Chapter 999: Chapter 1000: The Great Uncle-Nephew Couple Showdown (Part 3)

He sped up to catch up with her, but Ji Anning just ignored him, storming past him with a sullen look.

Clearly, she was throwing a tantrum.

"What’s going on?"

Not sure what had happened, Xiang Yiqing turned to look at the restaurant’s entrance, then at Ji Anning. Just then, a taxi pulled over at the curb. Once the previous passenger got out, Ji Anning climbed in.

After getting in, she immediately told the driver to go.

By the time Xiang Yiqing wanted to chase after her, it was already too late. Ji Chicheng happened to come running out, looking around but not seeing Ji Anning. He saw Xiang Yiqing instead.

He rushed over and grabbed him to ask, "Did you see Anning?"

"She got into a taxi and left." Xiang Yiqing pointed toward the curb and answered Ji Chicheng.

He had seen it.

Ji Chicheng was frustrated, "Why the hell didn’t you stop her for me?"

Xiang Yiqing rolled his eyes at him with an arrogant look, "Why the hell should I stop her for you when you pissed her off?"

Xin Xiaoxiao, who was tagging along beside him, quickly chipped in, adding insult to injury against Ji Chicheng, "Exactly. You can’t even keep your own wife from leaving, and you expect others to do it for you."

It was too late to say anything now. He reached for his collar, ready to tug at it, when he suddenly recalled that the shirt was bought for him by Ji Anning.

It was the first piece of clothing his wife had bought for him, so he quickly stopped himself, putting his hands on his hips. The sky was already dark, and the city lights were beginning to shine.

His gaze was somewhat perplexed.

It was the first time he had a tiff with Ji Anning, and he was utterly inexperienced. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞

Ji Chicheng was feeling anxious when Xiang Yiqing suddenly frowned and asked him, "You made Ji Anning so mad that she ran off—what did you do that was so over the line?"

In his heart, Ji Anning was good-natured and had a pleasant disposition; most importantly, she always gave in to Ji Chicheng.

So if they argued, it was definitely Ji Chicheng’s fault.

"Exactly." Xin Xiaoxiao chimed in with Xiang Yiqing, "Ji Anning is so timid, and you pissed her off so badly. You must have done something outrageous, and now you deserve this anxiety."

Just as they finished speaking, Xiang Yiqing added, "She’s pregnant now, and that already causes all sorts of potential mood swings, not to mention the pressure she’s feeling. Couldn’t you just give her a break?"

"I..." Ji Chicheng spread his hands, looking like he didn’t know how to explain his grievances, gestured for a long time, then sighed, "Ah, I didn’t expect it would turn out like this either."

If he had anticipated this, he wouldn’t have been so stubborn, even if he were beaten to death. Why antagonize his own wife like that?

The more he thought about it, the more regretful he felt. He wiped his face with his hand and then stretched out his long legs, running toward the parking lot.

"I’m going to find her."

...

The phone kept ringing, but Ji Anning just wouldn’t pick up, though she didn’t turn it off either.

She sat in the taxi, staring out the car window at the brightly lit city. Her mood was inexplicably mournful.

It really was just a trivial matter, and her uncle wasn’t even that much at fault, but she didn’t know why she got so furious at that moment, as if something had been pent up inside her for a long time.

Now she also felt quite regretful, but... things had escalated to this point. Plus, it was their first argument, and people say the attitude in the first argument is crucial; it sets the tone for every future quarrel.

So, regardless of right or wrong, she had to make sure her stance was firm and strong, she had to claim her territory.

"Miss, where do you want to go?"

After aimlessly driving around for quite a while, the taxi driver couldn’t help but ask Ji Anning again.

He had already asked once when she got in earlier, and Ji Anning responded by saying she just wanted to wander around.
