Chapter 100: Chapter 102: Forced to Cohabit (Forty-Five)

"Anning!"

Someone suddenly called out from behind her; it was Yang Yufang’s voice.

Ji Anning’s thoughts were interrupted; she hurriedly shifted her gaze from Ji Chicheng’s hand and turned to look at Yang Yufang, "Mom."

After calling out, she walked over, squeezing out a slight smile on her face, "Why are you still awake at this late hour?" 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

She was afraid Yang Yufang would ask why she came back so late; she really didn’t want to make up lies in front of Ji Chicheng. She couldn’t do that, so she took the initiative to avoid the question.

As she looked at Yang Yufang after asking the question, Ji Chicheng happened to walk past her with a cup, probably going downstairs for water.

Ji Anning relaxed completely.

Jingfeng has a fever; it’s over 39 degrees. He just took medicine. I’m worried about him and was planning to go see if his fever has gone down," Yang Yufang said with a worried frown, suddenly reaching out to grab Ji Anning’s hand, her expression turning into a smile, "Anning, it’s perfect timing that you’re back. Go check if Jingfeng’s fever has subsided, and stay in his room tonight. He’ll likely need water after his fever breaks, so you can keep an eye on him. I’m quite sleepy myself."

Saying this, she yawned, looking really tired.

"Uh," Ji Anning hesitated upon hearing this, and almost instinctively, her glance darted towards the stairwell.

The man’s footsteps also paused at the same time, his body stopping momentarily.

But in less than a second, those long legs resumed moving, taking even longer strides towards the stairwell, turning the corner, disappearing.

The heavy footsteps reached Ji Anning’s ears, giving her no grounds for refusal. She should have agreed without hesitation, yet she bowed her head, struggling for a while before she finally nodded lightly, "...Okay."

In fact, even if she wanted to, Jingfeng might not let her stay in his room for the night; he disliked her so much.

So what was there to hesitate about? Why hesitate at all?

Ji Anning curled her lips in self-mockery.

"Then hurry and go," Yang Yufang urged, pushing Ji Anning towards Ji Jingfeng’s room.

Ji Anning looked at her helplessly, returned to her room to drop off her bag, and then entered Ji Jingfeng’s room.

The curtains in the room were tightly drawn, with only a small lamp lit by the bed, dimming the light.

A faint fragrance lingered, the scent of the perfume Ji Jingfeng usually wore; the room had not changed much since she had last entered.

The last time she was here was about a month ago, when her mother asked her to call Ji Jingfeng downstairs for a midnight snack.

That time, Jingfeng was sitting in front of the computer, engrossed in a game. She only called out to him once and immediately left.

Walking to the bedside, she saw Ji Jingfeng lying in a drowsy state. Ji Anning’s hand reached out, pausing mid-air for two seconds before continuing forward and touching Ji Jingfeng’s forehead. It was still hot, but he had begun to sweat.

She withdrew her hand, sat down on the edge of the bed, and pulled out a few tissues to wipe Ji Jingfeng’s sweat.

"What are you doing here?"

Ji Jingfeng’s eyes suddenly opened, looking at Ji Anning coldly, the distaste in his eyes, uncovered.

Ji Anning, caught off guard by his sudden awakening, trembled as she withdrew her hand, hurriedly pulling it back, "You have a fever. Mom asked me to take care of you."

She gave a brief and clear explanation, tossing the tissues in her hand into the trash can.

"Ji Anning!"

A dangerous glint suddenly flashed in Ji Jingfeng’s eyes, and as Ji Anning realized it, his hand had already reached out, grabbing her arm.

Caught off guard, she was pulled down by him, and then he flipped over, pinning her beneath him.
