Chapter 386: Chapter 179: Fallen Immortal Land

A middle-aged scholar dressed in Confucian robes is trekking through the depths of the Eternal Night Snow Mountain.

A young woman follows a few steps behind him.

Unlike other tourists who come here and try to dress as warmly as possible, they are both in their usual attire.

"Mr. He, do we really need to come here in person?" the young woman asks, panting.

He Youyi climbs a nearly vertical peak, standing on a spot that can only accommodate one person, looking into the distance. An enormous pit with no visible end comes into view, and above it, peaks densely cluster together, each floating. Any one of these could be a peak elsewhere on the Snow Mountain, but here they are crammed together like ants.

This scene truly induces a physical sense of unease, and even He Youyi cannot help but frown.

He turns to look at the young woman behind him, slightly discontented, "Are all the literati from Wenxin Heaven like you?"

Guan Xin, her breathing slightly rapid with her chest rising and falling, responds:

"It’s not that I’m delicate, it’s just my first time in such a place, I didn’t expect it to be so overwhelming."

Her name is Guan Xin, hailing from the Highest Heaven of Confucianism, the youngest in the Mahayana Realm of Wenxin Heaven. He Youyi has his reasons for his discontent with her—not just her behavior at the Eternal Night Snow Mountain.

She came from Wenxin Heaven, humbling herself to Wild Horse Academy in Changsheng Continent, to gild herself with the gold of a Saint.

For a Confucian Saint, it’s not just cultivation that counts; achievements in the Literary Dao are also required.

Guan Xin is a true product of Wenxin Heaven, born into the timeless classics of Saints and Great Saints. Cultivating is as easy as drinking water for her. More crucially, her promotion within the Confucian Literary Dao has been alarmingly fast. At only twenty-seven, she is already a Scholarly Sage, just a step away from becoming a Saint.

That missing step, Wenxin Heaven wants her to take it at Changsheng Continent.

He Youyi had earlier received indications from Wenxin Heaven to help with her guidance.

The Great Saint who hinted to him before said, "Guan Xin is a good child, with hopes of entering the door of the Literary Ancestor. Setting up her Saints’ Monument in Changsheng Continent, where no one has left the ancestral gate, is most fitting, to also add some fame to Changsheng Continent."

To this, He Youyi asked, "Since she’s setting up a Saints’ Monument, is her Saint’s article ready?"

The Great Saint did not answer this question, just smiled and said, "Youyi, your words harbor meaning, but don’t let your heart harbor intent. Changsheng Continent needs a Literary Ancestor."

Then He Youyi fell silent, nodding to take on this task.

Actually, over this period of interaction, He Youyi felt that Guan Xin indeed had some abilities, and if she traveled around the world more, she would eventually become a Saint.

But why do this? Why come to Changsheng Continent? Why engage in this gilding activity? Are they not afraid that the Saints’ Monument may not stand firm and be toppled over time?

He sets aside these mixed thoughts and carefully observes the enormous pit before him, which is bottomless and stretches endlessly, along with the floating peaks above it. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

Guan Xin draws a path of Literary Energy arc, standing on another mountain peak, and takes a look.

"Is this the Fallen Immortal Land?"

He Youyi walks forward, stepping into the air, with each step growing a leaf of Literary Energy underfoot. Guan Xin follows as well, but beneath her feet are Literary Energy Petals instead.

Here, there is no vital energy nor any sense of the Dao; it’s deathly silent, with hoarse wails rising from below, lamentations of an unknown origin.

"According to the Wenxin Historical Records, when the Immortal Path collapsed, all twenty-one Ascension Lands were severed by a demonic sword, and since then, the Cultivation Realm could no longer ascend." He Youyi gazes at the sky, "No one knows what the true lords in heaven went through, what led to this. Ten thousand years ago, when the Dao Ancestor opened the world with purple energy, his life or death has been unknown. Eight thousand years ago, when the Jade Ancestor composed literature to challenge the Heavenly Dao, both the Literary and Martial paths were destroyed. Seven thousand years ago, the Great Sword Immortal Li Yuan cleaved through overgrowth with a sword, breaking the Dao at a barren mountain, only to meet the demise of both sword and self."

He sighed, "Our generation, striving to find a path of the Dao amidst these crevices. Yet, the transformation of these twenty-one Ascension Lands into Fallen Immortal Lands are like great mountains weighing on us."

Guan Xin said, "Great Sword Immortal Li Yuan is probably still alive. When I came to Changsheng Continent, I saw someone who looked just like him."

He Youyi turned to look at her, saying with exasperation, "I said so much, and all you say is he’s not dead?"

Guan Xin said, "Mr. He, if you wish to say something to me, speak directly. Moreover, let’s stick to the facts."

He Youyi remained silent, thinking to himself, you actually know to stick to the facts.

They continued to delve deeper into this Fallen Immortal Land for investigation.

Three days later, they exited from another end.

He Youyi said heavily, "It will fully awaken in three and a half to four years."

Guan Xin said, "That’s even sooner than the Saints predicted."

"Sigh." He Youyi had a troubled face, "Is there enough time for Changsheng Continent to prepare?"

At this moment, a Dao Platform floated out from the Fallen Immortal Land.

He Youyi looked closely and it was Zhu Zixuan.

Upon seeing them, Zhu Zixuan smiled, "Oh, you’re here too."

Guan Xin nodded slightly, "Guan Xin greets Celestial Venerable Zhu."

Zhu Zixuan still bore the appearance of a young boy, with rosy lips and white teeth, his hair floating.

He Youyi glanced at him, "Weren’t you preparing for the Dao Trial?"

Zhu Zixuan waved his hand, "I don’t like managing those things, I’d rather let the old men handle them. I’ll just watch. Oh right, the young girl you recommended, I’ve already met her."

"How is she?"

"Smart and clever, exceptionally talented, with a pure heart. Her Dao is pristine, her character upright, and her will determined."
