Plunder-Chapter 199 Marrying You Is Wonderful
While they were halfway through, Qiao En began to feel physically exhausted, and Zhou Jin’an, with a pang of heartache for her, decided to call it quits.
"Rest for a while, we can continue afterwards," he said.
Qiao En rested on Zhou Jin’an’s chest, her little face red and sweaty.
"No need, you’re too tired. Lean on me and sleep for a bit, and when you wake up we’ll have arrived at Yun Mountain."
He gently patted her shoulder and back, intending to lull her to sleep.
He felt sorry for Qiao En, and she felt sorry for him in return.
"It must be uncomfortable for you this way, do you want me to take over..." she didn’t finish her sentence, but her slender hand had already reached towards a certain place.
Zhou Jin’an took hold of her hand and pressed it to his lips for a kiss.
"There will be plenty of time in the future, and love is a lingering stream. I’m in no rush. Behave, I’m sleepy too; let’s sleep together for a while," Zhou said.
He tightened his arm around Qiao En’s hand.
Worried that she would keep considering his feelings, he deliberately closed his eyes.
The car smoothly traveled along the asphalt road, with Qiao En leaning in Zhou Jin’an’s embrace.
She could hear the man’s powerful heartbeat near her ear, while outside the window, the countryside fields stretched far into the distance.
The chaos of the city was far away, and her heart gradually began to relax.
Birds long for their old woods and fish for their old deeps.
These lines of poetry suddenly popped into Qiao En’s head.
She lifted her chin to glance at Zhou Jin’an who was squinting with one eye open and one eye shut, sneakily peeping at her.
"Are you pretending to be asleep?" Qiao En exposed Zhou Jin’an’s pretense as if she had made a new discovery.
However, he quickly feigned ignorance, covering Qiao En’s eyes with his hand, "I’m very sleepy, and now you really want to sleep too. Be good, I’ll count to three, and you will fall asleep. We can continue our battle for three hundred rounds in our dreams."
Qiao En couldn’t help but laugh.
"Can you handle it?" she asked.
"Don’t you know if I can handle it?" Zhou Jin’an’s handsome face drew near, a hint of mischief flashing in his eyes.
Without the burden of his serious persona, he radiated the vivid energy of a man.
Qiao En really liked Zhou Jin’an this way.
"I know, I know, I’m scared, I surrender, okay?" she said.
Scenes with countless mosaics flashed in Qiao En’s mind.
For instance, just earlier, she was nervous and scared, but Zhou Jin’an expertly used the speed of the car to take her to the summit over and over again.
Reflecting on this perilous yet thrilling experience, she found it wildly pleasurable.
"Good girl, close your eyes. When we get to Yun Mountain, I will wake you up first thing," he said.
He left a kiss on Qiao En’s forehead.
That kiss, as if by magic, brought sleepiness upon her all at once.
Soon, Qiao En fell asleep in Zhou Jin’an’s arms.
Her brows were relaxed, a slight smile on her lips, as she slept very sweetly.
As the car was about to arrive at Yun Mountain, Cheng Lu made a phone call.
Zhou Jin’an, not wanting to wake up Qiao En, decisively hung up.
"Director Zhou, the van driver has been found," Cheng Lu sent a message.
Zhou Jin’an’s brow furrowed immediately, his fingers gripping the phone tensed up with veins standing out.
"Did he confess?" Zhou Jin’an asked after a few seconds in a text message.
"He did. He said someone paid him to tamper with the van, leading to its plunge off the cliff due to a collision with a motorcycle, and the person who rode the motorcycle was the employer who gave him the money," the reply came.
"Who is it?" Zhou Jin’an responded.
"The person is cautious, communicating with the van driver through WeChat, and nobody has seen his true face. However, according to the driver, this person recently contacted him again, asking him to surrender to the police and take the blame for the attempted murder," came the answer.
"Did he go?" Zhou Jin’an continued to inquire.
Just as he intensified the investigation, the other party seemed to get wind of it, concerned that Zhou Jin’an might trace it back to him, and so they pushed the driver forward as a scapegoat.
It appeared that the person knew Zhou Jin’an’s moves very well.
"He went, but had second thoughts at the doorstep of the police station. Coincidentally, our people were staked out there, spotted him immediately, and brought him back," the text detailed.
"Director Zhou, what should we do now?" Cheng Lu asked.
Zhou Jin’an’s gaze fell outside the car window; the scenery was beautiful, but it flashed by. He looked down at Qiao En and said sternly, "Keep investigating, we must find that person."
The car arrived at Yun Mountain by eight in the evening.
Outside it had become dark, and the Maybach came to a stop on the hotel’s parking apron.
Qiao En had slept exceptionally deeply, not waking up at all during the journey.
"Director Zhou, the check-in procedure is complete. You and the young madam can check in now," the message came.
The driver reported to Zhou Jin’an in a low voice.
With a wave of his hand, he motioned for them to leave.
In the sealed carriage, there was not a hint of light.
Qiao En, resting on Zhou Jin’an’s arm, was oblivious to the fact that they had arrived.
He couldn’t bear to wake her, wanting to let her sleep a little longer in his arms.
Later, Qiao En suddenly awoke.
"Are we here?"
She sat up from Zhou Jin’an’s embrace and rolled down the window to take a look outside.
Yun Mountain is a tourist city, famous for its natural scenery.
The hotel Zhou Jin’an had chosen belonged to the Yun Mountain Leisure Resort.
To give Qiao En a comfortable and relaxing place, he had booked the entire resort.
"Yes, we just arrived."
Zhou Jin’an spoke gently.
"Why didn’t you wake me? You must be starved."
Qiao En glanced at the time; it was almost nine o’clock.
Zhou Jin’an’s stomach wasn’t good; he needed to eat on a regular schedule.
"Let’s get out of the car and grab something to eat."
Qiao En opened the door and got out, but Zhou Jin’an didn’t move.
"What’s the matter?"
"Leg’s asleep, just give me a moment." 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
Qiao En’s body had been pressing on his leg, sleeping for over five hours; his leg had gone numb long ago, but he had stayed in the same position, motionless, so as not to wake Qiao En.
"Why didn’t you wake me up?"
Qiao En moved forward, distressed, and helped Zhou Jin’an.
"It’s my fault, I slept too much."
Relying on his larger stature, Zhou Jin’an fondly ruffled Qiao En’s head with his large hand.
"Silly girl, women need more sleep to be beautiful. You’re my wife; you can sleep as long as you want."
The couple walked hand in hand into the resort.
"It’s so quiet here. Why isn’t there anyone around?"
The resort was grand and elegantly decorated; as Qiao En walked further in, the staff greeted them.
But she didn’t see a single tourist.
"Maybe it’s the off-season for tourism."
Zhou Jin’an made up a reason on the spot.
The resort’s accommodation charges were expensive, and since Zhou Jin’an had opted for full booking, he was worried that Qiao En would be distressed about the extra money spent.
Qiao En had overslept and was a bit groggy.
"I remember winter is the off-season here, it should be the peak season now, could I have remembered wrong?"
"Yes, you did remember wrong."
Zhou Jin’an immediately provided "confirmation."
The two were famished; they didn’t return to their room but went straight to the resort’s restaurant to eat.
The meal had been prepared half an hour before their arrival at the resort.
As they sat down, a waiter immediately served the dishes.
Each dish was both exquisite and delicious.
Qiao En took a spoon and ladled a bowl of sea cucumber and duck soup for Zhou Jin’an.
"Your stomach isn’t good; have some soup first."
She still put him first, just as she always had.
Zhou Jin’an’s heart suddenly warmed again.
In the past, she was his secretary, taking care of him meticulously, which was her duty; he wouldn’t overthink it and took it for granted.
But now it was different; she was his wife, the person he was to cherish for a lifetime, and he couldn’t bear to see her toiling for him.
"Don’t always think of me; I’m a man, not that fragile. And you are a woman who should be taken care of by me."
He insisted on pushing the bowl of soup in front of Qiao En, wanting her to drink first.
Qiao En didn’t refuse further; she picked up the bowl and took a sip. The soup itself wasn’t sweet, but her heart felt as though it had tasted honey.
"It’s so good to be married to you!"
Qiao En expressed her feelings sincerely.
Zhou Jin’an was tall, handsome, wealthy, capable, faithful, and adored her.
Qiao En felt that she must have saved the entire galaxy in her past life; otherwise, how could she have met such a good man like Zhou Jin’an?
But to Zhou Jin’an, Qiao En’s exclamation was the greatest affirmation.
He took Qiao En’s small hand and kissed it at the lips again.
"Having you as my wife is my honor!"
