Pampered by My Ex's Cousin-Chapter 259 - 253 We Really Got Together (5)
She didn’t care whether it hit or not, she immediately rolled up the window.
Then she turned her head, glanced at Ji Chicheng, and even in the dim light, she still saw him smile, a gloss that the night couldn’t hide.
Ji Anning started to feel awkward, diverted her gaze from Ji Chicheng’s face, and looked ahead, puffing out her chest to hide her embarrassment.
"That bottle of water was mine," Ji Chicheng suddenly turned to Ji Anning and said, "I saw that the other person caught it."
The smile that was on his face had disappeared, leaving him expressionless.
Caught it? Ji Anning was surprised. She glanced toward the rearview mirror, the black sports car was still leisurely following them.
She frowned in annoyance. What kind of woman, pretty and with good driving skills? With that speed just now, she could even catch the water she threw.
She wondered if the woman would open and drink it, probably not? Wasn’t she afraid that the water wasn’t from her uncle?
But no matter what, remembering how the opponent had blatantly challenged her dignity and was eyeing her uncle, she felt very uncomfortable, especially since she was still relentlessly pursuing them now.
The more Ji Anning thought about it, the more upset she felt. She looked at Ji Chicheng, her tone slightly accusatory, "Uncle, can you not stop so abruptly in the middle of the road next time?"
Her words paused briefly, then she added, "And, can you let me know before you stop next time?"
She was always scared by his sudden braking.
Her mood was very apparent, and Ji Chicheng found it quite amusing as he held the steering wheel, glanced at the road ahead, and then looked at Ji Anning with interest.
The radio was playing the original ’Crossing Oceans to See You’.
For you, I used up half a year’s savings
to cross the ocean to see you
For this meeting
I even practiced the breathing when I see you
Words have never been able to express a ten-millionth of my feelings
For your promise, I even held back tears in the most desperate times
...
As the lyrics reached the climax, Ji Anning suddenly stretched out her hand, grabbing Ji Chicheng’s wrist.
Her petite hand, seemingly frail and boneless, yet her grip was strong enough to surprise Ji Chicheng. He let go of the steering wheel and, with his free hand, tightly clasped Ji Anning’s hand in his, enveloping it completely.
This feeling was just amazing!
Ji Anning looked at Ji Chicheng, opened her mouth, but held back her words.
She wanted to tell him that once she had made ’Crossing Oceans to See You’ her motivation to strive.
But, now that they were together, she would keep it as a little secret in her heart; perhaps when they were old and couldn’t go anywhere, she could bring it up and talk about it slowly with him.
"You should go now."
The area around Anning’s home was messy, and Chicheng knew it, he insisted on walking her downstairs to her home.
He had actually wanted to walk her up to her apartment, but Anning stopped him.
"Drive safely," she cautioned Chicheng, then raised her hand to wave at him, "Bye."
Chicheng watched her, pursed his lips, and said softly, "I will watch you go up."
Anning, worried about her neighbors seeing them and feeling sympathy for Chicheng’s long flight, didn’t fuss. She nodded with a quiet ’hm’, then turned and went upstairs.
This was an old-style residential building, with only four floors.
The dilapidated staircase, with the paint peeling off the handrails, Anning held onto the railing, climbed a few steps, stopped, and leaned over to look down.
The tall figure of Chicheng was still there; he too looked up at her with a slight tilt of his head.
