to sit back and watch?" Amendina's voice, helpless and indignant, echoed from the void.

The member of Bloodbane, known as Detrich, chuckled upon hearing this, lifted his hood, and removed his mask, revealing a rugged face seemingly carved from stone. On his face, which exuded the charm of a mature man in his forties, a long scar ran from his right earlobe to the corner of his mouth. When he grinned, the scar twitched slightly, adding a savage touch to his appearance.

"I thought you could handle him on your own! Don't you have that secret move you haven't used yet? Use it!" Detrich said while removing his robe, revealing the combat gear underneath. He reached for his waist, drew two combat daggers, and twirled them in the air with a taunting gesture.

"Now is not the time for useless sarcasm. You should know that my ability is best employed when the other party's consciousness is weak. I initially believed that these puppets would be enough to exhaust Pei Yan, allowing me to use my powers. But who knew this group was so useless?" Amendina's furious voice urged again.

"It's not them who are useless but that person is too strong!" Detrich said sincerely, looking at Pei Yan. Despite usually looking down on Amendina, the venomous black widow, he had a clear recognition of her strength. To deal with ordinary enemies, her real power wasn't needed; just the puppets crafted by the organization, based on her abilities, were enough to crush the Plane Cultivators. This was one reason why the organization sent her to compete this time.

However, she encountered her nemesis this time. Pei Yan, indeed the most prominent ESP user in recent years, maneuvered freely amidst the siege of over a hundred ESP puppets. His effortless display showed that he wasn't even fighting at full strength. It seemed he had drawn a particularly unfavorable lot.

With this thought, Detrich slowly stepped past the area of thunder strikes, approached Pei Yan's side, and asked, "I heard you defeated Suhabaru."

Pei Yan, watching the conversation between the two coldly, turned to this person and sneered, "Want revenge for him? Then you've found the wrong person. I may have beaten him half to death, but the one who really captured him wasn't me. You should go find that Lin Daozi."

"Someone is already tasked to deal with that Lin Daozi, but since you once defeated him, I really should thank you."

Hearing Detrich's out-of-context words, Pei Yan frowned slightly, puzzled, but saw him pat the enormous scar on his face with his dagger and smile, "See this scar? He left it. I've always wanted to find a chance to end him, but the boss wouldn't let me!"

"Oh, so you're his defeated subordinate?" Pei Yan realized and sarcastically remarked, "As the defeated subordinate of my defeated subordinate, do you think you're qualified to challenge me?"

Detrich shook his head with a wry smile, "I only said this scar was left by him, not that he won against me. After that competition, he lost an arm but healed it himself, while I consider it a great humiliation to have such a scar left by someone like him on my face. I will keep it until I kill Suhabaru and wash away the shame before removing it."

"What are you trying to prove by telling me all this?" Pei Yan looked around at the puppets that could no longer form and then at Detrich, somewhat impatient.

"I'm just pointing out that you stole my prey and, at the same time, got my best friend killed!" As Detrich finished speaking, the smile on his face vanished, and he lunged towards Pei Yan, aiming to slash his most vulnerable throat with a dagger.

Bang! The long sword and combat dagger clashed, emitting a harsh metallic screech. Pei Yan was surprised as he noticed a small notch on his sword while the opponent's dagger remained unscathed. Although the unassuming sword seemed simple, it was in fact crafted with the finest composite materials from both the real world and Hell, along with top-tier materials, having never been damaged except by pseudo-Divine Artifacts. He couldn't fathom what material this unremarkable dagger was made of.

The shock was brief, but Pei Yan quickly regained his composure after the initial surprise. He wielded his sword and engaged in combat with his opponent. After several exchanges, Pei Yan gained a preliminary understanding of the man named Detrich. Though he was far superior in battle compared to those puppets, in terms of strength and speed, he was several levels below the transformed Suhabaru. His movement speed barely kept up with Pei Yan in his unenhanced state, leaving Pei Yan baffled about what gave this man the nerve to challenge him.

No longer interested in probing further, Pei Yan deflected one of the opponent's daggers with his sword, sidestepped to evade the other dagger thrust, and fired an electromagnetic cannon at point-blank range onto his opponent's head. Blood and brain matter splattered everywhere. Looking at the falling body, Pei Yan did not relax at all. After several encounters with the Bloodbane people, he had a clear understanding of their tenacious, almost immortal physique. Thus, he kicked the corpse and summoned a few bolts of heaven's thunder to strike down. Only after he was sure that the body was completely destroyed did he finally let out a long breath.

"Cluck, cluck, cluck!"

Just as Pei Yan felt a bit relieved, he heard Amendina's coquettish laughter from the void, looked up at the sky, and mocked, "What, do you have a grudge against him? Are you so happy that your companion died? Hey, old woman, your pawns are gone. Are you planning to keep hiding in the shadows?"

"Who are you calling an old woman!" Amendina was obviously extremely annoyed by Pei Yan's term, shrieking angrily. But just as she was halfway through her outburst, she stopped abruptly and switched to giggling mockingly, "Hehe, you have the mood to bicker with me here, but worry more about your own situation! You've provoked the most troublesome opponent. If I were you, I'd rip off that wristband and leave this match immediately. Otherwise, you'll be in for some serious pain."
