Chapter 314: Chapter 314 Two Conditions

That day, Cheng Lu had left early in the morning.

With the maternity nurse, Sister Chen, taking care of Beibei and Gege, Lin Youyou got some free time and did some yoga for a while.

Qiao En called to invite her for lunch, and Lin Youyou readily agreed.

"Sister Chen, please tidy up. We’ll be heading to Chu Garden later."

Sister Chen complied and began packing up, while Lin Youyou took a bath and was sitting in front of the dressing table getting ready.

Just then, her phone rang.

It was Mrs. Jia who was calling.

Lin Youyou’s mood instantly plummeted. Ever since she was resolved to marry Cheng Lu, her relationship with her parents had broken down.

Mrs. Jia called every day to scold her, and Lin Youyou was already fed up.

So, she didn’t answer that call.

She refused to answer Mrs. Jia’s calls, but Mrs. Jia didn’t give up and kept redialing, over and over.

Eventually, Lin Youyou’s patience wore thin.

"Mom, if you are calling to persuade me to break up with Lu, please don’t bother."

However, what came from the other end of the phone was Mrs. Jia’s crying.

"Youyou, come to the hospital quickly, your father suddenly fainted."

"What? Mom, don’t panic, I’m on my way to the hospital right now."

Lin Youyou suddenly got flustered.

Her parents had always been robust, but she had been at such severe odds with her family recently that her father, Lin Bohan, was indeed overwhelmed with anger.

"Just come by yourself, don’t bring that person. If your father sees him, I’m afraid his illness will only get worse."

After hanging up the phone, Lin Youyou quickly changed into another set of clothes and headed out.

"Madam, are you leaving now?"

Sister Chen peeked out and asked.

"Sister Chen, we’re not going out today. There’s something happening on my mother’s side, and I have to leave now. Please help me look after Beibei and Gege."

Lin Youyou was anxious, and as soon as she left the house, she ran toward the entrance of the complex, barely managing to hail a taxi, and then hurried to the hospital.

However, not even ten minutes after she left the house, Mrs. Jia suddenly appeared at her doorstep.

Hearing the knock, Sister Chen hurried to open the door, only to find Mrs. Jia standing outside.

"Quickly pack up and bring the two children to the hospital. Your father, Youyou’s father, is not doing very well."

Mrs. Jia urged her.

Sister Chen, upon hearing this, quickly packed up. Mrs. Jia picked up Beibei, Sister Chen held Gege, and the two of them swiftly left the house.

Downstairs, the car called by Mrs. Jia was waiting.

"Give me the children."

Mrs. Jia got into the car first, and just as Sister Chen was about to follow, Mrs. Jia reached out her hand to her.

"You can’t take care of two children alone. I should come with you, an extra person is an extra pair of hands."

Sister Chen said.

Mrs. Jia gave her a sideways glance, "You’ll only add to the chaos if you come now. Give them to me, and go home to make some chicken soup. Bring it to the hospital at lunchtime."

After Mrs. Jia had made the arrangements, Sister Chen didn’t object.

She handed over the children to Mrs. Jia and hurried back home.

Lin Youyou arrived at the hospital by taxi, dialing Mrs. Jia’s number, but nobody answered the call.

She then called Lin Bohan, but her father’s phone was also not answering.

"Nurse, is there a patient here by the name of Lin Bohan?"

Lin Youyou quickly approached the front desk to ask. The nurse immediately checked the emergency list and shook her head, "Sorry, there’s no one by that name."

"Could you please check carefully again? He’s my father. Half an hour ago, my mom called me and he was supposed to be sent to this hospital."

The nurse, following her request, checked again carefully.

"There’s really no such person."

At this point, Lin Youyou was confused.

She kept calling Jia Xianzhen and Lin Bohan while running towards the outpatient building.

There was no record of Lin Bohan in the outpatient services, and she hurriedly made her way to the inpatient department.

Sister Chen finished making the chicken soup and, carrying the thermos, went to the hospital.

"Madam, the chicken soup is ready, I’ve already delivered it to the hospital. Where are you?"

When Lin Youyou received Sister Chen’s call, her mind was still in a haze.

"What chicken soup?"

"The chicken soup your mother told me to make. She said once it’s ready, to deliver it to the hospital. I’m here now, but I don’t know where you all are?"

Lin Youyou’s mind buzzed, "When did I ask you to make chicken soup?"

Sister Chen quickly explained, "Not long after you left, your mother came to the house. She said your father wanted to see the children and took them away, telling me to make soup and deliver it to the hospital."

As soon as Sister Chen finished speaking, Lin Youyou suddenly realized something was wrong.

"What did you say? She took the children away?"

"Yes, I was going to go with them, but she insisted that I didn’t need to and made me stay to make soup."

Hearing this, Lin Youyou understood everything all at once.

"Sister Chen, how could you let her take the children away?"

She slammed down the phone with a "snap".

Next, she frantically called Mrs. Jia again, but Mrs. Jia’s phone was turned off.

Lin Youyou panicked and sat down on the ground, sobbing uncontrollably.

"Madam, why are you sitting on the ground?"

When Sister Chen heard the crying, she came looking and grabbed Lin Youyou’s arm, trying to pull her off the ground.

"Sister Chen, you shouldn’t have let her take the children away."

Lin Youyou was late in realization, and only now did she understand that her mother had lied—it was all a ruse. At the moment, she was so frantic that she didn’t see it coming.

"What... what should we do now? Madam, it’s all my fault, I deserve to die, I thought since she’s your mother, and she said that your father was unwell and wanted to see the children, I didn’t think any more about it..."

Sister Chen was also distraught.

"Call the police, Madam, we should call the police."

Sister Chen was desperate for a solution, but Lin Youyou stopped her.

They were her own parents—airing dirty laundry in public was not an option. How could she call the police and have them arrest her parents?

But if she didn’t call the police, what was she supposed to do?

Just as Lin Youyou was at a loss, suddenly a strange number called her phone.

Without a second thought, she picked up immediately.

"Youyou."

It was Mrs. Jia’s voice on the other end of the call.

Holding the phone, Lin Youyou tensed up, "Mom, where did you take Beibei and Gege? They are still so young, they can’t be away from me. Mom, please, give me back my children."

Lin Youyou’s tears fell heavily as she spoke, her voice filled with helplessness and pleading.

"Youyou, Mom has no choice. Don’t worry, I will take good care of the kids for you, they won’t be harmed. If you want to see the children, you have to agree to two conditions."

"What conditions?"

Lin Youyou asked urgently.

"First, break up with Cheng Lu immediately; Second, Mom has already arranged a blind date for you, and within a month, you must be married off. If you can do these two things, I can give you the children."

Lin Youyou couldn’t do either of those conditions.

She never imagined that her own parents would stoop so low as to force her away from Cheng Lu using such despicable means.

"Mom, you know I will never agree to that."

"You can choose not to agree, but then you will never see your children again in your lifetime. Think it over, what’s more important—this man who has been in jail or the two children you gave birth to? Youyou, Mom has tried to reason with you, I don’t know how else to make you understand, I have to do this."

"Mom, why do you have to force me like this?"

Lin Youyou burst into tears.

She cried, and Mrs. Jia on the other end of the phone cried too, "Youyou, it’s you who are forcing Mom and Dad. If you marry that man who has been in prison, how can Mom and Dad live with that? Youyou, think about it carefully. When you’re ready, send me a message."

After saying this, Mrs. Jia quickly hung up.

Lin Youyou tried to call back, but the phone again showed that it was turned off.

She didn’t know what to do next and squatted on the ground, sobbing.

But tears wouldn’t solve the problem.

"Madam, why don’t you tell your husband? He will surely find a way."

Lin Youyou shook her head fiercely like a rattle-drum, "No, don’t tell him."

She was currently giving Cheng Lu a cooling-off period; she had promised not to contact him for a week.

Now, the people who had taken her children were her biological parents; surely, the children were safe.

But they were so young, what if something happened to them?

Sister Chen promised Lin Youyou.

"Madam, let’s go home."

She supported Lin Youyou as they left the hospital; they flagged down a taxi on the road and headed home.

Lin Youyou leaned against the seat, as if her soul had been taken away.

Sister Chen glanced over at Lin Youyou several times, seeing nothing but her utter dejection.

Taking advantage of Lin Youyou’s lack of attention, she secretly sent a message to Cheng Lu.

"Sir, the children are missing. Please come back quickly."

Cheng Lu, who was in a meeting with Director Zhou, saw the message and his nerves instantly tightened.

"Director Zhou, I apologize, but I have an emergency at home, and I must leave right now."

The day’s negotiation was crucial, but Director Zhou didn’t say anything further; he nodded, and Cheng Lu rushed off.
