After giving Bai Ran a few instructions, Sun Zhe got up and walked toward the tent where Yao Rao and Han Xinyue were.

He considered himself a man of honor and had no intention of sneaking off to find the treasure alone.

"Sect Leader Yao, are you asleep?" Sun Zhe called out softly as he reached the edge of the tent.

After waiting for a moment with no response, he activated his Yin Yang X-ray Vision. A glance inside revealed that only Han Xinyue was in the tent, and she was sleeping soundly.

Damn it, did that poker-faced woman, Yao Rao, sneak off to find the treasure herself? I swear, one of these days I'm going to get back at her. I'll pin her over my lap and spank her good. And I have to say, her perky little ass is quite a sight. It must feel incredible…

Sun Zhe muttered to himself like a gossiping old woman. Just as he turned to leave, a white figure appeared in his view. The sight scared him so badly he lurched backward, the hair on his skin standing on end, and he nearly jumped out of his skin.

"Holy crap!"

"Do you have to scare people like this in the middle of the night?" Sun Zhe frantically patted his chest, glaring at Yao Rao, who stood before him as quietly as a ghost. He was so angry he wanted to go right over and spank her.

She was silent and still, dressed in a white one-piece dress, her long hair flowing. To see someone like that so unexpectedly in this environment was damn scary!

Yao Rao glanced at Sun Zhe, her face devoid of expression. "Do you need something?"

Sun Zhe scratched his head. I wonder if she overheard what I just said.

When Sun Zhe didn't speak, Yao Rao started walking toward the tent, not bothering with him any longer. She said coolly, "Sun Witch Master, please show some self-respect. Do not make any more crude remarks that tarnish a person's name."

Sun Zhe's expression turned awkward. So she did hear me. He quickly changed the subject. "Where did you go so late at night?"

Hearing this, Yao Rao slowed her pace and spoke with indifference. "My actions are none of your business."

Sun Zhe lowered his gaze to her back. "Did you go looking for the snake?"

Yao Rao stopped and gently shook her head. "No."

In truth, she had just gone to relieve herself and had found a small stream to wash up. As a 'little fairy,' she was naturally more concerned with cleanliness than coarse men like Sun Zhe.

Sun Zhe said earnestly, "Actually, I came to get you. I wanted us to go check on that snake and loot some good stuff."

"No matter how you look at it, we killed it together, so things like the Inner Core should be split evenly."

At his words, Yao Rao turned to face him and said slowly, "To be frank, I passed by there earlier."

Sun Zhe frowned. "And?"

Yao Rao explained, "After the red snake died, toxic gas spread from its venom sac. The area for dozens of meters around is barren, and it's impossible to approach. We must wait a few days for the toxins to dissipate before we can get close." 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞

Sun Zhe, however, shook his head. "I can't wait that long. I have to set out to find someone tomorrow morning. If we wait any longer, the snake meat will rot."

Yao Rao asked, "What do you propose?"

A mysterious smile appeared on Sun Zhe's face as he pulled two small, leaf-shaped wooden pieces from his pocket.

By the light of the campfire, Yao Rao studied them for a moment, a hint of surprise flashing in her eyes.

"Is this Candle Dragon Fragment?"

Sun Zhe generously tossed one piece to her. "It's also called White Silk Hulus. I'm lending this to you; you have to give it back later."

Yao Rao caught the Candle Dragon Fragment without another word. Having been well-read in ancient texts since childhood, she naturally knew of its marvelous properties. With this Divine Medicine protecting them, they could completely ignore the toxic gas emanating from the dead red snake!

"In that case, let's go take a look."

Sun Zhe pulled a tactical flashlight from his cargo pants pocket and asked curiously, "Does Sect Leader Yao always talk like this?"

"What does Sun Witch Master mean by that?"

"Forget it. It's nothing. It's great, really."

"..."

「A short while later.」

Sun Zhe and Yao Rao arrived at the flattened section of the dense forest and found the red snake's corpse.

Just as Yao Rao had said, in a radius of several dozen meters around the snake's body, all the flowers, grass, and trees had turned black and withered. The land was truly barren!

Furthermore, Sun Zhe discovered the carcasses of numerous wild animals—leopard cats, lynxes, leopards, black bears, monkeys, and more. It was like the entire zoo had gone on a team-building trip and been collectively wiped out.

Clearly, these animals had been drawn to the red snake's corpse and then poisoned to death. This was proof that the red snake held a truly valuable treasure!

Sun Zhe was overjoyed. He hung a piece of the Candle Dragon Fragment around his neck and strode toward the snake's corpse. Although the Candle Dragon Fragment could ward off the poison, the foul, fishy stench from the corpse still gave him a splitting headache.

Yao Rao's heart was as still as water, free of ripples. She followed quietly behind Sun Zhe and said calmly, "Its Inner Core should be in its head. I have already reached the Great Perfection of the Nascent Soul Realm, so an Inner Core with a mere five hundred years of cultivation is useless to me."

"I only need its Blood Essence."

Full of curiosity, Sun Zhe asked, "What's Blood Essence?"

Yao Rao's jade-like hand flipped over, and a sharp dagger appeared as if by magic. "Blood Essence is condensed from its Essence Blood," she explained. "It's the key that allows it to break through the limits of its lifespan and cultivate for hundreds of years."

With that, she tossed the dagger to Sun Zhe. "You take the Inner Core. I'll take the Blood Essence."

Sun Zhe caught the dagger, weighing it in his hand. "By the way, how did you just make this thing appear? I don't see a bag on you. Where were you hiding this dagger?"

Hearing this, Yao Rao gave him a look one might reserve for a country bumpkin. "Sun Witch Master, are you not aware of Storage Treasures?"

"Storage Treasure?"

Sun Zhe shook his head, looking completely baffled. "You might laugh, but I honestly don't know."

Yao Rao lifted her jade-like hand, showing him the exquisite, flower-shaped ring on her index finger. "This is a Storage Treasure. It contains a Sumeru Space that can be used to store items, but only inanimate objects."

Sun Zhe stared at the ring, his eyes shining. So the stuff in novels is real. I've really seen it all now. The desire was written all over his face.

"It seems those novels were right. Say, do you have any more of those Storage Treasures?"

Yao Rao said, "This item is exceptionally rare. This one was a gift from my master when I was young."

Sun Zhe's eyes filled with anticipation. "So, are you selling?"

If I could get my hands on this, collecting herbs would be so much easier. I wouldn't have to carry huge bags and sacks on my back anymore, working like a laboring donkey.

Hearing this, Yao Rao gave him a look one might reserve for an idiot. Without a word, she turned and walked toward the snake's corpse.

Sun Zhe watched her back, his gaze landing on her alluring, peach-like bottom. "Sect Leader Yao, how about you name a price?"

"Not for sale!" Yao Rao's voice was sharp, her patience finally wearing thin.

Suddenly, the crisp, clear ring of a sword echoed through the forest!

Sun Zhe looked closely and saw that a long sword had appeared in Yao Rao's hand—the very same sword she had used to slay the snake earlier that day.

Crap, is she really pulling her sword on me?

Yao Rao glanced at him. "I will take the Blood Essence. You take the Inner Core."
