Peaceful Farm Life-Chapter 1954 - 1955: Helping with the Payback
Su Yixing and the others had all returned to their respective courtyards to rest, but An Yiqing didn’t leave. However, he didn’t knock on the door or apologize anymore. He just sat quietly on the steps outside Gong Le’s room, thinking about everything between him and Gong Le.
Thinking about it, just as Su Yixing and the others had said, he and Gong Le were indeed quite intimate, more so than many engaged couples, yet he had never thought there was anything wrong with that...
At this moment, he sincerely regretted it.
If he had realized something was wrong and maintained the appropriate distance with the grown-up Gong Le, today’s incident would never have happened.
Slightly turning his head to look at the tightly closed door behind him, An Yiqing felt not only regret but also a deep sadness.
She cried for a long time; he heard it. Moreover, she cried until her voice went hoarse, and he heard that from outside the door as well.
He used to tease her often, but he never meant to break her heart, especially not this badly.
After sitting at Gong Le’s door for two more hours, An Yiqing finally returned to his own courtyard to rest.
But even though he lay down, An Yiqing couldn’t fall asleep. He tossed and turned, with Gong Le’s cries echoing in his mind, reminding him over and over that he had hurt Gong Le.
In the end, An Yiqing compromised.
"Isn’t it just marrying you? I will marry you." An Yiqing muttered, staring at the ceiling. "Even if I meet someone I like in the future, I will still marry you. I just want you to stop being sad so I can get a good night’s sleep."
An Yiqing didn’t have as much trouble waking up as An Yizhi, but when An Yiqing didn’t sleep well, he would be out of sorts for days, and An Yiqing didn’t like this state at all.
Once he made up his mind, An Yiqing was truly at peace, no longer restless. He pondered telling Gong Le about marrying her when morning came, and he slowly drifted into sleep.
But he didn’t expect that by morning, when he went to find Gong Le, she had already set off for Slayer Tower with Su Yixing and Huo Qingyi, without leaving him a single word.
Did this mean she had thought it through and wouldn’t let him marry her?
An Yiqing thought he would be happy if she didn’t want him to marry her, but staring at Gong Le’s now-empty room, he couldn’t feel any happiness at all.
Every time Gong Le left, she would say goodbye to him and cling to him for quite a while before leaving. But today, she didn’t. He had to ask the guard to find out that Gong Le had gone to see his second brother early in the morning and then left the Royal Palace with his brother and Huo Qingyi.
When he had breakfast, An Yiqing seemed to eat normally, but it all tasted like wax to him.
Maybe An Yilin noticed An Yiqing’s unease, and while eating breakfast leisurely, he commented, "Lele came knocking on our door early in the morning, saying she was going home and that she didn’t want you to marry her anymore."
So she really didn’t want him to marry her...
An Yiqing felt even more distressed.
No matter how An Yiqing tried to act normal, An Yiqi, An Yilin, and An Yizhi could all see that An Yiqing was in low spirits. The three exchanged a glance, then lowered their heads, continuing to eat breakfast with smiles hinting at tormenting someone.
They were definitely going to help Gong Le torment their third brother properly. Who made their third brother smack their palms before!
...
After breakfast, An Yiqing thought about going to Slayer Tower to find Gong Le, but he remembered that the New Year was approaching, and he had to take his three beautiful younger brothers back to his parents’ to celebrate, so he gave up on the idea.
