Otherworldly Affairs Office-Chapter 772: Reversal (Please Subscribe)
Watching Pei Yan perform a pulling gesture at his wrist after a sigh and then disappear into a blinding flash of white light, Detrich stood dumbfounded on the battlefield, unable to believe that victory had come so easily!
"Did he really withdraw?" Amendina, also participating in the competition for the first time, asked uncertainly.
Detrich shook his head, uncertain. Then he released his source energy, sweeping the entire space and focusing on investigating Pei Yan's previous activity range. After confirming that there was no Jiezhi Space or similar space artifacts present, he finally breathed a sigh of relief and nodded, "He should really be out."
After saying this, both of their tense hearts settled down. Two flashes of light appeared, revealing Amendina, who had been hiding in the shadows, and another Detrich. The newly appeared Detrich walked over to the external split body and patted its shoulder, causing it to immediately dissolve into a pool of flesh and blood. It then transformed into streams of flowing liquid, which entered Detrich's body through his sleeves. After his clothes bulged briefly, everything returned to normal.
"Phew, Suhabaru didn't lose unfairly. Pei Yan is indeed formidable, but even with you and me, we might not be able to handle him," Amendina remarked, dabbing her sweaty forehead with a silk handkerchief in admiration.
"That's why the organization chose the two of us to deal with him. Apart from those two guys personally mentored by the Head, I really can't think of anyone from the younger generation who could manage him!" Detrich, although proud, recognized his limits. Through their exchanges earlier, he understood that even if he put in his full effort, he wouldn't be a match for that young man. Thinking about this, a burning fire of humiliation and jealousy kindled within him.
Amendina couldn't help but laugh coquettishly and smugly, "So what if he's strong? Didn't we still calculate him out of the competition?"
She paused to survey her surroundings and said, "Now the urgent task is to fulfill our promise and inform Alexia to release those two kids. I wouldn't want to be hunted down by someone like that after leaving."
After saying this, Amendina pulled out a Bluetooth earpiece and placed it on her right ear, tapping it lightly twice. A moment later, seeming to hear a response, she immediately relayed what had happened there to the other side. Moments later, her expression changed and she started to shout, but after only a couple of yells, her voice abruptly stopped. Enraged and humiliated, she yanked off the earpiece and smashed it onto the ground, stomping it to pieces.
"What got you so worked up?" Detrich asked, frowning at the furious woman before him in confusion.
"Alexia, that idiot, was so provoked by those two brats that he's now furious beyond measure. He won't agree to let those two leave, no matter what I say. Now we can only hope that those kids have the sense to tear off their wristbands and exit the competition themselves," Amendina said irritably, running her hands through her hair.
Upon hearing this, Detrich appeared relatively calm, mocking, "Our promise to that brat was merely a casual remark, designed to save us a bit of trouble. Amendina, as a member of Divine Desire, you're not seriously planning to be the kind of goody-two-shoes who keeps her promises, are you?"
"What do you know! I'm the one who brought up the promise. If I don't fulfill it, I'll be the first to be blamed when we get back! Without the leverage of hostages, or the protection of the Divine Artifact Space, do you understand the danger I'll face?!" Amendina retorted sharply to his mockery, "And don't make sarcastic remarks here. Don't forget you were also part of the promise. Think about Suhabaru, look at Li Songtao, and consider Shitang Longsi, who hides beside his master desperately seeking power. Do any of these who angered Pei Yan have a good outcome? Being remembered by him is no good fortune!"
After this speech, seeing Detrich not convinced and wanting to argue, Amendina immediately raised her hand to interrupt him and said first, "Forget it, arguing about this now won't do any good. For the ongoing competition, we should hurry to Alexia's place to stop him from making more mistakes, release those two boys, and then join up to assist the two Young Masters. After all, each of them is dealing with a Child of Origin, and I'm worried they might be at a disadvantage. If anything happens to them, all our efforts to push Pei Yan back would be for nothing."
Seeing the logic in her words, Detrich decided not to argue further. He expressed his dissatisfaction with a snort, but the two who had reached consensus were ready to manipulate space to head to Alexia when suddenly a familiar yet fear-inducing voice rang in their ears, "You know, I despise those who break their promises and deceive me the most!"
Their pupils dilated in an instant upon hearing this, cursing together as they tried to escape into the Superpower Space to hide their presence. But they were too late. A gentle white light enveloped them entirely, and when their visions returned, they found themselves standing within a white, boundless space. Before them stood Pei Yan, who was supposedly out of the competition!
"Damn it! We've been played!" Detrich cursed loudly, immediately realizing what had happened as he saw Pei Yan still wearing his wristband.
"Didn't you check that there was no space-based equipment present!" Amendina angrily yelled, feeling her scalp tingle as Pei Yan coldly smirked at her, for now, she could no longer contact the outside Divine Artifact Space—they were trapped in this space!
"This is not a space artifact; it's a space ability! His personal ability!" Detrich retorted.
"What? His ability? When did he gain the power of a parallel space! His previously inherited camera space ability wasn't like this! Damn intelligence team for missing such crucial information!" Amendina screamed in frustration, pulling at her hair.
"Hey, are you two done with the mutual blame? Can we talk now about our promise?" Pei Yan interjected, sneering coldly at the raging pair while rubbing his wrists. "I told you one's words from Divine Desire aren't to be trusted. Do you have anything left to say? Or anywhere to hide!" Pei Yan taunted. Indeed, he had employed a little trick earlier—pretending to tear off his wristband but in reality, he entered the Superpower Space acquired from Li Songtao's Origin Fragment ability.
He had gambled! Betting that Bloodshed was also competing for the first time and unfamiliar with the scene when being eliminated and leaving the competition. The truth proved he gambled right! The opponents indeed didn't know what the scene would be like with the wristband tore off, thus mistakenly assuming what they saw was Pei Yan voluntarily quitting the competition!
