Pokémon Court-Chapter 526: *Title Hidden*
Chapter 526 - *Title Hidden*
While Professor Kukui was fixing the Pokédex, Ilima took Terrance on a tour of the school and prepared to visit Principal Oak.
"This is Principal Oak's Komala. It's responsible for ringing the school bell..."
"Oh, right! Over there are Pokémon like Tauros, Exeggutor, and Diglett. Want to take a look?"
As Terrance followed Ilima around the school, he once again saw a long-necked Exeggutor. Even though it wasn't his first time seeing one, he still found it hard to get used to.
For Terrance, who had a deep impression of Exeggutor, he felt a tingling sensation on his scalp.
"Terrance, you're a Trainer too, right?"
Ilima suddenly asked.
"Yes," Terrance replied. "Why? Do you want to have a battle?"
"I was thinking about it, actually. After all, I haven't had the chance to battle a Trainer from outside the Alola region yet," Ilima said with a smile.
"Let's battle another day. I'm not really in the right mindset right now," Terrance replied.
"Alright." Ilima nodded.
"I've heard that Trainers from other regions are much stronger than those from Alola. I never really believed it, but since even Professor Kukui says so, I have no choice but to accept it."
Terrance said, "If I remember correctly, Professor Kukui is also a Trainer."
Although Professor Kukui was known as a researcher, Terrance had learned from Master Victor that he was also an outstanding Trainer, quite famous in Alola, and far stronger than most Trainers at the Champion League level.
"Yes, Professor Kukui even participated in the Indigo Plateau in the Kanto region once. But I heard he was defeated by a ridiculously strong Trainer, who wears a cape and specializes in Dragon-type Pokémon," Ilima said.
"Uh..." Terrance glanced at him. From Ilima's expression, he could tell that Ilima knew this Trainer's name but, for some reason, chose not to say it.
"Lance, huh?" Terrance thought to himself. If Professor Kukui had the chance to battle Lance, then he was certainly no ordinary person.
...
"Principal Oak, it's Ilima."
Ilima led Terrance to Samson Oak's room and knocked on the door.
"Oh, it's Ilima? Snorlax~"
After Samson Oak opened the door, he looked at the visitors in surprise, then suddenly made an exaggerated expression.
"Uhh...." Terrance stared at him, watching as his face twisted dramatically in an attempt to mimic Snorlax's expression. His mouth twitched slightly.
"Don't mind it. This is just Principal Oak's style..." Ilima explained helplessly. "Once you get used to it, it's actually quite amusing."
"Principal Oak, hello. I'm Terrance." Terrance let out a sigh of relief and introduced himself.
"Terrance, huh? I know who you are."
"I've already arranged everything you need."
Principal Oak nodded seriously.
"Thank you so much," Terrance said.
Being able to obtain the Island Challenge Amulet like this and qualify for the Island Challenge saved Terrance a lot of trouble.
However, his main goal in seeking the Island Challenge Amulet wasn't to participate in the Island Challenge itself. Rather, he planned to use this qualification to gather information from each Island Kahuna about the locations of most Totem Pokémon in the Alola region, providing direction for his research.
To study "totem aura," interacting with various Totem Pokémon was an essential part of the work.
"No need to thank me. Just have Kukui take you to see Hala. Wobbuffet~~" Principal Oak laughed heartily and once again made a Wobbuffet-like expression.
Terrance: "..."
...
Samson Oak was the cousin of Kanto's Professor Samuel Oak. Their similar facial features made this apparent, though Alola's Principal Oak had a noticeably darker complexion, which was characteristic of people living in the Alola region...
After chatting with Principal Oak for a while, Ilima and Terrance returned to Professor Kukui's place.
"Professor Kukui, how's it going?"
"Oh... you two are back."
At this moment, Professor Kukui was frowning deeply, clearly facing a difficult problem.
"This Rotom... sigh, I've never seen one with this kind of personality before."
"Now it's stubbornly hiding inside the Pokédex, refusing to come out no matter what I say."
Ilima laughed and said, "It must be afraid of you, Professor Kukui."
Terrance then asked, "There must be another way, right?"
"Well, it looks like we'll have to force Rotom back into a Poké Ball." Professor Kukui nodded.
As he spoke, Professor Kukui took out an empty new Poké Ball and gently tapped it against the Pokédex.
Swish!
With a flash of light, the Rotom inside the Pokédex was sucked into the Poké Ball, which flickered with light.
However, after just a couple of flashes, Rotom immediately burst out of the Poké Ball.
"Roto~!!" Rotom glared at Ilima and Professor Kukui with resentment, shouting in dissatisfaction.
"Rotom, don't be angry. Let's talk it out. If you don't like being researched, you don't have to participate in the future." Professor Kukui scratched his head helplessly.
Losing one Rotom wouldn't be a major issue for his research. If this Rotom truly disliked being studied, it wouldn't make much of a difference.
"Roto~?" Rotom was stunned.
Seeing Professor Kukui nod, Rotom's expression brightened with joy.
"Congratulations, Rotom," Terrance said with a smile.
"Roto~~, Roto~~" Rotom twirled in the air, glanced around, and then suddenly darted toward Terrance's Pokédex.
"..." Terrance.
"..." Professor Kukui.
"..." Ilima.
Professor Kukui said, "It looks like Rotom really likes your Pokédex—it sees it as its home now..."
"Uhh..." Terrance was stunned.
Professor Kukui picked up the Pokédex and pressed a few buttons, but the screen remained pitch black, showing no response.
"However, compared to certain specialized appliances, your Pokédex's design doesn't allow Rotom to perfectly possess it."
"Terrance, how about letting it stay with you?"
"Huh? You mean... catch it?" Terrance was surprised and a little hesitant.
"No, I remember you need a lot of data, right?" Professor Kukui said with a proud smile.
"Though I've already prepared it for you, going through everything bit by bit would be a waste of time. So, how about letting this Rotom be your assistant instead?"
"Assistant?" Terrance asked in confusion.
"Have you heard of artificial intelligence?"
"I can tell that Rotom doesn't dislike you. So, give me a day, and I'll modify your Pokédex to make it suitable for Rotom to possess. I'll also upload all the research data I've prepared into it. That way, you'll be able to access everything much more easily."
Of course, Terrance knew about artificial intelligence. But he never expected... Rotom could be used this way?
