Pampered By My Fake Boyfriend's Brother-Chapter 497: Take a Breather
"Can you not tell my mom that I came to see you?" An Yin mumbled.
The nurse nodded, "I won’t say anything." After all, she wasn’t familiar with the little girl’s mother and the chances of meeting again were slim.
"Zhang Wan, the head nurse is looking for you." A nurse walked in from outside and shouted towards the door.
"I’m coming." The nurse called out, then turned her head to look at the little girl, "I’ll go now."
"Okay."
With that, the nurse hurriedly left the nebulization room.
Leaving An Yin standing there all alone, her delicate thin lips repeatedly murmured a string of numbers, her eyes bright but soon dimmed.
Clearly, it was just a string of numbers, but in her heart, it seemed like a long-cherished treasure. Every time she gently spoke it, her hollow heart gradually filled up.
She would never forget the nights she spent alone in her room as a child. Every late night, she would hide under the covers and quietly call out "Dad," even though her only response was the silent air. But after calling out, she was no longer afraid of the dark, as if mysteriously, "Dad" was truly guarding her side.
Her classmates said that a father was like a tall mountain, indestructible, protecting his children.
Back then, she had imagined the appearance of the mountain more than once.
Now, the other person’s phone number was engraved in her mind, and in no time, she had the contact info for "Dad."
She was sure that he was "Dad" because she understood Ms. An as someone who was trapped her entire life by her obsessions. Such an unrelenting person must be single-minded in her feelings.
When An Yin returned to the ward, it was already half an hour later.
To her surprise, when she got back, she saw Ms. An sitting on the edge of the bed.
Noticing her daughter entering the room, An Ying quickly stood up, her brows slightly furrowed, "Why were you out for so long?"
An Yin weakly replied, "Getting some air."
She noticed that there were quite a few people standing by the window.
Bao Shaojin was talking to the doctor, and Assistant Lin stood beside him.
An Yin was puzzled. It wasn’t the time for rounds, so why was the doctor there?
Just as the thought came to her, she heard Ms. An’s slightly anxious voice.
"Yinyin, I just talked to the doctor; you can be discharged now. Later, I’ll get some medicine for you to take back to school." An Ying’s expression was weary, with hidden emotions in her eyes.
An Yin came in front of Ms. An, and her conversation with the nurse in the corridor earlier sparked a thought in her mind.
The man had actually been looking for Ms. An all this time!
But Ms. An kept avoiding him. An Yin couldn’t figure out the hidden reasons, but she was sure about one thing. The man had found out the name of the nurse, and would probably find the hospital soon, which is why Ms. An was eager for her to be discharged, fearing he’d come to find them?
An Yin had always obediently listened to Ms. An, and it was rare, if ever, that she talked back.
Last time, although An Ying reprimanded her, An Yin only dared to retort a few words, and very soon, she admitted her mistake to Ms. An.
Seeing Ms. An’s anxious look now, An Yin’s heart felt very calm.
A voice inside her kept saying: An Ying is your mother, who has raised you with much hardship and given you the best life possible. You cannot betray her.
This voice hadn’t even stopped when another angry voice rose: It’s because of her that you never had fatherly love. You cannot forgive her. You cannot...
The two completely different voices tangled in An Yin’s mind, causing her a splitting headache.
"Stop arguing!" An Yin shouted, holding her head and shaking it vigorously.
An Yin’s unusual behavior quickly drew everyone’s attention.
An Ying, being closest to her daughter, immediately came over and pulled her daughter’s hands down, "Yinyin, what’s wrong?"
Didn’t she just mention discharging from the hospital? An Ying pondered to herself, not feeling like she had said anything wrong.
From afar, Bao Shaojin and the doctor rushed over too, coming to An Yin’s side. Bao Shaojin gave a sharp glance at the doctor.
The doctor understood and came to the little girl’s side.
"Let her lie down first."
After the doctor spoke, An Ying was about to help her daughter back to bed, but as she reached for her daughter’s wrist, her daughter brushed her hand away.
The next moment, An Yin laid down by herself.
An Ying was momentarily stunned, but didn’t think much of it, as her daughter seemed a bit unwell at the moment.
Before long, someone brought in a medical cart. After a series of checks, the doctor found everything normal, and everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
An Yin closed her eyes, and in that short time, many thoughts bubbled up in her heart.
If her earlier guess was true, that her lack of fatherly love was An Ying’s doing, what should she do?
Regardless, An Ying raised her with great difficulty, giving her all her love — that was undeniable.
Was that word "Dad" really so important to her? Or was it because she never had fatherly love that she held such a beautiful fantasy about "Dad"?
As An Yin opened her eyes, the doctor had left without her noticing.
An Ying looked at her daughter, full of concern, feeling like her daughter might be hiding something from her.
"Mom, let’s get discharged. I’m fine!" An Yin’s eyes were bright and clear.
"I can’t be at ease seeing you like this." An Ying had been eager to get her out of the hospital before, but seeing her daughter so frail, she let go of any concerns. Nothing mattered more than her daughter’s health.
"I’m really fine."
An Ying pondered silently.
An Yin got up, found clothes from the wardrobe, and grabbed a sanitary pad, heading to the restroom.
Bao Shaojin hadn’t spoken from start to finish, merely watching the little girl quietly, her eyes showing a hint of conflict, as if caught in an inner struggle, unsure of what to do.
The way the little girl looked at Aunt An was a bit different from before, so her sudden volatility might have something to do with Aunt An!
Since everyone was in the ward, there were things he couldn’t ask now.
With Bao Shaojin around, the discharge procedure went very smoothly.
Originally, Bao Shaojin had planned to personally escort An Ying home, but after her repeated refusals, Assistant Lin ended up taking An Ying back, and naturally, Aunt Zhang went along.
Bao Shaojin thought he would have to work hard to persuade her, but to his surprise, after explaining the pros and cons, Aunt An easily agreed.
As for An Yin, Bao Shaojin personally saw her off.
