Otherworldly Affairs Office-Chapter 881: Past Events of the Judgment Prison (Part 2)
"You're quite perceptive about social intricacies for someone your age!" Old Samikina turned his head to look at Pei Yan and said with a sigh.
"Sir, it's just like not eating pork but seeing pigs run! Palace intrigue, it's on TV every day! Oh, TV is just like a play or storytelling; as the saying from our ancestors goes, 'A tall tree catches the wind!' His favor exceeded his background, so naturally, he was bound to face jealousy." Faced with Old Samikina's confusion, Pei Yan shrugged indifferently. While the people of this world are indeed more powerful than ordinary people from the base plane, their insight isn't necessarily better. Anyone who completes basic education and works in society usually has their understanding of social mores and can roughly discern the direction of events. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
However, people from other planes prefer to solve problems with force. Even when using deception, apart from the older generation, the younger generation's methods are laughably naive. Just like Sifuer, her little schemes are easily seen through by me. Perhaps it's the cultural differences brought about by the disparity in strength across planes.
"A tall tree catches the wind, huh! Your ancestors were quite good at summarizing experiences!" Although Old Samikina didn't know what pigs and TV were, he understood the meaning in Pei Yan's words. After savoring the latter part, he said, "It's a pity that at the time, the Demon God didn't realize this, or perhaps he did but was too dismissive to manage these matters, resulting in the ensuing tragedy."
At this point, Old Samikina put away the handkerchief, took another sip of wine, and leisurely said, "It was during the time when the Demon God led that child to the Magic Realm for forging the Divine Artifact. Seizing this opportunity, some descendants of the Holy Mother faction, jealous of his deep favor from the Demon God and psychologically unbalanced, murdered his mother."
"They were too bold, weren't they! She was, after all, the woman of the Demon God. Did they really dare to act?" Although Pei Yan had guessed the general direction of the event, he thought the others might at most dare to take action against his rebellious lover, not expecting them to be so ruthless as to murder his mother directly.
"Yes, they were indeed very bold. When the Demon God returned, he was furious and severely punished them, incarcerating them in the Celestial Prison to reflect on their actions," Old Samikina sighed deeply, meaningfully answering Pei Yan's doubts.
"What? Incarceration! For such a grave offense, just incarceration?" Pei Yan was dumbfounded and incredulous.
"You think this is a grave offense?" Old Samikina asked in return.
"Of course! Although we are no longer under a monarchy now, such matters were severe even in ancient times, right?"
Old Samikina shook his head with a wry smile, "I don't know how your ancient times dealt with such matters, but here, this isn't considered a serious matter. The Demon God values his bloodline, but apart from the Holy Mother, he doesn't care much about the life and death of those who bore him children! So in his eyes, it was just an ordinary Demon Race woman's death, and if not for his son's favor, even this punishment wouldn't have occurred, at most just a reprimand to resolve the matter."
"This is distorted! Heartless!" Pei Yan blurted out uncontrollably upon hearing this. He now began to understand the rebel; this Demon God is just an irresponsible scoundrel. If it were him, he would probably choose the path of rebellion too.
"Shut up, Pei Yan! Mind your words!" Old Samikina's face showed discontent and fear as he snapped in a low growl.
Knowing he had misspoken, Pei Yan quickly waved his hand to apologize, pointed at his mouth, and made a silent gesture to indicate he'd keep quiet and not speak further.
Old Samikina, seeing his cooperation, then drank the wine in his bottle to its end, defending his ancestor, "You don't understand! You're still young. If you lived as long as the Demon God, you'd find everyone you know dying one by one, and even the warmest heart would turn to stone over time. Hence, to minimize the pain of parting, very few people tug at his heartstrings. Many women he encountered were merely passersby in his eyes."
Toward the end, Old Samikina seemed to recall his past, cradling the empty wine bottle and falling into deep sorrow and memories. Even though Pei Yan was indeed, as Old Samikina mentioned, still young, he could feel the melancholy atmosphere. Looking at the sorrowful expression on Old Samikina's wrinkled face, Pei Yan couldn't help but ponder that while people often seek immortality, perhaps living forever isn't a joyful thing. Seeing the thousand-year-old monsters around, and imagining his family and friends leaving him in the future, Pei Yan couldn't help but relate, exhaling a long sigh.
A wine bottle was handed to him. Pei Yan accepted the fine wine that Old Samikina somehow produced again, unscrewed the cap, took a sip, and continued listening as Old Samikina told the story.
"The Demon God might not care for a woman's life, but how could that child not care? Before the Demon God valued him, he and his mother depended on each other with deep maternal bond, so how could he not seek such a grave vengeance! Therefore, he tried multiple times afterward to find opportunities to seek revenge on the murderers, and during this, he succeeded in killing one of the perpetrators. Throughout all this, the Demon God turned a blind eye, allowing it until this rebel, relentless in pursuing all the murderers, finally provoked a strong backlash from the Holy Mother faction descendants, leading to an intense conflict between both sides. Only then did the Demon God intervene to mediate, reprimanding both sides, and ordered that person to end the matter, forbidding further vengeance for his mother!"
"A slap on both sides, huh! That's a terrible judgment!"
This time, Old Samikina didn't dispute Pei Yan's disrespectful remarks; instead, he nodded rather in agreement, "You're right, it was indeed a terrible judgment. If all those involved had been properly dealt with, his ire would have been appeased, or had the man's actions and attitudes been closely monitored, the subsequent tragedy wouldn't have happened! But the Demon God surprisingly overlooked it at this point, not paying further attention, and instead, to assuage his guilt towards that rebellious son, placed the new Divine Artifact in his hands, letting him oversee its daily nurturing."
"Ah!" Pei Yan slapped his forehead, wanting to mock the Demon God's pigheadedness, but realizing the inappropriate setting, he instead asked, "Now that the Divine Artifact is in hand, the rebellion is about to begin, right?"
