Otherworldly Affairs Office-Chapter 879: Melancholy
After carefully placing the blueprint bestowed by the Demon God, Pei Yan finally lifted his head, looked at the other party, and asked the third question: "Your Excellency, as you mentioned, the Sealed Land is full of Hellish Fierce Beasts hostile to the outside world. Even if that rebel you spoke of has been obliterated by the sands of time, he once wielded a Divine Artifact, which might arouse other beasts' covetous desires to claim it as their own."
"Are you scared now?" The middle-aged Demon God crossed his legs, gazing at Pei Yan with an amused expression.
Pei Yan straightened his posture, shook his head, and continued: "I am not afraid of the impending battle. Such beasts will certainly not hand over the Divine Artifact just because of your orders. I will inevitably have a bloody fight with them! I merely wish to ask if I can fight without reservation, as my combat in the Ghost Realm seemed to displease you before!"
"Hahahahaha!" Pei Yan's response elicited a hearty laugh from the Demon God. After laughing, the Demon God wiped tears of mirth from his eyes and playfully chided Pei Yan, pointing at him, "What a vengeful rascal you are. This time, you don't need to hold back. I've sent you there to hone your combat skills. As you speculated, after years of recuperation, the number of Hell Beasts in the Sealed Land has grown too large. To strengthen the seal and prevent the Blood Evil from succeeding, their numbers must decrease. So don't worry and fight with ease! I don't think you have the power to wipe out all those creatures at once." 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
Upon saying this, the Demon God paused, stroking his chin for a moment before advising, "However, I suggest you refrain from using that transformation ability of yours, instead rely on your own body to fight!"
"Why?" Pei Yan, initially pleased with the first part of the statement, was perplexed by the Demon God's addendum.
"This is merely a suggestion. Your body should harbor multiple abilities, right? But have you truly developed them? Your failure to fully unlock your potential is because you've become overly reliant on your body's phenomenal power!"
The Demon God spoke as he stood up, walking to the wooden cabin's window and drawing the curtains. Gazing at the moonlit scene outside, he continued, "This training aims to develop your inner potential. Before you enter, I will grant you the pure-blood nobility's essence, blessed by my origin, to enhance your physique. This will help you better adapt to my power after you pass the test. Thus, in this battle, I hope you can combat using your Demon Race form in conjunction with your abilities. Do you accept this challenge?"
"I can!" After a brief contemplation, Pei Yan nodded lightly in agreement and asked, "Then when do we begin!"
"Tomorrow. Tomorrow, I will have someone conduct the essence absorption ritual for you. After that, you can enter the Sealed Land!" The Demon God said without turning his head, casually gesturing toward the doorway as an invitation, before staring into a corner of the garden, lost in thought.
The discerning Pei Yan didn't say much more, getting up to bid farewell and then bowing as he exited the wooden cabin. As he walked through the garden, Samikina remained waiting outside. After expressing his gratitude for Samikina's effort, the two walked side by side towards the exit. Pei Yan occasionally glanced back at the cabin, only to see the Demon God standing by the window, still gazing at a corner of the garden, his eyes tinged with a trace of affection and melancholy.
"Sir, do you know about the Broken Hell?" As they moved further away from the cabin, wandering through the deep and winding corridors, Pei Yan couldn't suppress his curiosity any longer and asked the old Samikina beside him.
Upon hearing the words, Old Samikina stumbled forward, nearly falling, before turning his head to look at Pei Yan in surprise, "How do you... how do you know about that thing?"
After saying this, he immediately realized, "Did the Demon God tell you? Are you going to retrieve this Divine Artifact?"
"Ah! Yes, the Demon God has bestowed it upon me!" Seeing an opportunity, Pei Yan quickly moved forward to stand beside Old Samikina and whispered softly.
Old Samikina, hearing this, glanced around to ensure no one was nearby, then, face pale, shook his head as he continued walking, muttering, "It's been so long, I can't remember, I can't remember!"
The more secretive he was, the more curious Pei Yan became. Without daring to ask the Demon God, he dared to pester the old man beside him, hastily taking three steps forward, leaning in close, and, with a smile, trying to curry favor, said, "Sir, since you mention it's ancient, it means you know the origins of this matter. There's no one else around, so why not share it with me?"
"This is the Holy Hall! Not just in the Holy Hall, but in this vast Holy City, no tale of any event is hidden from that lord!" Old Samikina said as he pulled out a handkerchief to wipe the sweat from his forehead, sighing, "I just don't understand why that lord would grant such a dangerous weapon to you. Oh, my dear Prince! I can't be sure whether an alliance with you is a fortune or a curse for the Samikina Clan!"
"Isn't this exaggerating? It's just a weapon that triggered a rebellion, right? Didn't you say it happened long ago, and the person might be dead by now!" Pei Yan was surprised by Old Samikina's strong reaction and retorted.
"Did the Demon God tell you the origin of this item?" Old Samikina's reaction was even more shocked, staring at Pei Yan in disbelief.
"Yes, he said his son rebelled and stole a Divine Artifact originally crafted for him, leading to a rebellion threatening the Demon Race's survival. But I didn't ask why he did it!" Pei Yan explained, slowing his pace to match Samikina's.
"Since the Demon God told you about its origin, he didn't intend to keep it from you." Hearing this calmed Old Samikina, who moved slowly to a bench by the corridor, sitting down without acknowledging Pei Yan beside him. He rummaged through his pocket, pulling out a delicate crystal bottle of liquor, uncorking it, and took a swig.
After a while, the alcohol seemed to take effect, and Old Samikina's paper-white face gradually regained some color. Exhaling a mouthful of boozy air, he muttered, "The person you're curious about is a taboo within the Demon Race."
"Ah! Judging by your reaction, I guessed as much!" Pei Yan kindly patted the old man's back, helping him catch his breath, smiling wryly.
"You don't understand! It's not just a simple rebellion. Within the Demon Race, his name has become taboo. After that rebellion, apart from the accounts recorded in the family chronicles of a few clans that experienced that battle, his name has been erased from any book documenting the Demon Race's history. Such precious chronicles can only be read by clan heirs. You're fortunate; my clan also participated in that battle and left records. But even my brother hasn't seen that information!" Pausing after recounting that historical record, Old Samikina shuddered, involuntarily turning to look at the depths of the Holy Hall, remaining silent for a long time.
