Out of Control: Into Your Everything-Chapter 16: Particularly Bad Temper?
Scarlett Shaw hurriedly lowered her head and rushed towards the street corner.
But, out of the corner of her eye, she couldn’t help but notice Julian Ford. She saw him pull out a tissue to wipe the lipstick off his face.
Scarlett’s dark eyes flickered slightly as she turned and walked away.
Julian looked at Lynn Walsh with an indifferent expression, his face calm and unruffled.
Lynn was both nervous and unwilling.
It’s said that to bring a man and woman closer, physical contact is the best way. She had good looks, and while her family background wasn’t as prominent as the Ford family in Capitoline, it was still a well-known family. As long as she wanted it, there was nothing she couldn’t get.
Yet, despite being so proactive, Julian not only showed no physical reaction, even his eyes didn’t waver in the slightest.
Julian Ford: "I’ll have Aaron Carson take you home."
The clear-cut attitude was very evident.
Aaron Carson arrived at the restaurant shortly, driving an Audi A8 ten minutes later.
Julian Ford saw Lynn onto the car and returned to his Bentley. After sitting in the driver’s seat, he caught a glimpse of the coat pocket in the back seat through the rear-view mirror and casually grabbed it.
With long fingers, he pushed aside the suit jacket and took out a deep blue box, opened it, and looked inside.
...
The temperature dropped abruptly, and it rained for several days in a row.
On the weekend, Scarlett found a part-time job tutoring. She had majored in mathematics at Capitoline University, with a minor in finance, achieving excellent grades, and had won many scholarships. With the connection of Yana Yarrow, many well-off parents sought her out.
In the evening, as the tutoring session was about to end, the rain started pouring heavily.
Scarlett opened her umbrella, hailed a cab, and as she got in, she heard a rumbling thunder.
Her eyelids trembled slightly.
Yana sent a message asking how her part-time job was going. Scarlett replied that it was going well and added: "I’ll treat you to dinner when you’re free."
Yana: "I’m free today!"
Scarlett glanced at the weather outside the car window; it was still raining, but the thunder had subsided a bit. She replied: "Sure, where are you? I’ll come find you."
Yana sent over her location.
Scarlett informed the driver to change the route and headed to the bar.
Yana had already drunk half a glass and, slightly tipsy, pulled her down to sit, "Have you noticed your boss has been in a particularly bad mood lately?"
Her boss, wasn’t that Julian Ford?
Scarlett: "No."
With her position, she hardly had the opportunity to interact with Julian Ford frequently.
During this time, she hadn’t even seen him at the company.
Yana: "Julian Ford’s first love, Zoe Sutton, got engaged abroad. Everyone knows Zoe dumped Julian, and now, just a few months later, she’s engaged to another man. It’s quite disrespectful to Julian, isn’t it?"
Scarlett took a sip of her drink, "Matters of the heart are indeed uncertain. What if she really found true love?"
"It’s not impossible," Yana said, "but her ex-boyfriend is Julian Ford, a man at the top of the pyramid. Can she just forget about him so easily?"
Scarlett didn’t respond immediately.
She and Julian Ford had no emotional intimacy, but those few physical encounters were unforgettable.
At least her intuition told her that Julian Ford, in intimate relationships, wasn’t as perfect as he appeared.
He’s best known for giving a slap and then offering a sweet treat in return.
Isn’t this just like PUA?
"Julian Ford is quite perfect, but Zoe Sutton is also a lady from a prominent family, wanting for nothing when it comes to money or love. Maybe Julian’s character was just unbearable for her, and dumping him was a farewell to a cage, which is actually a good thing."
Normally, Scarlett would never dare to gossip about Julian Ford like this. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
But today, she’d had a bit to drink and felt a little daring.
Besides, chatting with Yana—aren’t besties just for gossiping together?
Otherwise, with all the stress in life, where else can one vent their negative emotions?
Yana: "You sound like you know Julian Ford quite well."
"He’s Ryan’s brother, after all, and siblings usually have some similarities in their characters."
Though she said this, aside from being a little off-kilter and having a certain facial resemblance, Julian and Ryan’s personalities were actually quite the opposite.
However, Scarlett didn’t dare to speak the truth.
As for the two encounters with Julian, she’d take them to her grave.
A few more drinks, and Yana was slumped like a lifeless heap, much to Scarlett’s helplessness—the epitome of someone who can’t handle their liquor but drinks a lot.
Yana had driven there, and just as Scarlett called for a designated driver, she looked up and noticed Julian Ford sitting at the nearby bar counter. He set his glass down on the table and walked towards her.
Scarlett felt a chill down her back, "President Ford."
Julian Ford’s dark eyes were calm and deep, revealing no emotion.
"Am I particularly difficult?"
"..."
"A cage?"
"..."
What could be more mortifying than being caught gossiping about your own boss?
Scarlett was on the verge of tears, feeling as if the world had ended.
It wasn’t just social death; she felt her job was about to slip away, and she’d soon be left starving.
Scarlett: "President Ford, I’m sorry. I was being disrespectful and judgmental. Please don’t take it to heart."
Julian Ford lifted his lips slightly, his expression inscrutable.
Scarlett felt suffocated.
She wanted to escape, but Yana was so drunk that she couldn’t just leave her there.
Fortunately, the call from the designated driver came through. Scarlett hurriedly asked the driver to help carry Yana to the car, and throughout the entire process, Julian Ford didn’t say a word. His gaze, however, lingered ambiguously on her.
Scarlett felt prickles on her back.
She thought about getting into Yana’s car, but her intuition told her that if she fled now, things would be worse later.
What goes around comes around.
Designated Driver: "The rain is too heavy, better get in the car fast!"
Scarlett gritted her teeth and mustered the courage to get into the car. Through the window, she saw Julian Ford standing on the steps, hands in pockets.
The car gradually moved away.
Until Julian Ford was out of sight, Scarlett relaxed. After dropping Yana home, she hailed another cab to return to her place.
The rain was pouring, with a faint hint of thunder, and Scarlett ran back to her building with her umbrella, closing it as she entered the elevator hall, only to find Julian Ford leaning by the window, looking indifferently at her.
Scarlett: "..."
Can someone please explain why the big boss isn’t home asleep at this late hour, but showing up downstairs at her old worn-out apartment!
"President Ford, good evening." Scarlett forced a smile, showing utmost respect.
Julian Ford walked towards her calmly.
Scarlett noticed the strong scent of alcohol on him.
Very potent and heavy, he definitely hadn’t drunk lightly.
Scarlett was momentarily stunned and cautiously asked, "Did you perhaps have too much to drink?"
The elevator arrived at the first floor at this moment, and Julian Ford took a long stride inside. Seeing Scarlett standing still, he lifted his gaze to her.
"Get in."
Scarlett stepped into the elevator and pressed the button for her floor.
The elevator only had her and Julian Ford, making the air feel thin. The scent of alcohol from Julian Ford was even stronger. Scarlett subtly glanced over; the man’s face was as calm as still water, betraying no signs of inebriation,
As the elevator doors opened, Scarlett walked to her apartment door, with Julian Ford silently following behind.
Scarlett rummaged for her keys, hesitated for a moment, and recklessly said, "President Ford, thank you for walking me home, but it’s late. You should probably head back."
Julian Ford stood firm.
Scarlett concluded that he must have indeed been drinking.
Resigned, she unlocked and turned on the lights. Julian Ford, who followed her in, shut the door and casually glanced around, "You live in a place like this."
Scarlett sneered inwardly. If he insisted on coming in, he shouldn’t be dissatisfied with her living conditions.
Such a typical Julian Ford move.
Scarlett contemplated speaking her mind.
But fearing Julian would hold a grudge once sober, she held back, making her way into the kitchen to prepare a bowl of sobering soup, which she then handed to Julian.
"President Ford, here’s some sobering soup. Have a little."
Quickly drink it, become clear-headed, and leave.
She didn’t want to spend her weekend night serving her boss.
Julian Ford didn’t even glance at the sobering soup.
He sat on the cloth sofa, his high-end shirt and trousers clashing with the cheap material of the sofa, legs slightly apart, face indifferent, with a hint of laziness.
Julian was dressed rather casually today, no tie, the buttons around his collar undone, revealing glimpses of his chest.
"Come here," he said in a calm voice.
Scarlett moved slowly, reluctantly.
Just as she reached Julian, his hand suddenly held her waist and pulled her down.
