Otherworldly Affairs Office-Chapter 811: The Final Duel (Part 2)
The moment they clashed again, neither held back. As the duel commenced, Xia Yu hurled over a dozen iron swords from her side to probe her opponent. This time, Bedivere didn't dodge either. As the flying swords shot forward, he reversed his grip on the longsword, stabbing it into the ground and shouted: "Advanced Spatial Magic. Beast Fighting Arena! Advanced Earth Magic. Dungeon Technique!"
These words caused Xia Yu, who was suspended in the air, to uncontrollably plummet downward. When she stabilized herself and attempted to fly higher again, she discovered her head seemed to be covered by an invisible net, preventing her from flying more than seven or eight meters from the ground. At the same time, the earth beneath her trembled, and one after another, earth spikes shot upwards like bamboo shoots after rain. Seeing the dense forest of earth spikes rushing toward her, Xia Yu instinctively waved her arms and shouted: "Repulsion!"
"Earth Magic Addition. Mountain Pact!" Bedivere's voice echoed from somewhere deep within the forest of earth spikes. As the voice reached her, Xia Yu's abilities crashed into the spikes. Apart from the few spikes closest to her being completely shattered, the remaining spikes merely wobbled slightly, standing firm and unmoved.
No sooner had the earthen spikes been shattered, leaving Xia Yu with no time to think of how to counter the changing situation, a shadow suddenly shot out from within the spikes, charging straight at Xia Yu.
Sensing the menacing wind behind her, Xia Yu sent out a repulsive force wave. However, the momentum behind did not diminish. Turning around, Xia Yu realized Bedivere was advancing rapidly toward her, riding a path formed by extended earth from a nearby spike, holding two swords and about to reach her.
Recalling the fight earlier when he mentioned that as long as his feet were connected to the ground, he could leverage the earth's power to counter her repulsion, Xia Yu cursed his cunning as she grabbed a few nearby iron swords. With a swift maneuver, she molded them into an iron ball and injected electromagnetic energy into it, hurling it fiercely at the charging Bedivere.
"Holy Shield Technique!" At such a close distance, with an attack resembling a small electromagnetic cannon barrage, Bedivere had no time to evade. He raised his left arm, holding one sword with his right, and following a low growl, a radiant shimmer emerged from his arm, rapidly expanding into a light shield that encompassed his form entirely.
Boom! The collision of the iron ball and light shield caused an explosive shockwave that affected Xia Yu's close-range assault, causing her to stumble in the air, nearly crashing to the ground. Just barely stabilizing herself in the aftermath of the blast, the smoke not yet dissipated, Bedivere's figure had already reached her, crashing directly into her with his damaged shield.
Xia Yu felt like a giant hammer had struck her chest, launching her body like a cannonball, with no time for even a cry. Yet, despite the setback, Xia Yu was no easy prey. As her body flew backward, with a flick of her hand, she commanded all the iron swords around her using electromagnetic force to stab toward Bedivere.
Facing an unavoidable rain of swords, Bedivere smiled slightly. He hurled his longsword fiercely toward Xia Yu. The sword traced an arc in the air, then suddenly ignited, transforming into a flaming sword. Seeing such a slow-moving attack approaching her, Xia Yu barely exerted any effort, tilting her head slightly, allowing the flaming sword to skim past her.
At the same moment the flaming sword brushed past Xia Yu, the electromagnetic sword array pierced toward where Bedivere had been. But all that it met was empty air, Bedivere having vanished. Xia Yu sensed trouble, but too late—a searing heat erupted right behind her!
"Repulsion! Ugh! Pfft!"
After the clash, the two figures separated mid-air, one soaring upward, the other falling earthward. Moments later, clutching the wound on her abdomen, Xia Yu spat a mouthful of clotted blood, shakily rising from the ground. Thankfully, she had reacted in time, releasing repulsion to deflect the sword and save her life. Yet, the encounter had left her battered and bruised.
She gazed skyward at Bedivere, who had transformed into a fiery figure. No need to ask, he revealed the secret: "I mentioned I am an energy being formed by the faith and devotion of followers. Thus, I can move freely within any elemental body constructed by my Magic. Such a technique was beyond me in life. This is why I say it's an almost unfair method. I didn't wish to win against you this way, yet I had no choice."
Xia Yu nodded with a bitter smile, saying nothing more. She had seen similar techniques—an upgrade of the Demon Race's fog-forming skill. With this thought, she did not summon more flying swords. Instead, she ascended into the sky, clutching her abdomen wound with one hand, pointing to the heavens with the other. At her fingertips, streams of iron mixed with electromagnetic power gathered into a mass above her head.
Her stamina couldn't sustain drawn-out combat any longer. Her next attack had to be lethal—a single strike to decide it.
Seeing Xia Yu assume this stance, Bedivere quickly deduced her intention. The scales of victory had tilted in his favor. As an energy being, as long as he didn't suffer catastrophic damage causing instantaneous collapse, he could recover from any injury swiftly—something beyond Xia Yu's capability. By continuing to engage her and inflicting continuous harm, it wouldn't be long before Xia Yu succumbed. Though such tactics were despicable, combat allowed for no moral high ground. With this in mind, Bedivere lowered his position, concealing himself once more within the forest of earth spikes.
"Trying to pull the same trick again, old man? I'm no fool!" Xia Yu, pale-faced, sneered at the sight, disregarding the slowing mending of her wound. She reached out her hand, once pressing the wound, toward the ground, softly murmuring: "Heavy as a Mountain. Domain. Gravitational Field!"
You, Bedivere, with the divine gift can withstand negative spells, but such a skill works only on yourself, not on the vast number of earth spikes you summon. Likewise, while the earth spike technique can resist the impact of repulsion, it may not withstand an increase in gravity!
Just as Xia Yu anticipated, under her gravitational field's augment, the earth spikes finally could not bear the exponentially increased own weight. They started to collapse, crashing to the ground and being pulverized under the enhanced gravity.
In a blink, the once-dense bamboo forest-like cluster of earth spikes vanished, leaving only a solitary spike standing. No need for exploration, Xia Yu knew that inside the remaining spike was where Bedivere resided, immune to danger due to his own negative-clearing effect.
