Chapter 439: Chapter 418: Useless Teammate

The two of them laughed as they walked down from the fourth floor to the third floor, first bumping into Aiden Chaucer and Harrison Rowe, and then a group of designers heading to work at nine o’clock on the second floor.

Everyone was surprised to see Simon Forrester, who hadn’t been around much since the New Year, and greeted him warmly.

A few of the designers who had met Sienna Thornton in Norport three years ago still remembered the flirty and sweet vibe between her and Simon at that time and cheekily asked when they were getting married.

Simon Forrester said, "The wedding will be after the New Year, and we’ll invite everyone to join."

It wasn’t until they got into the car that Sienna Thornton asked, "You seem to have a lot of guests. Is there a hotel big enough to host the banquet?"

Simon Forrester replied, "Mainly just people from the design institute and then people from a few other construction companies I’ve invested in. That alone adds up quite a number."

The car drove out of the design institute’s gate, merging into the morning rush hour traffic on Regent Street.

While focusing on driving, Simon Forrester chatted with Sienna Thornton, "I’ll have Harrison compile that list, but I’ll need to make my own list of classmates and friends later."

Sienna Thornton asked, "Are you inviting people from the Forrester Group?"

"Anyone manager-level and above will be invited."

Sienna Thornton nodded, "And your grandparents’ and parents’ friends and relatives, plus your grandma and mom’s family side, it feels like even a hundred tables won’t be enough."

As they discussed this, the traffic light turned red. Simon Forrester stepped on the brake, took a deep breath, watched the traffic outside the windshield, and held Sienna Thornton’s hand with his free hand.

With a sigh, he laughed lightly, "It probably won’t be enough. I’m also worried about where to find a venue big enough for the wedding banquet."

He turned to look at Sienna Thornton: "What about the Thornton side? Have you decided which hotel to hold the return banquet at?"

Sienna Thornton shook her head, "He hasn’t told me, maybe he’s got something in mind."

"Are there many relatives in the Thorne Family?"

"There seem to be quite a few, especially many clan relatives back home."

The light turned green, and the car continued on its way.

While driving, Simon Forrester said, "You both work in public service, so about twenty tables should do it. Anything beyond that and the relevant departments might want to have a talk with Thornton."

"I’m not really sure about that," Sienna Thornton chuckled, "then Thornton has nothing to worry about, just twenty tables, any hotel restaurant can manage that."

They chatted a bit more, and at the next traffic light, they turned a corner, arriving at Sienna Thornton’s workplace.

She got out, waved to Simon Forrester, and went into the ministry gates.

.

Meanwhile, Logan Lockwood arrived just in time for work, and upon reaching upstairs, he bumped into Harrison Rowe coming out of Aiden Chaucer’s office. He asked, "Did Fletcher come over this morning? I think I saw his car on Concordia Avenue."

Having partied until the wee hours, he woke up late, didn’t shave or wash his face, and rushed to work, noticing Simon Forrester’s car in a sleepy daze and thinking he might be there to talk to him, so he quickly asked.

Harrison Rowe nonchalantly replied with a "Hi": "Nope, his wife has been working overtime recently, so they decided to just move into the dormitory upstairs. If you saw his car this morning, he was probably sending Lawyer Thornton to work."

Shortly after the New Year, Simon Forrester went to work at the Forrester Group and only rarely saw Logan Lockwood. Additionally, men typically don’t talk about each other’s partners, so Logan wasn’t aware that Sienna Thornton had moved to the Treaty and Law Department.

He asked Harrison Rowe, "Where is his wife working now? Wasn’t she resting at home after that incident?"

Harrison Rowe said, "Lawyer Thornton is now at the Treaty and Law Department. I heard she became a director as soon as she joined and seems to be quite busy."

Logan Lockwood thought he misheard: "Lawyer Thornton? The director at the Treaty and Law Department?"

Harrison Rowe nodded, mysteriously pulling Logan Lockwood aside: "I have an even more shocking piece of news for you. Before I say it, brace yourself."

Logan Lockwood is good-natured and approachable, a complete contrast to Simon Forrester’s stern and terse demeanor with subordinates, making Harrison Rowe more inclined to be closer with him.

At the prospect of some gossip, his eyes, clouded by hangover, lit up, and he quickly pulled Harrison Rowe into his office.

Sitting on the couch, they huddled up close together.

Harrison Rowe said, "Half a year ago, on Lawyer Thornton’s birthday, Director Forrester changed the ownership of the No. 3 Fenmore Hill property to her name. I was the one who handled the paperwork. And guess what—"

Logan Lockwood shook his head: "I don’t know." Then, realizing, he exclaimed, "What? No. 3 Fenmore Hill? Gave it as a gift?"

Harrison Rowe nodded.

Logan Lockwood exclaimed, "Whoa! No. 3 Fenmore Hill is expensive! Why be so extravagant? A woman’s birthday, and you give her a multi-billion villa instead of a diamond ring?! It’s insane!"

"That’s not the main point."

"Then what is?"

Harrison Rowe leaned in closer and whispered in Logan Lockwood’s ear, "The point is, Lawyer Thornton has changed her surname!"

Logan Lockwood: "Took on her husband’s surname?"

Harrison Rowe shook his index finger: "Lawyer Thornton is no longer ’Thornton’, but ’Thorne’."

"Thorne?" Logan Lockwood was slightly surprised, "The surname ’Thorne’ is quite rare, why would Lawyer Thornton change her surname like that?"

Just as they were about to ponder why Sienna Thornton suddenly changed her surname, the office door suddenly knocked three times hurriedly and then quickly swung open from the outside.

Simon Forrester walked in, observing Harrison Rowe and Logan Lockwood practically glued to each other in surprise. He took a step back and pointed at the door: "Should I give you some privacy first?"

Logan Lockwood: "..."

Harrison Rowe: "..."

They snapped back to their senses.

Logan Lockwood, unshaven, sat with legs spread wide, arms stretched out on the back of the couch. Harrison Rowe, beside him, leaned to the side, whispering something into his ear. They were sitting quite close.

The scene resembled something out of a yaoi manga with the submissive nestled in the dominant’s arms acting coyly.

At Simon Forrester’s question, Harrison Rowe jumped up, straightened himself: "Boss, you’re here?"

Logan Lockwood also straightened up, coughed lightly, patted where Harrison Rowe had sat, and invited Simon Forrester: "Come on, Fletcher, sit here." 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

With a blatantly disdainful expression, Simon Forrester moved to the desk, pulling over a swivel chair to sit.

Sitting down, his long legs encased in high-quality suit trousers crossed, hands casually resting on the armrests, fingers interlocked, he said coolly, "Lawyer Thornton and I will be staying on the fourth floor for the next month. Don’t come up unless necessary."

Logan Lockwood yawned, muttering, "I have a room on the fourth floor too. Sometimes when my old man kicks me out, I have no choice but to stay on the fourth floor."

Simon Forrester frowned at him: "Get a hotel! You can file the room expenses with finance."

"I’m not lacking the money for a room," Logan Lockwood said, scratching his ear, a defiant expression on his face, "Anyway, you two just be mindful up there, because I might drop by in the middle of the night if needed."

Simon Forrester: "..."
