Overpowered Awakening: I Became Invincible With A Broken Talent-Chapter 197: Ship

Their initial plan was to clear the monsters from the ship so Nox could use his powers to transport it to a safer place away from the Shadowfen River. If there were monsters lurking on the ship and it was transported without properly searching and clearing them away, it would simply be like serving the monsters on a golden platter.

Once Nox received the signal, he created a large shadow pit beneath the ship. His shadow pit was not affected by the surface, hence neither solid nor liquid surfaces had any effect on it.

With that, he easily warped the whole ship into the shadow pit and sent it to the shore far away from the chaos, where it was safe. Shockingly, despite the population of monsters here, none were on the shore, not even a single one.

With the civilians gone, Nox then focused on moving the hunters away.

With everyone taken to safety, the monsters all focused their attention on the Vereenas and Marlon.

The sea became even more chaotic, waves rising violently due to the frantic movement of the monsters, and even whirlpools began to appear.

More of them poured out, including the bigger ones.

Some were even as big as the ship that had just been transported away.

Their noise filled the entire area as they furiously charged at the squad.

Liora and Solan, used to fighting as a duo, a companionship they had developed on their home planet, charged together at a wave of monsters.

Liora was quite agile despite how she looked. Although not as fast as Solan in his inferno form, she could easily beat half of the guardians present in Arden in terms of speed.

Nonetheless, her use of the blades was what truly set her apart.

She was graceful, swift, and lethal with the two pink lightsaber combination.

Her gorgeous yet battle-ready suit made her fighting style even more enticing to watch, even amidst the chaos.

Thanks to its flying and swimming components, she easily dived into the troubled waters and struck her opponents unaware.

Her usual cheerfulness was nowhere to be found, as her face held a cold and unbroken focused expression. She was completely composed.

Nonetheless, like ice and fire, Solan was the total opposite.

He was talkative.

Despite the noise from the thousands of monsters in the river, his bragging and laughter could still be heard clearly.

"Fucking dimwitted fishhead.. it really thought it could withstand my flame... Haha!"

"Haha, Liora did you see that?"

His voice trailed off every minute as he continued fighting.

So much that even Nox, who was not fighting close to him, was already getting annoyed the more he heard it. The black-haired Void Pathos user even briefly thought of sealing his comrade inside the shadow pit just to stop his incessant noise.

As for Marlon, he paid no attention to the drama.

He was still in his [Prince Of Death] state.

Weaker monsters became immobile the moment they felt his presence, and the stronger ones, like the gigantic octopus-looking monster that had suddenly appeared in the middle of the chaos, observed him closely.

Marlon could feel its piercing gaze on his body, as though it could see through him.

When he turned and met its eyes, he sensed a strange level of intelligence that the other monsters did not possess, almost like he was looking at an aurax.

When he used [Inspect], nothing was displayed, only question marks, and this immediately proved his suspicions.

The gigantic octopus floating in the middle was an aurax. Apparently in its mutated form, just like how the dragon-taming aurax had been able to transform into a dragon.

A conclusion even came to Marlon's mind, that this octopus was the one controlling the entire horde.

"You're correct."

As the thought arose, he heard a telepathic message from Orion. Tilting his head toward the golden spaceship floating above the waters, he saw him standing there, staring at the octopus with a worried expression on his face.

"Be careful. I cannot even penetrate its mental space with my powers. Only a being at least SS-rank can pull off something like this," Orion said.

"My guess is that it is an Index-3 aurax, but much stronger than the two earlier. Tread carefully around it. I will continue trying to see if I can hack into its mind and break its control."

With that, the telepathic message ended, and Marlon finally grasped his situation fully.

Nonetheless, instead of panicking and seeing the Index-3 aurax as a threat, he saw it as a goldmine.

With a firm resolve to slay its minions, absorb and store their damage as a strength boost, and level up as much as he could, Marlon turned away from it and, with a single phrase, pronounced death on nearby S-rank and weaker monsters.

[ Level up ]

[ Level 265 --> 266 ]

Gradually, yet not slowly, he ascended levels as though they were nothing.

He used [Pronunciation of Death] as much as he could.

Although this single skill was aether-consuming, he remained unbothered.

The moment he killed anything, his health bar and Aether points bar were filled up immediately.

Unfortunately, with the large chunk of units he had been gaining so far, he could not add more to their current capacity due to the limit set by his current rank.

On the bright side, he never ran out of any of them.

To the point that even Aether Eater became useless, as he had never gotten weakened to the state of needing to eat something to recover aether.

Time went by quickly as they all fought together against the horde.

Almost two hours had passed since the appearance of the giant octopus.

It was now nighttime.

The moon hung in the sky, casting its crescent light upon a world that lay in shambles.

At this moment, Liora had become exhausted. Her movements had grown sluggish, and if it were not for Solan stepping in and Nox using his rift to transport the threat away, she would have been wounded badly.

Solan had also grown somewhat sluggish, but not to the dangerous extent that Liora had reached.

As a Vereena of the Solar Pathos, he was most powerful during the daytime, and at nighttime, his powers naturally experienced a dip.

Back in Vereena, a normal Solar Pathos being would experience up to a seventy percent dip in power at night.

But Solan was of a royal bloodline amongst the Solar Pathos. His bloodline was an evolved one, and the dip he experienced during nighttime was only a little over ten percent, a major advantage compared to others.

Much like Solan, Orion was weakened during the daytime and stronger at night.

Orion, also from a royal bloodline amongst his people of the Lunar Pathos, experienced less of a dip during the daytime and an even greater boost during nighttime, especially when there was a full moon like the one in the sky right now.

At the moment, his moon-shaped tattoo glowed brightly.

Different from the two major Pathos, Liora from the Stellar Pathos and Nox from the Void Pathos were unaffected by time.

They remained the same whether it was daytime or nighttime. Liora was simply experiencing sluggishness because her abilities were consuming. After all, she had to constantly channel aether to her battlesuit and lightsabers to maintain their functions, and she also expended more energy engaging in close-range combat.

Nox was still very much the same as when he began. He casually swapped attacks and slaughtered his enemies without much strain on his muscles.

Yet while the two of them had no serious weak point like the other two, they were ranked lower within Vereenas society.

Sun and Moon had always been the most revered amongst the solar system.

In Vereenas, the overall ruler was from the Solar Pathos, and legends claimed he could create a sun on his own in the absence of one.

The second in command, his wife, the Moon Queen, had even used her power to create a moon over their planet when their original moon was destroyed decades ago by the aurax. Her ability to create one made it possible for the people to believe that their absolute ruler could also create a second sun if he wished.

As for the Stellar Pathos, they were the major craftsmen in Vereenas. Their ability to channel stellar powers and transform trash into high-grade technology made them second only after the two major Pathos.

Nonetheless, the Void Pathos.

They were the bane of society, discarded like the Deadlight District.

Those born into the Void Pathos were either cursed or blessed at birth.

More than ninety-five percent were cursed.

Their birth either determined that they were cursed with nothing or blessed with the ability to control the Nothingness, the Void.

Nox was blessed, hence why he was able to join a team with the likes of Orion and Solan.

Nonetheless, his powers came with chaos and sorrow, burdens he always fought hard to keep away.
