Our Love Story: Hard to Guard Against the Sudden Love Strike-Chapter 299 - 294: Eighteen This Year
Perhaps at that stage, Zane Forrester, who has no intention of having Sylvia Langley take half of his family property, will figure out a way to stabilize the marriage.
Simon Forrester thought it was feasible, so Sienna Thornton instructed Rochelle Linwood to prepare the agent agreement and send it to Sylvia Langley, who was in The South, for signing and returning.
On Friday, Old Master Forrester suddenly called, saying that Zane Forrester had returned to the United States and that the old house felt oddly quiet, so Simon Forrester should bring Sienna Thornton home for the weekend.
So, on Saturday morning, Simon Forrester and Sienna Thornton packed some simple change of clothes and headed back to the Forrester Family’s old residence.
In the Northern city in June, the sky was a clear blue.
In the courtyard of the quadrangle, the rock garden and pond were crystal clear, surrounded by jujube and persimmon trees, symbolizing "a prompt blessed arrival, everything goes smoothly."
The summer breeze blew from the outer courtyard into the inner one, bringing a slight chill.
Sienna Thornton wore a white crew-neck sleeveless blouse and a royal blue waist-hugging silk long skirt, looking elegant and full of grace.
She carried the fruits for Old Master Forrester, while Simon Forrester held their luggage bags as they walked toward the inner courtyard.
Old Master Forrester was watching TV in the living room. Upon seeing them from afar, he rushed out enthusiastically to greet them: "Oh, Thornton is here! Please come in, come in!"
As he spoke, he brought Sienna along, without even glancing at Simon Forrester.
Following behind, Simon Forrester asked discontentedly: "Hey, Grandpa, why didn’t you greet me? Do you not recognize me anymore or what?"
Old Master Forrester turned his head to glare at him: "Did you greet me?" He said angrily, but then turned to Sienna, smiling kindly and amiably.
Simon Forrester continued to protest from behind: "At my age, not greeting you generally means saving the trouble. But at your age, not greeting me would make me worry you’re not feeling well again..."
Implying that an old man who doesn’t greet his grandson might be losing his mind.
Old Master Forrester caught his meaning, and as he was taking two steps up the stairs, he turned around angrily and gave his shoulder two hard pats.
Simon Forrester, standing two steps below, dared not speak any more complaints after being hit. He rubbed his aching shoulder, unwillingly following them.
Old Master Forrester turned back to Sienna Thornton, smiled again, lightly patted her hand, and said helplessly: "Living with a grandson like mine must be difficult for you?"
Sienna Thornton almost replied, "Yes, his mouth is especially bad, always making me mad," but upon second thought, she realized the elder was not really criticizing his grandson.
Clearly, he was just too shy to praise him directly and was borrowing her words to do so.
Thinking of this, Sienna Thornton swallowed the words from the tip of her tongue and instead said, "No, he’s great. I’m very happy and fortunate with him!"
Upon hearing this, the grandfather and grandson smiled broadly.
It was Sienna Thornton herself who felt a bit embarrassed.
.
Simon Forrester accompanied Old Master Forrester in playing chess, while Sienna Thornton watched television nearby.
At noon, a servant announced that lunch was ready, so they moved to the dining room.
The long dining table for entertaining guests was filled with more than a dozen dishes.
In the center was a charcoal fire copper pot, with boiling water inside, and beside it was a plate of paper-thin sliced lamb and two or three dishes of sauces.
At each person’s place setting, there was a gold-plated silver bowl. Under the bowl was a small matching tray of the same material, with a cover of the same metal that hid its contents.
On the table were also braised pork knuckle, crispy fried fish slices, oil-braised prawns, and several seasonal vegetables.
Seeing the table full of festive Old Northgate dishes, Sienna Thornton wondered, "Are there other guests?"
Old Master Forrester laughed heartily: "Nope! Just the three of us eating together!"
Sienna Thornton helped Old Master Forrester to the head seat and sat down next to Simon Forrester with a smile: "It feels like a holiday, thank you, Grandpa, for the hospitality."
Old Master Forrester also smiled: "With my Forrester family grand-daughter-in-law coming home for a stay, what else would you call it if not a holiday?"
The remark made both Sienna Thornton and Simon Forrester laugh.
Old Master Forrester invited them to start eating. Sienna Thornton removed the golden cover beside her and saw that it was braised shark fin.
The soup had a golden, thick texture, with the shark fin in silky strips, and as the lid was lifted, the rich aroma of the broth wafted through the air.
Sienna Thornton picked up the golden spoon and tried a sip. The broth was rich, fresh, and smooth, melting right into her heart.
"This soup is delicious!" Sienna Thornton whispered to Simon Forrester.
