Plunder-Chapter 241: Big Brother’s Bodyguard
Qiao En turned her head aside.
Ding Hao reeked of alcohol, and she didn’t want to argue with a drunkard.
"I’m going back to the office now, if there’s anything else, we can talk when you’re sober."
She bent down, trying to get around Ding Hao’s arm, but he moved and grabbed Qiao En by the neck.
"Don’t move, otherwise, I don’t know what I might do."
He said menacingly.
Qiao En looked up and gazed at Ding Hao coldly.
A hint of fierceness flashed in his eyes.
"This place is crowded, why don’t we find a spot to sit down and talk properly?"
Qiao En didn’t want to anger Ding Hao, but at the same time, she needed to protect herself.
However, Ding Hao didn’t respond.
"Let’s talk here, what are you afraid of?"
"Can you let go? I’m really uncomfortable."
Throughout, Qiao En was neither servile nor overbearing, neither startled nor afraid, she calmly looked at Ding Hao and spoke to him kindly.
He let go of his hand.
"If you had really married me back then, I would have made you the happiest woman in Rong City, but, Qiao En, you’re too despicable. You would rather kneel and grovel at Zhou Jin’an’s feet than be the wealthy wife of the Ding Family. Look at yourself now—"
Ding Hao spread his hands and started to mock Qiao En mercilessly.
She remained silent, not retorting nor responding.
"Not talking? Have you become mute?" he pressured her aggressively.
She gently closed her eyes and simply used the stack of documents to shield her stomach.
Enduring the storm for the sake of the child inside her, Qiao En could choose to endure.
"I don’t know what to say; you speak, I’m listening."
Qiao En whispered.
"Very well, very well!"
Ding Hao staggered back, shaking his fingers at Qiao En.
"A woman like you doesn’t deserve my love. How could I ever fall for a shameless woman like you? No figure, no looks, I was blind back then, pitying you, hahaha, do you think I was serious? I’d never be serious about you, you’re nothing but an old shoe, do you know what an old shoe is?"
He approached her again, insulting Qiao En with malicious words.
Just then, Zhou Chucheng came out of the office.
Seeing Ding Hao harassing Qiao En, he didn’t think twice; he rushed over, grabbed Ding Hao’s collar, and started throwing punches.
"Are you okay?"
As he beat Ding Hao, he looked up to ask Qiao En.
She shook her head, "I’m fine."
But her little face was still pale.
"Head back to the office, leave this to me."
He declared.
Qiao En walked towards the elevator.
Zhou Chucheng wasn’t good at fighting, but he was at his most forceful at this moment.
"Bullying a woman, what kind of man are you?"
He straddled Ding Hao, slapping his face haphazardly.
His face was already swollen like a pig’s head, and now it looked like a stewed pig’s head from the hitting.
Ding Hao usually had decent fighting skills, but he was still drunk, and Zhou Chucheng struck first, leaving him little chance to fight back.
Only when he had beaten Ding Hao to the point where he couldn’t move did Zhou Chucheng stop.
"Get lost, and don’t let me see you again, or it will be a fight every time I do."
He stood up and kicked Ding Hao hard in the lower back.
Ding Hao lay on his back on the ground, his mouth split open in a derisive laugh.
"Do you think you can still beat me? Zhou Chucheng, you like Zhou Jin’an’s girl too, do you think you’re better than me?"
Zhou Chucheng had turned to leave, but hearing this, he came back and gave Ding Hao another beating.
This time, Ding Hao was only left gasping for air.
"You might as well kill me!"
He murmured weakly.
Zhou Chucheng’s eyes darkened, "Wishful thinking, letting you die would be letting you off too easily. A person like you doesn’t deserve for me to dirty my hands."
He pulled out his phone and called Zhou Jin’an directly.
"Big brother, do you know anyone in the underworld?"
Zhou Jin’an had just come out of a meeting, looking surprised, "What’s up?"
"Ding Hao humiliated my sister-in-law. I’ve beaten him up, but it’s not satisfying. I want to make his life a misery."
"When did this happen?"
Zhou Jin’an was shocked, his mind racing as he tossed the documents in his hand to his secretary and already walking toward the elevator.
Qiao En being humiliated was an extremely serious matter.
"Just now, but don’t worry, my sister-in-law is fine. I’ve already taught him a lesson for you."
"You don’t need to do it for me, I can handle it myself."
Fury swirled in Zhou Jin’an’s chest as he didn’t delay a minute and drove straight here.
By the time he arrived, Ding Hao was leaning against the wall, gasping for breath.
Zhou Jin’an rushed over, grabbed him by the collar, "Are you looking for death?"
Ding Hao’s eyes were so swollen that they had squeezed into slits, "If you have the guts, let me die then!"
Zhou Jin’an’s large hand suddenly clenched around Ding Hao’s throat.
His eyes widened, and his face turned red with strain.
When Zhou Chucheng saw this, he hurriedly stepped forward to stop Zhou Jin’an.
"Big brother, this kind of person isn’t worth dirtying your hands for. For your wife, for my little nephew, don’t stoop to his level."
If it weren’t for the thought of Qiao En, if it weren’t for the thought of their unborn child, Zhou Jin’an would have taken Ding Hao’s life.
He released his grip, but the fury in his eyes didn’t subside at all.
"Director Huang, come over and take someone."
Zhou Jin’an calmly made a call to Director Huang.
Suddenly, Director Huang arrived in a police car, bringing two policemen with him.
"Director Zhou, is this the man?"
Director Huang gave a signal, and the two policemen stepped forward and dragged Ding Hao towards the police car.
"What are you doing? I haven’t broken the law, let me go——"
Ding Hao struggled.
Director Huang just glanced at him indifferently, "We’ll find out whether you’ve broken the law or not after an investigation."
He nodded to Zhou Jin’an, "I’ll take him away for now. Contact me later if you need anything."
The police car left with sirens wailing.
"Where is she?"
Zhou Jin’an asked as he walked toward the elevator.
"The sister-in-law went back to the company."
Zhou Jin’an shot Zhou Chucheng a cold glance, "If anything happens to her, you just wait and see."
When a city gate catches fire, the disaster spreads to the fish in the moat; Zhou Chucheng had intervened and taught Ding Hao a lesson, but he was also implicated.
He was innocent, but dared not complain at this moment.
Upon reaching the company, Zhou Jin’an cared no more; he strode straight inside.
Zhou Chucheng carefully followed behind him.
Under everyone’s gaze, Zhou Jin’an entered Qiao En’s office.
Meanwhile, Zhou Chucheng dared not leave, and stood waiting outside Qiao En’s office door.
"Why are you here?"
Just as Qiao En had finished organizing a stack of files, the door was pushed open, and Zhou Jin’an walked toward her.
He walked up to her, grabbed her arms, and meticulously checked her from head to toe.
"Did he do anything to you?"
Seeing Zhou Jin’an’s overreaction, Qiao En immediately stopped him.
"Don’t worry, I’m fine; your wife isn’t that fragile."
But he was still anxious, "No, I’m taking you to the hospital for a thorough check-up, we have to ensure the safety of you and the child."
"I’m really fine, the child is fine too."
"Really?"
Zhou Jin’an’s heart was still in his throat; if it weren’t for Qiao En and the child, he would have killed Ding Hao at that moment.
"We should thank little Director Zhou today; he showed up just in time to help me."
Qiao En spoke up for Zhou Chucheng.
But Zhou Jin’an responded with a cold face, "That’s his duty, no need for thanks."
Outside, Zhou Chucheng heard these words, his heart filled with mixed feelings.
He would go through fire and water for his big brother and stand up for his sister-in-law, but he too longed for a word of comfort and recognition.
"It’s working hours now, you go back first, we’ll talk tonight."
Qiao En pushed Zhou Jin’an to leave.
He glanced at his watch, and in half an hour, he had two more meetings.
"Don’t go anywhere today, just stay in this office. I’ll come to pick you up after the meeting. If anyone dares to bully you, call me directly, and I’ll rush over immediately."
Zhou Jin’an issued his command.
He walked out and immediately saw Zhou Chucheng.
"Big brother, why don’t you come to my office for a cup of tea before you leave?"
He put on a smiling face, trying to dissipate the anger on Zhou Jin’an’s face.
But Zhou Jin’an’s anger had not subsided; he pointed his finger at Zhou Chucheng, "Listen to me, from now on, no one is allowed in her office. Wherever she goes, you follow. If anything goes wrong with her, I will take your life!"
Zhou Chucheng felt the bitterness in his heart; was his big brother treating him like a bodyguard?
However, he didn’t complain; he agreed right away.
"Don’t worry, big brother, I guarantee I’ll complete the task."
Zhou Jin’an left, but Zhou Chucheng took his words seriously.
He assigned two security guards to stand outside Qiao En’s office, and he moved his workstation to the spot closest to Qiao En’s office.
