[Author Note: In my setting, there is no such thing as absolute immunity. Ground types have strong resistance against Electric types, but its not zero effectiveness. If the disparity between them is too great, a Thunderbolt could potentially render a Ground type Pokmon unconscious.

This point is similar to how Normal-type or Fighting-type moves cannot hit Ghost-type Pokmon, but under a foresight state, they can hit them, indicating that such immunity isnt absolute, but a combination of factors such as inability to hit and weakened effect
