Out of Control: Into Your Everything-Chapter 210: She Was Supposed to Still Be Here
Ezra Ford was really infuriated, but for his son, he held back his temper and begrudgingly accepted the outcome.
Of course, it turns out that even though the relationship between Ezra Ford and Julian Ford was terrible, how could a father not understand his own son? As expected, three days later when he went to see Julian again, the latter was still nowhere to be seen.
Ezra Ford couldn’t take it anymore and burst into the room without a word.
Julian Ford was holding up an IV with his left hand, a plain ring on his ring finger, as he walked out of the bathroom alone.
When he noticed the intrusion, his cold, deep face remained unchanged, walking slowly toward the inner room. Ezra Ford felt a pang in his eyes and stepped forward to take the IV.
In an angry voice, he said, "Didn’t you hire a caregiver? You paid so much money, and this is how things are done?"
"I dismissed them."
Julian Ford didn’t immediately return to bed; having been lying down for three days, his muscles felt a bit stiff, and moving around actually felt more comfortable.
Ezra Ford, upon hearing this, got angry again, "You won’t see anyone now, you’ve dismissed the caregiver, who will take care of you? You still want..."
To wait for that woman who abandoned you at such a time to take care of you?
Ezra Ford swallowed these words back, but even if left unsaid, his expression was enough for Julian Ford to read the unspoken words.
"My life is my own, with or without anyone, I can take care of myself and will cooperate with the treatment."
Julian Ford glanced at him calmly.
"Moreover, from childhood to now, when have you ever been around when I was sick? Last year I had a fever, and the only person by my side was Scarlett Shaw. She should have stayed, but you drove her away, didn’t you?"
Ezra Ford was momentarily stunned.
Julian’s response was completely unexpected. He thought the topic would erupt into a fierce argument, yet Julian spoke it so calmly.
In disbelief, he looked at his son.
For a moment, he felt that the person standing before him was immensely distant and unfamiliar.
He did want Scarlett Shaw to leave Julian Ford.
But he didn’t expect that woman to suddenly disappear at that time.
When he heard Ryan Ford angrily relay the news, Ezra Ford had to admit that besides being surprised, a slight panic ran through his heart.
Not because he feared a cold reception from Julian Ford, after all, his son hadn’t been friendly since he started dating, but because he genuinely worried that Julian Ford would be negative about his treatment.
"But me cooperating with treatment and not seeing you are not mutually exclusive."
Julian Ford’s slow words pulled Ezra Ford back from his silence.
"When I warned you multiple times and you still couldn’t listen, insisting on finding Scarlett Shaw, you should have expected the current situation."
Ezra Ford’s face darkened.
He opened his lips but ultimately said nothing further.
Instead, Julian Ford glanced over his eyelids, calling out lightly, "Uncle."
Ethan Ford showed an apologetic expression, "The door wasn’t closed, I was worried something would happen, so I just came in."
The awkward expression on his face made it clear he had heard the entire father-son conversation.
Ezra Ford was really annoyed by this brother of his, indescribably irritated, wanting to chase him away, but Julian Ford’s indifferent demeanor seemed unconcerned.
Finally seeing his nephew, Ethan Ford naturally wanted to show concern and engaged in some warm talking for a while, but couldn’t help recalling the earlier conversation between Ezra and Julian, sighing:
"I didn’t expect it, Shaw was always so obedient and understanding, even if the subsequent treatment was difficult to endure, she wouldn’t just run away like that." He instinctively thought this was the reason.
"It’s originally unrelated to you, no need to overthink it."
Julian Ford said indifferently.
Ethan Ford smiled warmly, "Indeed, as long as you take good care of yourself, getting healthy is more important than anything."
"I’m tired, I need to rest."
Julian Ford started to issue a polite eviction notice.
Ezra Ford now felt powerless against his son, so he just obeyed, and as he and Ethan were about to leave, they saw Freya Pierce standing outside, about to come in.
The woman with expertly applied makeup looked radiant and graceful, her emotions appeared stable.
Ezra Ford thought of the scar on his son’s hand, frowning, coldly saying, "Why are you here?"
"I am Julian’s mother, it’s only natural to come see him when he’s ill." Freya paused, "Besides, I haven’t seen Julian for so long, I miss him very much."
"You’re here to upset him."
Ezra’s face was icy, his eyes like frozen snow.
Freya clutched her bag tightly, "At least I wasn’t like you, sneaking around to find his girlfriend behind his back."
Ezra Ford furrowed his brows; it was his idea to find Scarlett Shaw, but he hadn’t mentioned a word of it to Freya.
Did she overhear Ryan Ford making a scene at home that day?
Regardless, Ezra Ford now only wanted his son to be undisturbed, taking two steps forward to pull the stubborn Freya outside.
Ethan, unaware of their family’s internal conflicts, spoke up for Freya, "Brother, sister-in-law just came to see Julian; how could that be causing trouble? What mother wouldn’t want the best for her own son?"
Ezra Ford replied, "What do you know?"
Ethan Ford: "..."
Being so directly and rudely scolded, even Ethan, with his good temper, felt a bit displeased, even going so far as to grab Ezra’s wrist, "Brother, aren’t you being a bit excessive?"
Ethan, though he seemed mild-mannered, had a surprisingly strong grip, causing Ezra’s wrist to ache, loosening his grip slightly, allowing Freya to seize the moment to escape and push the door into the ward.
Ezra’s expression changed drastically, sharply shaking off Ethan, he yelled:
"Are you out of your mind!" 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
He turned on his heels and followed quickly inside.
Freya hurriedly walked through the door into the inner room in her heels. Despite not being in the best of health, even those few steps left her slightly out of breath.
Julian Ford had just hung up the IV, standing by the bed, listening to the commotion without expression.
"Julian."
She walked over step by step, gently taking out a recording pen from her bag:
"Everything your father said to Scarlett Shaw is recorded here, and I will play it for you now."
Her tone was soft and harmonious yet carried an undeniable assertiveness, without even asking Julian if he wanted to hear it.
As Ezra Ford followed inside, his voice was already playing from the recording pen:
"Miss Shaw, you probably know why I’m looking for you. I won’t make things difficult for you, but I have only one request, and that is, once Julian’s illness is cured, you will leave Julian. I will give you a sum of money that you could never spend in a lifetime, enough to compensate for your father’s bankruptcy, and as a reward for accompanying Julian, and this money will secure a carefree life for you."
