Our Love Story: Hard to Guard Against the Sudden Love Strike-Chapter 355 - 336: Returning to the Country
"Who’s it for?"
Hearing him say he planned to give away something worth millions, Sienna Thornton’s tone was particularly serious.
Simon Forrester didn’t answer immediately; he beckoned her over with a gesture.
So she walked over and sat on the armrest of the chair.
Simon Forrester held her hand: "While I was sorting gifts today, I suddenly realized I hadn’t prepared a gift for Dean Thorne, so I plan to give him a watch."
"Dean Thorne?" Sienna Thornton was taken aback, "Why would you give Dean Thorne something so expensive?"
Simon Forrester looked at her and deliberated, "It’s nothing, really. He’s an elder, after all, and we want to ask him to take good care of you in the future, so it’s only right to give a gift."
He wasn’t lying. A future father-in-law is indeed an elder, and he truly hoped Quentin Thorne would take good care of Sienna Thornton in the future.
Sienna Thornton thought for a while and said seriously, "It’s best not to give such expensive gifts to public officials, as it can cause trouble for them."
Simon Forrester didn’t persist upon hearing this.
.
On the second day after New Year’s, Sienna Thornton again visited Melinda Linton, and Simon Forrester quickly made time to meet with Quentin Thorne.
Quentin Thorne invited him directly to his home, so he went.
The Thorne Family lived in a row of old villas on the city outskirts, in an undesirable location with average facilities, not expensive, just fitting for a public official like Quentin Thorne.
After getting out of the car, Simon Forrester walked up to ring the doorbell, and Quentin Thorne personally came out to open the door. Upon seeing him, he wore his signature smile.
Simon Forrester followed him inside and casually asked, "Isn’t Aunt Grant home?"
"Mina and her mother went out to meet friends."
Simon Forrester chuckled, "No wonder you’re so bold, daring to invite me to your home."
This made Quentin Thorne show a trace of embarrassment. After sitting down, he said, "In a few days, Annie and I will be reunited. You should come by often to play."
He said "you," not "you both."
This puzzled Simon Forrester, prompting him to ask, "What do you mean?"
Quentin Thorne, while boiling water for tea, said, "If Annie agrees, I hope she can live with me before marriage. Living together before marriage could tarnish Annie’s reputation."
Simon Forrester: "..."
After a moment of speechlessness, he asked, "Aren’t you afraid Aunt Grant will give her a hard time?"
"I’ll talk to Ian Grant."
Simon Forrester said no more because he knew Sienna Thornton wouldn’t move here.
After a brief silence, he picked up the small paper bag he had beside him and placed it on the table in front of Quentin Thorne.
Quentin Thorne didn’t open it immediately, asking, "What’s this?"
"Candy and I just returned from Europe, and we’ve brought you a bottle of homemade cologne she created for men. Hope you like it."
The cologne was originally made by Sienna Thornton for Simon Forrester. There were two scents, and she made several bottles, as he couldn’t think of a gift for Quentin Thorne, so he decided to give a bottle of cologne.
Hearing that it was his daughter’s handmade cologne brought such joy to Quentin Thorne that he forgot to pour hot water over the tea, letting the kettle steam on the side.
With slightly trembling hands, he picked up the dark gray paper bag. Inside was a velvet perfume box in the same color tone, holding a rectangular bottle with a deep gray aluminum cap lying quietly inside.
Carefully, he picked it up, opened the cap, and asked, "Is this the cologne that Annie made personally?"
"Yes."
"Does she know this cologne is for me?"
Simon Forrester paused for a few seconds, nodded, then asked in return, "Do you like this scent?"
"Yes, yes," Quentin Thorne’s voice even changed, "since Annie made it herself, how could I not like it..." After speaking, he lovingly admired the rather unremarkable bottle of cologne in his hand.
The kettle hissed continuously next to him, but he paid it no mind, didn’t brew the tea, kept turning the cologne over in his hands, and finally took out his phone to take pictures, for reasons unknown.
Simon Forrester had no choice but to pick up the kettle and brew the tea leaves.
After a while, seeing Quentin Thorne finished messing with the bottle of cologne, Simon Forrester poured him a cup of tea and asked, "Will you use the cologne?"
Quentin Thorne shook his head.
Simon Forrester understood but deliberately asked, "Afraid Aunt Grant will make a fuss?"
Quentin Thorne smiled helplessly, "This is the first gift Annie has given me, and I want to treasure it."
Simon Forrester: "I understand. It’s fine to use a little. I have plenty, and I can always bring you more."
Quentin Thorne: "..."
So how could such a willful son-in-law be endearing?
