Chapter 83: A Surprise For Amaia

(Amaia)

We sat on Alnitak’s bed and conversed for an hour.

"So you like watching old movies for fun, reading books and eating jelly? They are your hobbies," he asks. Amusedly.

His hand plays with my long hair, especially the silver streak in it.

"Old movies are fun. I wish they still made them. For a while, one forgets the seriousness of our lives," I confide in him, and he smiles in agreement.

"And jelly?" He asks wickedly, pressing my hair to his nose and taking a deep whiff.

"It’s a delicacy now. I love the tangy flavour and how it just melts in the mouth."

"The best delicacy is chocolate. Nothing melts like chocolate, especially in your mouth," he leans closer and murmurs into my hair. His breath makes sparks dance around my body like a second skin. "I wonder how it will melt in the warmth between your legs."

His words make my ears burn and my body shudder. So shameless, Alnitak has no filters whatsoever. His lips trace the silver streak in my hair.

"Did you dye this?" He asks, curious this time, his lips now nibble the soft skin of my neck.

Magic, my mate’s mouth has magic which makes deep desires fizzle inside me like a sofa bottle. The ache in my thigh is so intense that I wish to scream and yet I don’t want his lips to leave my neck. A soft bite he gives, making me let out a needy moan.

Before I can answer, the door opens and Mintaka enters in a horrible mood.

Quickly we break apart.

"Amaia, can you leave? I need to talk to my brother," he dismissively says, ignoring my existence and staring hard at his twin.

Alnitak offers me an apologetic look, but seeing Mintaka, I can guess he is not in the right state of mind.

The bond tugs me towards him. It aches in my chest seeing him struggle. But unlike Alnitak, Mintaka avoids me and doesn’t feel any such pull.

"Sure sure. I should sleep anyway. Need to get up early." I scramble out of the bed and Alnitak gives me a hug before letting me go. Bathing me in his sweet scent.

"Good night, Amaia. I will see you tomorrow."

I leave their room and head to mine. When I enter, Kacir has already gone to sleep, as usual facing towards the window.

But an excited squeak greets me. It’s Zille, sitting on the small wooden house Kacir has arranged for him. He is watching me with his intelligent eyes.

"Hey! Zille...!" I extend my hand and he hops right onto it. Bringing him closer, I let him rest on my shoulder, and he rubs his beak on the side of my face.

"You hungry?" Moving forward I pour out some food for him from the small container. Quickly, he climbs back and begins to eat.

I watch him with a smile for a while before grabbing my nightsuit and heading to the bathroom to change.

Once done, I slip into my bed and sleep overpowers me almost instantly.

The next morning comes with a surprise I would have never seen coming. I had planned to spend all of my free time in the library to try to find a way to break the curse on Rigel. Anything that could help me see him again and set him free.

We are standing in the training ground, waiting for Alnilam to begin our session. He arrives, but not alone, and the ground almost slips from underneath my feet, seeing his companion. Clad in a white and blue uniform with a Pegasus drawn on the chest standing before me is Rigel. The uniform is stretched against his perfect build. He is not as muscular as the twins but has a lean athletic body.

His midnight black hair is half tied back from the top of his head. The shadows which covered his face and neck have completely disappeared, maybe they are hiding on another part of his body.

Tall, handsome and dangerous, he stands beside Alnilam and watches me with his carmine-shaded eyes. The tenderness is craftily masked by a sheen of indifference. He appears different, not broken and helpless but confident.

How is he here?

Did someone let him out?

Is he mad at me that I didn’t rescue him?

His eyes refuse to budge from me so Alnitak places his huge arm around my shoulder, staring back. A torturous smile slips on Rigel’s lips.

"Unfortunately, Zhou Chan had to drop out due to some personal reasons. So Guild Pegasus has a new member. Ezran Thadre. Make him feel welcome," Alnilam gives a brief introduction and I just can’t take my eyes away from him.

Ezran? Is he using a fake name or did he give me the wrong one?

Was it a test that I failed by Alnilam? Maybe I am not his mate at all and that was all planned.

Although I can’t feel the mate bond with him like I do with the rest of my mates, my magic always goes haywire in his proximity—trying to reach him, connect with him. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶

Could that be another ploy? A trick?

I have a billion questions but no answers.

An ache erupts in my heart thinking that everything he said to me was a lie.

What I saw and heard could have been an illusion. He is a vampire and vampires are known for causing illusions to trick people.

"Hi!" He says in his deep, magnetic voice, but his peepers stay on me, especially at the point where Alnitak is holding me.

"Hey!" A few of us greet him. The members of Guild Pegasus gather around him, especially Ramian.

"A new recruit? Who even is he?" Mintaka murmurs to his brother who just shrugs his large shoulders.

"Bites me but the way he is staring at Amaia is not something I am appreciating." Alnitak narrows his eyes at Rigel.

With one final look at me, he turns his attention towards his new guildmates.

Whatever, after the training session I am going to get some answers. And if he has been playing with my feelings, there is going to be hell to pay.
