Our Love Story: Hard to Guard Against the Sudden Love Strike-Chapter 333 - 320: Sugar Plan
He tried to take a soft approach, but Sienna Thornton wasnโt keen on listening, and gestured for Simon Forrester to hang up the phone. ๐๐ง๐๐ฎ๐ฌ๐๐ซ๐๐ธ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐.๐ฌ๐ค๐ถ
After hanging up, Simon sat next to her. Before he could speak, she suddenly threw herself into his arms, a mix of anger and grievance in her voice: "Why does Partner Reed have to do this? Itโs one thing for others not to understand the significance of this case to me, but why does he?"
Simon hugged her, comforting softly, "Itโs not that he doesnโt understand, he just chose to save himself the trouble by letting you feel aggrieved."
"What a jerk!" Sienna cried out in mock sobs, reaching her limit.
Simon held her, kissed her temple, and laughed helplessly: "Thatโs why Iโve always told you, apart from me, every other man in the world is a jerk!"
Sienna buried her face in his chest, tugged at his shirt corners, and pretended to cry for a while, mumbling, "If Partner Reed calls about this again, just tell him the case is fully handed over to Rhonda. Iโm not managing it anymore, nor getting involved. Tell him to stop bothering us!"
Simon was more than happy to oblige: "Alright."
After cuddling with Sienna for a bit, he released her: "Get your work done first, and weโll rest early when youโre done."
-
When they first started dating, Sienna and Simon planned for a month-long trip to Europe, originally intending to spend half a month in The Northlands and the other half in Westeria.
However, since Sylvia Langley suggested recently preparing a wedding dress and jewelry for Sienna in Franland, they changed their plans. Now, their first stop would be Franland, staying there for a week, then heading to Britione to revisit Simonโs old stomping grounds.
"After a week in Britione, we can head to The Northlands to see the aurora! One week in Norway and Nordvik! The last week of the vacation, weโll buy watches in Alpenberg! Get your suits and shoes in Italora! But I must see the water city of Adria!"
At Capital Airport, eight in the morning, Sienna and Simon waited in the departure lounge to board their flight to Paris, Franland.
Wearing a down jacket, a knitted hat, and snow boots, Sienna held her handwritten itinerary, excitedly going over their month-long plans with Simon.
Simon, half-amused, half-exasperated, rubbed the white knitted hat on her head: "You already said this last night! Iโm not some forgetful old man, why do you keep repeating it to me?"
"One more time to deepen the impression!" Sienna grinned foolishly, holding the itinerary, then turned to search for pictures of the hotels Simon had booked.
After searching for a while, she asked, "Thereโs no hotel for Lumeria, does that mean weโre staying at your momโs place?"
"Yeah, she has a villa there. Weโll check it out first, and if itโs uncomfortable, we can book a hotel at the last minute."
Though Sienna had no current issues with Sylvia, Sylvia had a habit of lecturing and meddling in their private lives, even criticizing their eating habits, which was quite annoying.
Sienna wasnโt too happy about it.
Noticing her previous chatter stop abruptly, Simon turned his head to see: "You donโt like staying at my momโs place?"
"I can tolerate it for a day or two, but donโt make me live with her for a whole week, or Iโll go crazy."
Simon laughed, pinching her chubby little face: "Havenโt even married yet and youโre already not getting along with your mother-in-law?"
"Do you get along with her?"
Simon laughed loudly without saying anything. This made Sienna a bit restless, as if she could foresee herself going crazy spending a week in Paris with Sylvia.
Just as she was feeling down, Simon, who had been sitting next to her, suddenly leaned over and kissed her cheek: "Alright, since you donโt like staying with my mom, weโll head to The South of France once our business is done."
He made it sound as if he was accommodating her.
She pouted and looked over: "Whatโs in The South of France?"
"Selecting wine for the wedding banquet."
She pushed him: "You planned to go to The South of France from the start, didnโt you? Why didnโt you say earlier? You even accused me of not getting along with your mom!"
"Just remembered."
Seeing that Simon was being cheeky again, Sienna hit his arm angrily: "Youโre fully healed now, feeling all mighty and being cheeky, arenโt you?"
She said this, turned around in anger, and faced away from him: "Donโt talk to me!"
Simon was just about to tease her again when the boarding gate announced it was time for passengers heading to Lumeria International Airport to board.
He stuffed his magazine into his backpack, just as he was about to reconcile with Sienna, but saw that she was already excitedly shouldering her backpack, calling out to him: "Letโs go!"
He shook his head, half amused and half exasperated. Her sulkiness never lasted long.
.
The direct flight from Brimfield to Paris took eleven hours. Although Simonโs back injury had healed, sitting for long periods sometimes felt uncomfortable, so they booked first-class tickets.
Their seats were next to each other. In the small cabin, there were two seats that could turn into sofa beds about one meter wide, with a dim table lamp on the divider in the middle. The seats near the aisle had beige curtains that could be drawn.
Sienna placed her backpack on the divider, surveyed her surroundings with her eyes before sitting down.
"Is this a Hawthorne Family plane?" she asked.
Simon, adjusting his seat, looked up: "How did you know?"
Sienna pointed to the screen in front of the seat with her chin: "Stellair Airlines, isnโt it?"
Simon finished adjusting and sat down: "It is, and maybe Mrs. Hawthorne is piloting today."
"Jack Hawthorneโs wife is a pilot?" Sienna said, idly flipping through the promotional brochure by her seat. After flipping a few pages, she nudged Simonโs arm and held up the brochure for him to see, "Is this Mrs. Hawthorne? Captain Tang?"
Simon didnโt look, replying casually: "If itโs the lead female pilot with the same last name as you, then yes, itโs her."
"Wow." Siennaโs gossiping spirit was ignited, grasping Simonโs arm, she said, "His wife looks so cool! Short hair, very slim, looks quite dashing! They seem mismatched! I thought his wife would be a glamorous, actress-like heiress. Never expected her to be a pilot..."
Simon looked over but his gaze lingered not on the brochure she held, but on her face which looked even more babyish due to the knitted hat. He smiled: "Probably lots of people would say, โCan you believe Simon Forresterโs wife is a lawyer?"
Siennaโs bright black eyes twinkled, "True, we seem mismatched too." After speaking, she stuck out her cute little tongue, sighing, "All love in the world canโt escape the โfragrance lawโ!"
"Whatโs the โfragrance lawโ?"
"Itโs... hmm..." Sienna propped her chin, pondering a moment, "Let me give an example. When we first met, you were so cold to me, right? Like you were afraid Iโd cling to you. But later, you fell for me first. That kind of feeling is called โfragrantโ."
Simon: "..."
Whether he didnโt understand or understood but had nothing to say, he remained silent for a while. After some time, he said self-mockingly, "You said you had a daughter. To me, it seemed you were afraid Iโd cling to you first, right?"
Sienna smiled sheepishly, avoided his gaze, lowering her head to fiddle with her fingers: "Not exactly... just... wasnโt thinking of sparking with you back then..."
"Fine, guess I was too sentimental." He chuckled coldly, suddenly reaching over to pinch Siennaโs chubby cheek, bringing his face close, his bright amber eyes stared at her for a while, smiling mischievously, "Let me tell you, ours isnโt โfragrantโ or โstinkyโ, itโs the โSugar Planโ!"
Sienna batted away his hand, rubbed her cheek, and said disdainfully: "What Sugar Plan? I have no idea what youโre talking about!"
He raised his eyebrows slightly in a smile, withdrawing his hand, and sat back in his seat: "Iโll tell you tonight."
