Pretending to Cultivate in Kindergarten-Chapter 369: Business Talk
Lin Zhengran sat in the executive chair, continuing to review this month’s work documents.
Meanwhile, somewhere else, Jiang Jingshi was also busy with her temporary secretary duties.
“Boss... was my work today satisfactory to you?”
Flipping through the documents, Lin Zhengran deliberately replied,
“Don’t talk. Just focus on your work.”
Jiang Jingshi’s cheeks flushed red. She didn’t dare say another word, simply replying gently in her secretary tone,
“Yes, sir…”
At the same time, at the entrance of Zhengshi Company—
An Audi slowly pulled up from the distance, cautiously parking along the roadside.
A man and a woman got out of the car—they were a married couple in their thirties, both looking worn out from travel.
The man wore a suit, and the woman had dressed up properly as well.
“Honey, you’ve got everything?”
The woman nodded,
“Yeah, don’t worry. But wow, this company really is huge.”
She looked up at the towering seven-story building in front of them.
The man observed and nodded too,
“This is a real big company. If we can close the deal today, we won’t have to worry about losses this year.”
“We don’t even know them personally. Let’s just hope nothing goes wrong.”
The man seemed a bit nervous,
“It should be fine. Everything’s been arranged.”
The couple strode up to the security booth. The husband spoke first,
“Hey, brother. I’m here to meet with Director Liu to talk business. My surname’s Han.”
The security guard glanced at them—he could tell they were visitors. Their accents clearly marked them as non-locals.
“Looking for Director Liu? Which one? The head of our administrative department?”
“Yes, that’s the one.”
“Why are you talking business with the admin department though?”
The man chuckled,
“Someone else helped us arrange it.”
“Alright then, I’ll call him for you. Just wait a moment.”
“Thanks.”
After making the call, the guard relayed the message,
“All set. Someone will be down to meet you. Just follow her in and fill out the registration form.”
“Thanks a lot.”
While filling out the form, the man pulled out a cigarette from his pocket,
“Here, have a smoke.”
The guard accepted it with a chuckle. The guy seemed pretty easygoing, so he struck up a conversation,
“Judging by your accent, you’re not from around here? From the south? You two are married?”
The couple exchanged a look. The man replied,
“Yeah. My wife and I just got here last night. Drove two days.”
“That must’ve been rough.”
“That’s business for you.”
They chatted a bit after filling out the form. The guard resumed his post, and the couple waited for someone to come down from the office.
During the wait, the man turned to his wife,
“After we wrap this up, let’s go visit Wenwen, alright? It’s on the way.”
His wife nodded,
“Sure. Once we’re done, I’ll give Wenwen a call.”
No one else recognized the couple, but if Lin Zhengran or Han Wenwen were here, they would’ve instantly realized—
this husband and wife who’d traveled all the way from the south to discuss business were Han Wenwen’s uncle and aunt.
The southern market hadn’t been doing well this year, and the couple had pulled every string they could, giving out countless gifts, just to get a chance to meet with Zhengshi Company’s admin director.
After a short wait, a young woman came down from the office. The uncle quickly stepped forward.
The girl asked,
“Mr. Han, right? You’re here to see Director Liu?”
“Yes.”
“Our Director Liu is in a meeting and might take a while. I’ll take you upstairs first.”
“No problem at all.”
She led the uncle and aunt into Zhengshi Company and into the elevator.
Looking at the grand and impressive building, the couple couldn’t help but feel nervous.
This business deal would determine their entire year’s performance. The uncle had tapped into countless connections and handed out many gifts just for this chance to meet the admin director.
There could be no slip-ups.
They were soon led to the administrative office, where the girl asked them to wait on the couch.
The couple nodded humbly and didn’t say much.
About ten minutes later, a man in his forties walked briskly into the admin department. This was none other than Director Liu.
The uncle hadn’t seen him before, so he stayed seated.
Director Liu asked his staff,
“Didn’t someone say they were here to see me?”
The girl who’d brought them up glanced over,
“They’re here! Right there on the couch.”
Director Liu turned around and saw the couple. novelbuddy-cσ๓
Only then did the uncle realize this was the man he was here for. He quickly stood up and extended his hand,
“You must be Director Liu? Hello, hello, I’m Han. I called you yesterday.”
Director Liu shook his hand casually,
“Mr. Han, is it? Alright, let’s talk outside.”
The three of them headed to a quiet spot outside the office.
Director Liu said,
“I’m really busy, so let’s keep this short. Did you bring your samples? Let me take a look. Tell me how much you’re selling them for. If the price is reasonable, I’ll connect you to procurement.”
The aunt quickly took out a packet of mechanical parts from her bag,
“Yes, we brought them. Please take a look. The quality’s excellent, and we’re only asking 300 a set—well below market price.”
“That’s too expensive,” Director Liu said after a glance. He clearly knew the price was already very low, but still said,
“Too pricey. Lower it.”
The uncle replied,
“It’s already very cheap. At that price, we’re barely making anything.”
“If I say it’s expensive, it’s expensive. Don’t tell me you’re not making money—I know better. You two came all this way and didn’t even plan your pricing properly? If that’s the case, I can’t help you.”
“This...”
The aunt glanced at her husband, who nervously took out a document envelope from his bag and handed it over.
“This really isn’t expensive. We worked so hard to get in touch with you. Please do us a favor and help us connect with procurement.”
Director Liu looked around to make sure no one was watching, then took the envelope and peeked inside. His expression eased into a smile.
“Alright, alright. You two seem decent enough. I’ll help connect you. Just remember, your product isn’t easy to move, and not many companies can buy in bulk. But let me be clear—I’m only helping you make contact. Whether the deal goes through is on you.”
The uncle had been nodding humbly the whole time, but now looked confused and chuckled,
“But... we’re already meeting you. How could it not go through?”
Director Liu frowned,
“What kind of attitude is that? You think just anyone can get through to our procurement department? We work with regular partners, alright? Or do you want me to just give your stuff back and let you try on your own?”
The aunt quickly stepped in when she saw him handing it back,
“No, no. My husband’s just not good with words. Don’t be mad. Please just help us make the connection—we’ll handle the rest. Thank you.”
“Now that’s more like it. Your wife’s much sharper than you. Head over to the fourth-floor procurement department now—someone will see you. Both of our senior executives are in today, and I’ve got a lot on my plate, so I won’t be joining you. And you know what you should and shouldn’t say, right?”
The uncle awkwardly nodded,
“Of course, of course. Thanks so much for your help.”
The aunt chimed in,
“Take care, Director Liu.”
Director Liu strode back toward the admin department, envelope in hand.
The slightly timid uncle sighed,
“Doing business is so hard.”
The aunt comforted him,
“That’s just how it is when you need someone’s help. You get used to it. Let’s go see what they say at procurement.”
They took the elevator down, while back upstairs, Director Liu returned to his office.
Soon after, Pan Lin walked in with Han Wenwen.
The moment Director Liu saw Pan Lin, his previously brisk and authoritative demeanor vanished, replaced by deference.
“Secretary Pan? What brings you here? And this is...?”
Pan Lin said sternly,
“Director Liu, let me introduce you. This is Han Wenwen. She’ll be President Lin’s personal secretary from now on, handling all matters related to him.”
