Chapter 30: Entrance Examination (7)

’Halo, this better work.’

Following the disciple, Seraph arrived before the aptitude rod. He pricked his finger, then held the rod with his hand.

At first, nothing happened. Seraph closed his eyes.

’Here it comes...’

Then, colors bloomed on the rod—red, yellow, green, blue, pink, gold, black, and several others. The colors interwined, becoming a rainbow, then began climbing up. It rose past the fourth-ci, the fifth-ci, and stopped on the sixth-ci.

Once again, the crowd was shocked. This was the fourth six-ci-aptitude they had seen at today’s test. Tamar, Marcus, and one other random guy were the previous three.

"Wait. I thought my father said he has a five-ci-aptitude."

Ariana blinked in confusion, being the most astonished person. Ever since she was born, she knew Kaiser as a fellow clansman, and a person of equal aptitudes.

Now seeing it wasn’t as she had thought, she didn’t know how to feel.

Elder Cassius placed a hand on her shoulder and said. "Seraph’s aptitude has always been strange. The first time we tested his aptitude, it was a seven-ci-aptitude. But we had to hide it to avoid our clan being targeted."

The girl looked at him and asked. "But what about now?"

Elder Cassius glanced at her, then looked at Seraph’s figure on the stage.

"I believe his aptitude is different from the normal. Don’t envy him. Instead, focus on yourself alone."

Ariana nodded with a determined expression.

Meanwhile, the man continued staring at Seraph, thinking. ’Is he controlling the gauge with his mysterious backer’s help. They must be very strong.’

On the stage, Elder Wang grew very interested. He called one of the disciples and asked him to investigate Seraph and Ariana’s background.

’A rainbow color? It can’t be so many elements, right? If they’re from the same place, then we should investigate their origins.’

The disciple led Seraph to the metal slab, and he stood upon it. Instantly, it lit up and displayed a bold text—INITIAL ADVANCED STAGE.

The crowd gasped, astonished. Their eyes widened in shock and surprise as they stared at the white-haired boy.

An Initial Advanced Stage cultivator at the age of eleven! This was unheard of!

Tamar’s pupils constricted sharply. ’He’s already at that level with only eleven years of age? And his foundation is very strong.’

Her eyes rippled with awe. She couldn’t fathom how it had happened, but she knew he had surpassed her.

After all, she only broke through to the Advanced Stage after reaching the age of twelve.

"Tamar, don’t get disturbed. It is not good for your health."

Her guardian said softly, gently gripping her shoulder.

Tamar nodded and took a deep breath. She stopped thinking about Seraph and instead paid attention to her surroundings.

Seraph, after having received a new tag, came down the stage. The crowd parted before him, making him reach Elder Cassius and Ariana easily.

He smiled at them both and said. "Am I the only one not surprised by my aptitude?"

The two blinked in confusion, staring blankly at him. He wasn’t surprised? Does that mean he planned everything?

Seraph played with the diamond pendant hung on his neck. "I always knew I’m a genius. It’s just that my talent evolves slowly. Soon, I’ll have a hundred-ci-aptitude."

"Pfft!"

Ariana almost held back her laugh as Seraph spoke. However, she failed. Hundred-ci-aptitude? Was it even possible?

"Hmph, you’ll see. Don’t say I didn’t warn you."

Seraph snorted, a playful expression on his face as he nudged Ariana.

’That should lessen their worries and suspicion for some while.’

Holding the new tag, he patiently waited till the end of this stage of the examination.

Elder Wang rose from his chair, stepping forward to address the remaining participants. Finally, they were around a hundred and fifty who qualified.

"You all are good and impressive. Your results today are dazzling. I can only hope you survive the next stage tomorrow."

Dropping such a disheartening line, Elder Wang turned around and flew into the sky. The four disciples carried the equipments and followed him, gliding on their swords to moving faster.

.............

When Elder Wang Tem returned to the sect, he immediately headed to the Soul Peak where the Sect Master resided.

"Return the equipment to Elder Fang."

He gave an order to the disciples, then departed into the Sect Master’s Manor alone.

As soon as he stepped in, he heard a faint sigh.

"Little Tem, are you done with today’s examinations?"

A calm, male voice spoke to him.

Elder Wang immediately knelt on one knee, his expression respectful.

"Sect Master. I’ve come back to give a review."

"Oh? Come to the poolside."

He nodded, walking through the exquisite design of the Manor’s interior. Soon, he arrived at the poolside where a seemingly young lad was relaxing in a pool. Although he looked young, he was extremely old. Even Elder Wang could only consider himself a son to him.

The boy had dark grey hair and sharp green eyes, and an unnaturally calm expression on his face.

He turned to look at Elder Wang, his lips parting as he spoke. "Tell me, is there anything worth paying attention to among this batch?"

Elder Wang clasped his hands courteously. "After today’s evaluation, I have confirmed that there are four youngsters with six-ci-aptitude among this batch. Except for one of them, they’re all in the Advanced Stage already."

"Oh?" The Sect Master was intrigued. "Age range?"

Elder Wang answered respectfully. "Two are thirteen, another is twelve, while the last one is merely eleven."

"Eleven..." The Sect Master’s brows creased. "Is he the one still in the Beginner Stage?"

Elder Wang shook his head. "He is also in the Advanced Stage."

"Eh?" The Sect Master’s eyes widened subtly. "This is really surprising. No wonder they were confident in sending him here."

He smiled and turned to the man.

"Have you made research about his origins?"

The Sect Elder shook his head. "I’ve sent a disciple to make a research, but I haven’t received any information yet."

The young boy nodded. "Hm, alright. It might be a bit interesting observing these kids tomorrow."
