Chapter 765: Chapter 757: Using Her Cornea (Part 8)

Ji Chicheng just turned around, catching her tiny movement. She quickly averted her gaze, her cheeks turning red.

Ji Chicheng frowned, "What are you getting all awkward about by yourself?"

This man!

He knew perfectly well she was feeling awkward and shy, yet he pointed it out, absolutely clueless about the mood. She was so annoyed.

Ji Anning pouted, turned around, and walked away to enjoy her pan-fried bun alone.

In the evening, Ji Chicheng had the housekeeper leave, and then the three of them went downstairs for a walk.

This was an eye hospital located by the seaside, where the air was exceptionally good. It was still just after the New Year, and the weather was quite chilly. Fenfen, in her thick down jacket, walked ahead.

The gauze wrapped around her forehead did not dampen her playful mood in the slightest.

On the irregular cobblestone path, Fenfen ran about, her little body swaying from side to side. Anning, worried she might fall, followed closely by her side, on edge.

Occasionally, Fenfen would turn back to hug her, their mother-daughter laughter echoing in Ji Chicheng’s ears.

Ji Chicheng, rarely seen in public, wore a smile on his handsome face.

So beautiful, so fulfilling.

"Fenfen, be careful."

Anning, walking ahead with Fenfen, reached a roundabout green area, a blind spot in their vision. Suddenly, a little boy just slightly bigger than Fenfen ran from the other side, poised to collide with her. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

Anning, anxious, called out a warning and reached out to pull Fenfen back, but she was a step too late, and the two children bumped into each other.

"Ouch."

The boy, clearly the older one, was the one to bump into her, while Fenfen just staggered back a few steps before Anning steadied her.

Anning glanced at Fenfen who seemed only a little scared and not hurt. Then quickly, she turned to check on the fallen boy, "Little friend, did you hurt yourself anywhere?"

As she helped the boy up with one hand, Ji Chicheng arrived and scooped up Fenfen in his arms.

With Chicheng holding Fenfen, Anning could fully concentrate on checking whether the boy was injured.

"No, I’m fine, sister," replied the boy, shaking his head. On his slightly dark face, a cheerful smile lingered.

While he spoke, he brushed a few dry leaves off his clothes with deft movements, showing none of the pettiness usually seen in kids his age.

He seemed strong, and Anning, with a slight smile, reached out to pat his little head, "You’re very brave, little friend."

"Sister, I lost my glasses. Can you help me find them?" the boy asked while searching the ground.

That’s when Anning noticed his weak eyes. He was turning in circles, his steps a bit unsteady.

She immediately thought that since this was an eye hospital catering mostly to those with eye problems, she should help him quickly. She reached out, held one of the boy’s arms, and steadied him, "Don’t worry, I’ll help you look for them."

"Thank you, sister," said the boy, politely thanking Anning, his face always wearing a sunny smile that could cheer anyone up.

Anning smiled back slightly, and after scanning the ground, she found a pair of glasses on the edge of a flower bed. She picked them up, put them on the boy, and asked, "Here are your glasses; see if they’re the right fit."

The boy touched the glasses and then nodded confidently, "They are mine, thank you, sister."

His bright eyes looked at Anning, and though the focus was a bit off, they were lively. Anning grew curious about what might be wrong with his eyes.
