Plunder-Chapter 288 Ding Yongsheng
Auntie Jiang finally left Zheng Gang’s hospital room with a belly full of disappointment.
"Yayun, just pretend you don’t have a father, pretend he’s dead."
She said angrily to Qiao En.
"Mom, give him some time."
Qiao En persuaded.
However, not long after Auntie Jiang left, Zheng Gang had a change of heart.
"I want to see Zhou Jin’an."
He said to the staff.
Receiving the call, Zhou Jin’an put down his work and hurried to the hospital.
Entering the room, he pulled over a chair and sat down not far from Zheng Gang’s bed.
"Speak."
His tone was indifferent, cold.
But Zheng Gang didn’t open his mouth, just stared straight at Zhou Jin’an.
The little boy from back then had grown into a big man.
And now, this big man had actually married his daughter.
"Will you always be good to my daughter?"
Zheng Gang finally asked.
Zhou Jin’an deepened his gaze, "I will love her more than my own life."
Zheng Gang nodded slightly, satisfied with the answer.
"You should know that your parents divorced because of me. Your mother must hate me to the core, and you too. I believe you will treat her well, but what about your mother? If she finds out about this relationship, how will she treat my daughter?"
Zheng Gang asked again.
Zhou Jin’an let out a sigh of relief, leaned back in the chair, and assumed a relaxed posture.
"You needn’t worry about these things, I’m a man, and it’s my duty and obligation to protect my woman. I won’t let anyone harm my wife and child, including my mother."
With Zhou Jin’an’s promise, Zheng Gang’s concerns seemed to be eased a lot.
"I hope you remember what you said today."
Zhou Jin’an was silent; he was waiting for Zheng Gang to speak.
After a moment, Zheng Gang finally decided to confess.
"Twenty-seven years ago, I eloped with Caiyun to Rong City, she became pregnant, and we decided to have the baby. But to our surprise, it turned out to be twins. We were overjoyed, and I wanted to legitimize the relationship for her and our daughters."
"So, I wrote a letter home to inform them, but my father was enraged and died on the spot when he found out. Caiyun and I discussed it and decided to entrust the babies to a family named Qiao, while she accompanied me back home for the funeral. When we returned to Rong City, though, something had gone wrong with the children."
"They said both kids died from a fever due to illness. Caiyun was heartbroken and fell ill. I didn’t believe such a coincidence could happen in this world, so I decided to search for the children."
"One time, I passed out and was saved by a kind person. He heard my story and decided to help me. He gave me a large sum of money and said he could arrange for me to work as a chauffeur at Zhou Residence. He kept his word, and Director Zhou paid me a generous salary, which I was pleased with. But this kind person asked me to do something for him."
Zheng Gang reached this point, and Zhou Jin’an had understood everything.
He was curious about who exactly that so-called kind person was, but he did not rush to interrupt Zheng Gang’s narrative.
"He said, as long as I cuckolded Old Zhou, I would get a large amount of money. And with that money, I could find my daughters and live well with Caiyun."
"I was tempted at the time and did as he said. Sure enough, Old Zhou exploded in anger when he found out and fired me. The man then asked me to frame Mrs. Zhou, saying that she and I had an affair. Because of that accusation, Old Zhou drove Mrs. Zhou out of the Zhou Residence."
"I originally thought he would keep his promise, but unexpectedly, he had men break my legs and render me impotent. After doing all this, he still wanted to frame Old Zhou, but what he didn’t know was that I hadn’t drunk all of the wine."
"Afterwards, he dumped me in Hongyan Village and gave Wang Chen and Feng Hu a sum of money. I was essentially put under house arrest in that small village, completely isolated from the world, with no way out."
Zheng Gang finished speaking and took a long breath.
"I’m sorry. I know it’s too late for anything I say now, but I really am the main culprit. I have wronged Old Zhou, Mrs. Zhou, you, and my own family."
He said to himself.
"Who is that man?"
Zhou Jin’an asked directly.
Someone had schemed such an elaborate plot for the sole purpose of setting the Zhou family ablaze.
The move was both vicious and ruthless.
At this point, all he wanted to know was where the cancer lay.
"His surname is Ding, all I know is that everyone calls him Director Ding."
Zheng Gang said.
"Ding Yongsheng?"
Zhou Jin’an blurted out, and Zheng Gang looked at him despondently.
"I really don’t know his name. Some time ago, he sent someone to convey a message to me, saying if I dared to reveal the truth, he would take the lives of my family. My mother is still in my hometown, I fear him..."
Zheng Gang didn’t finish his sentence.
"Your mother died ten years ago."
Zhou Jin’an said with an expressionless face.
He didn’t look at Zheng Gang again and quickly rose to leave the room.
As he came out of the hospital room, an aura of deadly intent enveloped him.
"Director Zhou, are we going back to the company?"
The driver caught up with his pace and asked.
"To the Ding Family."
Zhou Jin’an’s voice was cold.
Half an hour later, the Maybach appeared outside the gates of the Ding Residence.
It was dinner time, and the Ding family was gathered around the dining table.
When the butler went to announce him, Old Master Ding’s authoritative face grew cold.
"What is he here for?"
Ding Ruyi asked curiously.
Ding Ruxin nudged her with an elbow, signaling her to keep quiet.
Mrs. Ding glanced at Old Master Ding and said to the servant, "Please let Director Zhou in."
She stood up to make tea herself.
Just as the tea was ready, Zhou Jin’an entered the room.
The servants had prepared slippers and placed them at the entrance, but Zhou Jin’an didn’t give them a single look and walked straight in.
"Director Zhou, have a cup of tea. Have you had dinner? I’ll ask Mama Zhang to prepare a few more dishes. Why don’t you sit down and join us?"
Mrs. Ding spoke to Zhou Jin’an with a smile.
However, his gaze never lingered on Mrs. Ding’s face for even a second.
"How rude. My mom is talking to you. As a younger person, shouldn’t you at least respond?"
Ding Ruyi murmured another comment.
"Shall we talk in the study or here?"
Zhou Jin’an said in a muted voice.
He was speaking to Ding Yongsheng. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
Old Master Ding’s face looked extremely unpleasant. Zhou Jin’an’s visit meant that things had been exposed.
"To the study."
He made his choice.
Standing up, he stooped his back and walked towards the study.
"Director Zhou, what’s this about?"
Mrs. Ding asked curiously.
Zhou Jin’an still didn’t utter a word.
He followed Old Master Ding to the study. As soon as the door closed behind them, he stepped forward and grabbed Ding Yongsheng by the throat.
"Why did you do that?"
Rage blazed in Zhou Jin’an’s eyes. In this moment, he no longer wished to hide his emotions.
The villain before him had shattered his family, and he now loathed him to the bone.
Ding Yongsheng’s eyes were as calm as still water. He exhaled softly and said, "What was inevitable has come. If you wish, take my life."
He closed his eyes, presenting himself like a lamb to the slaughter.
Zhou Jin’an’s fingers started to tighten slowly.
He truly wanted to take Ding Yongsheng’s life.
But would it not be letting him off too easily to just take his life like that?
"You want to die, but it won’t be that easy. No matter your reasons, I have no intention of forgiving you, and moreover, I’ve prepared for blood to be repaid with blood."
Each word seemed to be squeezed out between clenched teeth.
Ding Yongsheng maintained his silence.
Their eyes met, and Zhou Jin’an’s were filled with nothing but hatred.
"As you wish."
Ding Yongsheng said indifferently.
Zhou Jin’an couldn’t contain his fury any longer. He grabbed Ding Yongsheng by the collar with one hand and swung his fist with the other, smashing it into the old man’s face.
A muffled thud had just sounded when the door to the study was pushed open.
"Director Zhou, I beg you, please spare my father. He’s almost seventy, with a bad heart; he can’t withstand this..."
"Shut up!"
Zhou Jin’an shouted angrily.
