Pampered By My Fake Boyfriend's Brother-Chapter 30: Being the Elder Sister-in-Law
As soon as the little one finished speaking, Shen Jingrou came in carrying a tray.
In the next moment, she looked at her daughter with amusement and said, "What are you whispering to your little aunt behind my back?" ππππ¦ππππππ·ππ.πΈπ°π
"I, I didnβt!" The little one lowered her head guiltily, waving her hands repeatedly.
An Yin was still pondering over what the little one had just said.
Shen Jingrou placed the tray on the table and sat down across from them.
"Try this!" After saying that, she distributed the small cakes from the tray onto their plates.
The cake in front of the little one was mainly in cartoon shapes, looking quite adorable.
In contrast, the one before An Yin was clearly crafted with care. The cake, though small, was sculpted into the shape of a flower, looking almost real. An Yin was reluctant to take a bite.
"Hee hee, Iβm going to start!" The little one didnβt hesitate, picked up a small spoon, and happily scooped some cheesecake into her mouth.
Shen Jingrouβs eyes were fixed on her daughter, her face full of affection.
An Yin quietly sat on the side, her gaze moving between the mother and daughter, and suddenly, she remembered her own mother.
Since childhood, An Yinβs mother was always attentive and caring. Although An Yin never experienced fatherly love, her mother poured all her affection into her.
As An Yin stared in a daze at the cake, Shen Jingrou noticed.
"What are you thinking about?"
Shen Jingrouβs voice, like her name, was calm and composed, giving off a refreshing spring breeze feel.
Hearing her words, An Yin shyly replied, "I thought of my mom."
"Auntie must be beautiful and kind!" Shen Jingrou praised generously.
An Yin gave a faint smile, "You too!"
"Haha, your little mouth is so sweet even before eating the cake!" Shen Jingrou teased.
An Yin lowered her head, laughing shyly.
The little one quickly finished the cake on her plate, and knowing her daughter couldnβt stay still, Shen Jingrou made a suggestion, "Why donβt you go to the castle room to play with toys?"
"Okay, Mom." The little one clapped her hands happily.
Then she said to An Yin, "Little aunt, Iβm going to play now."
"Go ahead." An Yin looked at her with affection.
Such a cute little one!
The "castle room" Shen Jingrou mentioned was in the nearby childrenβs play area. Soon, they saw the little one grabbing some large blocks to start building...
Shen Jingrou observed her daughterβs actions until she looked away.
"Sheβs been in poor health since she was young, spending most of her time at home or in the hospital, so she doesnβt have many friends." Shen Jingrou stated calmly, perhaps because those experiences were behind her. Now, she could face it all calmly!
In a few simple words, she summarized what the little one had gone through these past years!
To say it doesnβt hurt would be a lie! An Yin felt her heart tighten, feeling a scratchy sensation in her throat, somewhat dry.
"Little Ai has loving parents. Sheβs very happy!" An Yin attempted to console, although she hadnβt met the little oneβs father. Seeing the innocent face, it wasnβt hard to imagine the little one must come from a warm family.
Little did she know, upon hearing her words, Shen Jingrouβs eyes showed a flash of melancholy and muttered, "Little Ai only has her mother!"
An Yinβs hand holding the spoon stiffened, and the spoon clattered onto the plate with a crisp sound. Realizing her abrupt action, she looked at Shen Jingrou timidly, "Iβm sorry, I..."
An Yin, like a child who had done wrong, stared at Shen Jingrou anxiously.
"Itβs okay, no need to apologize." Shen Jingrou looked at her, without a hint of blame, instead calmly explaining, "Maybe someday Iβll tell you Little Aiβs fatherβs story!"
For now, she wasnβt ready!
Furthermore, there were things she didnβt want to say in front of her daughter.
Shen Jingrou suddenly remembered the first time she saw An Yin, the girl standing protectively by her daughterβs side. In that instant, she felt an inexplicable closeness to An Yin.
Although she was a few years younger, Shen Jingrou didnβt feel there was a generation gap between them!
"Mm!"
After hearing Shen Jingrouβs words, An Yin felt a bit down, maybe because she empathized and felt even more sorry for the little one.
Seeing her crestfallen face, Shen Jingrou was about to comfort her, but got interrupted.
"I only have my mom too!"
After saying that, An Yin quickly lowered her head, not wanting the other to see her in a sorry state.
"Here." Shen Jingrou said softly.
The next second, An Yin saw a tissue handed to her.
"Boo-hoo, Sister Jingrou, youβre annoying..." An Yin took the tissue, the tears welling in her eyes instantly fell, and she turned her head, quickly wiping them away.
How embarrassing! An Yin thought to herself.
The sad atmosphere in the air was somewhat dispelled because of An Yinβs tears.
"Weβve been sitting for quite a while, and you havenβt even tasted your cake." Shen Jingrou urged, trying to ignore her teary eyes so as not to make her cry again.
She truly didnβt expect, An Yin cried even more than her daughter!
Remembering what the little one said earlier, An Yin asked softly, "Did you make all these cakes?"
"Little Ai must have told you that!" Shen Jingrou didnβt need to think to know.
An Yin nodded, "Yes."
"Then hurry and try my skills." Shen Jingrou didnβt deny it.
An Yin picked up a delicate spoon, scooped a small bite, and after tasting it, savoring every bit, her face lit up with joy, "Itβs delicious!"
She wasnβt just flattering.
The cake wasnβt greasy at all, with a faint fragrance left lingering after.
Hearing her words, Shen Jingrouβs expression remained calm, showing her confidence in her baking skills.
"Then have some more." Shen Jingrou said with a warm smile.
"Of course." An Yin nodded eagerly.
Shen Jingrou sat by, watching her eat, occasionally sipping tea, looking quite at ease.
Just then, a phone buzzed.
Shen Jingrou took out her phone, looking at An Yin enjoying her cake, "Iβm going to take a call."
"Go ahead." Immersed in the food, An Yin nodded with satisfaction.
Seeing her so adorable, Shen Jingrou smiled, stood up, and upon turning, checked that her daughter was busy with a big balloon, then felt at ease leaving the room.
In the hallway, she answered the call.
With the phone to her ear, no matter what was being said, Shen Jingrouβs face remained expressionless, occasionally letting out an "Oh!"
The person on the other end might have thought she was too dismissive, so their voice got louder.
Shen Jingrouβs face grew more solemn.
Finally, she took a deep breath, "Mom, whether Ayue wants to get married or not is his decision. As his sister-in-law, I shouldnβt interfere too much."
"But he listens to you the most!" Lin Mu on the other end almost shouted, completely losing the demeanor of a wealthy lady.
