Chapter 76: Chapter 77 Reluctant Cohabitation (Part 21)

After cleaning up the glass shards and water on the stairs, Ji Anning returned to her room, massaging her sore neck with one hand and turning on the light with the other.

She found the switch, pressed it, and the small, cozy room brightened.

The window was still open, letting the wind in, which made the curtains flutter wildly.

As she walked over to close the window, she glanced across at the room opposite and suddenly halted her movement.

The large room on the western side, with a balcony that was half the size of her room, was completely visible from her viewpoint.

The man, clad in a loose bathrobe, stood in front of the railing, his hands tucked into the pockets of his robe, facing her direction. His deep, dark eyes, like powerful magnets, forced her gaze toward him.

They stirred a startled deer in her heart, yet he himself was as tranquil as a painting.

’Snap’

The sound of a glass cup hitting the ground suddenly echoed in her mind.

It drew her thoughts back, and she coldly shifted her gaze, closed the window, and drew the curtains.

Completely blocking their line of sight.

She slowly turned around and leaned weakly against the window.

’Crying proves you’re weak, the weaker you are, the more they bully you...’

Are you not the same, bullying me just like them?

Ji Anning squatted against the wall, hugging her knees, her eyes blinking... blinking, her eyes full of tears that she couldn’t hold back.

Her phone in her pocket vibrated twice, but she ignored it.

Then, it started vibrating continuously, this time with a call. She quickly wiped her tears and took out her phone from her pocket.

She checked the caller ID, seeing it was an unknown number.

"Who is this?" Ji Anning frowned in confusion as she answered the call and brought it to her ear, "Hello?"

She had just been crying, her voice nasal and a bit choked, one could tell she was crying just by her voice.

For a while, there was no sound from the other end.

Ji Anning’s frown deepened, "Hello, who is this?"

She asked again, puzzled, and with no response from the other side, she got a bit impatient and was about to hang up.

Just then, a heavy breath, almost like a sigh, came from the other end.

Although she couldn’t tell whose voice it was, she was certain it was a man.

Demon!

Ji Anning suddenly thought of the ’demon’ whose number she had blocked, and her heart jumped, she immediately hung up the phone.

So late at night, calling her with a strange number and not speaking, it could be no other; it had to be him.

This guy really is like a bad penny.

Ji Anning was very uneasy, and she decided to blacklist this number as well, she looked down at the screen and saw an unread message.

It was also from this unknown number, she clicked on it, but it was an empty message.

Without much thought, she promptly set the number to her blacklist.

...

Because Ji Weisong’s anniversary of death was approaching, the atmosphere at home had become solemn, with a somewhat lifeless air.

Even Lin Yanqin’s family of three was very tactful, staying quiet and not daring to provoke Ji Anning during this period.

For several days, Ji Anning hadn’t seen Ji Chicheng, but in school, she still heard about him every day.

Like today, someone sent him a limited edition Armani scarf, which he didn’t even glance at.

And like how he smiled during a lecture today, his smile so charming, it almost bent several male students.

Or... the new English teacher who joined yesterday was his schoolmate in the U.S., and it seemed they were more than just acquaintances.
