Plunder-Chapter 310: Facilitation
Cheng Lu sat upright on the living room sofa, every cell in his body radiating tension.
He had a criminal record, a fact that could not be changed.
When he decided to be with Lin Youyou, he had cared about this part of his past.
But Lin Youyou’s persistence made him selfish for once.
Now, he suddenly realized he had been reckless.
As he was nervously drumming up courage in his mind, the bedroom door opened again, and Jia Xianzhen stormed up to Cheng Lu, furious.
"I do not approve of your marriage with my daughter. You should leave."
Jia Xianzhen said angrily.
"Mom, please don’t be like this, Lu bro really isn’t a bad person,"
Lin Youyou was extremely anxious; she wanted to explain for Cheng Lu.
Cheng Lu stood there uncomfortably, his sincerity unable to move Jia Xianzhen.
"Mom, things are not as you think,"
Yet he couldn’t fully explain the situation to Jia Xianzhen.
"Don’t call me mom, I’m not your mom."
Jia Xianzhen had no patience to listen to his explanation; she grabbed Cheng Lu’s arm and forcefully pushed him towards the door.
"Youyou is my daughter, and failing to discipline her properly is my responsibility. From now on, please leave my home and never come near my daughter again."
"Mom—"
Mrs. Jia pushed Cheng Lu while Lin Youyou clung to her.
Just then, the baby woke up and suddenly started crying.
One cried, and the other followed.
Sister Rong was frantically trying to care for them, but she couldn’t soothe them.
The room suddenly turned into a complete mess.
"Youyou, don’t cry, I’ll leave first."
Cheng Lu turned around, saw Lin Youyou’s tear-streaked face, and suddenly felt a deep pang of heartache.
He forced a smile, trying to reassure Lin Youyou.
But he still underestimated Lin Youyou’s determination.
"Mom, if you won’t let Lu bro come in, then I’m leaving too,"
She said, and with a plop, knelt down before Mrs. Jia, bowed her head, grabbed Cheng Lu’s hand, and walked towards the door.
"Youyou—"
Mrs. Jia was stunned; she had not expected her gentle and weak daughter to be so firm with her over a man.
"Youyou, don’t do this,"
Cheng Lu was deeply moved, but he couldn’t be selfish anymore.
"Stay with mom for a while, once she calms down a bit, I’ll come back to pick you up,"
"Be good, listen to me."
He squeezed out a smile, a hint of relief on his lips.
But Lin Youyou’s attitude was fiercely resolute, "Lu bro, we promised to be together for a lifetime, have you forgotten the vows you made when you proposed?"
Cheng Lu was momentarily at a loss for words.
"If you have regrets, just tell me; if you just don’t want to see me suffer, then hold my hand, and we’ll walk the road ahead together. Being with you, I am very happy."
Lin Youyou sobbed uncontrollably.
Cheng Lu’s eyes also reddened, and he forcefully embraced Lin Youyou in his arms.
"Let’s go, we’re leaving,"
He choked up, unable to speak.
He tightly hugged Lin Youyou, then kissed her forehead, turned around to pick up the children, and strode towards the door.
"You guys... you guys..."
Mrs. Jia was both angry and anxious, but she couldn’t stop any of them.
Lin Youyou was determined to leave, and by now, Cheng Lu had turned into a fierce protector of his wife.
On the way back to Rong City, the two of them held hands tightly together.
This ordeal, originally unknown to anyone,
But the next day when Cheng Lu picked up Zhou Jin’an for work, Zhou Jin’an, who was usually not one to gossip, suddenly showed interest in his happy life.
"Have you set a date for the wedding?"
Zhou Jin’an asked casually while looking at the documents.
Cheng Lu’s face instantly darkened. Since Mrs. Jia did not approve, the wedding wouldn’t mean much, so last night, he discussed with Lin Youyou about getting their marriage license first and waiting until Mrs. Jia agreed before having a ceremony.
After all, a marriage only made sense if it received the elder’s blessings.
"Not yet."
Cheng Lu replied indifferently.
Zhou Jin’an looked up, surprised, and glanced at Cheng Lu.
That glance revealed the long-absent dark circles under Cheng Lu’s eyes, and beneath those dark circles lurked his irritation and dejection.
"Not going smoothly?"
He asked again, but this time, Cheng Lu didn’t respond.
All day, Cheng Lu’s mood remained low.
Men’s emotions are different from women’s; even in depression, they only hide it within their hearts.
He didn’t speak, and Zhou Jin’an naturally didn’t ask further.
However, during dinner, Qiao En brought up the topic of Cheng Lu’s wedding.
"Cheng’s assistant and Youyou’s wedding plus the child’s one-month celebration. It’s a double celebration. Are you free tomorrow? Come with me to pick some gifts."
She suggested.
Zhou Jin’an was drinking soup, he paused with deep eyes, "Let’s pick another day, the wedding hasn’t been scheduled yet."
Qiao En, being perceptive, immediately sensed something was off.
"Youyou’s parents don’t agree?"
Zhou Jin’an shook his head, "That blockhead Cheng Lu wouldn’t say, and I didn’t want to pry further, but it’s probably something like that."
Qiao En pondered for a moment, "I’ll go talk to Youyou tomorrow."
Qiao En sent Lin Youyou a message in advance and arrived when Lin Youyou was frantically busy at home.
"Sorry, Young Madam, to have you see this mess."
Lin Youyou’s eyes were also red.
Qiao En nodded slightly, "It’s alright, you carry on."
But just as she sat down, Lin Youyou’s phone rang.
She grabbed her phone, glanced at the screen, and her entire demeanor seemed to plummet. Clutching her phone, she hurried to the balcony.
From a distance, Qiao En couldn’t hear what Lin Youyou said.
But from her angle, she could clearly see Lin Youyou’s expression.
She seemed to be arguing with someone, her emotions noticeably intense, and later, she even cried.
Worried, Qiao En walked towards the balcony.
"This is my business, it doesn’t concern you. Whether you accept him or not doesn’t matter; he is the one I’ve chosen, and I won’t give up."
Although just a few simple sentences, Qiao En understood the implications.
"Youyou, are you alright?"
Qiao En gently knocked on the balcony door and spoke to her.
Lin Youyou wiped the tears from her cheeks, shook her head, and then said a few more words before hanging up the call.
After ending the call, her emotions completely overwhelmed her, and she crouched down, embracing her knees and sobbed loudly.
Qiao En slid open the glass door and walked out, crouching beside Lin Youyou, gently patting her back.
"You’ve had it tough."
Qiao En soothed her.
"Why? Why can’t they just accept Cheng? Ever since I was young, whatever I do is wrong, everything must be done their way. If I can’t even make my own decisions, what’s the point of living?"
Lin Youyou cried out in frustration.
Her pent-up emotions needing an outlet, Qiao En simply listened silently as she vented.
"Youyou, I really understand you. Now that you’re an adult, you can make your own decisions and pursue the happiness you desire. Your parents’ opinions are indeed important, but your own feelings are even more so."
Lin Youyou cried and nodded, "But it still hurts so much inside. They’re my parents; why can’t they respect me? Cheng wants to give me a wedding, but I want to give my parents an explanation. Why must they pressure me every step of the way?"
Qiao En couldn’t solve Lin Youyou’s dilemma, so she just silently stayed beside her.
Late, she dried her tears and stood up, "Young Madam, please don’t let Cheng know about today’s events. I don’t want him to worry."
Qiao En nodded firmly, "Don’t worry, I won’t tell."
What Lin Youyou didn’t know was that the nanny had already sent a message informing Cheng Lu about the altercation with her parents.
When he heard that Lin Youyou had argued with her parents again because of him, Cheng Lu was extremely distressed.
He completely understood the feelings of Lin Youyou’s parents.
Therefore, he made a bold decision.
