Chapter 48: Visiting The Lower Realm’s Academy...
Kranos returned to his apartment after sharing a few drinks with Ross. The warmth of their conversation still lingered in his mind. As soon as he stepped inside, he laid down—not because he was tired, but because it had been a long time since he’d truly slept peacefully.
The next day he got up, he still had roughly about a year so he had to make an impact on this world before leaving
His first thought was to investigate whether there were any academies, sects, or clans in this city. If so, perhaps he could aid them in their cultivation using the mana stones he had collected.
After walking through the bustling streets, Kranos soon found himself in front of the City Lord’s Mansion—where Ju Ming now resided. To his surprise, the gates were open. Without hesitation, he stepped inside.
As soon as he entered, he saw Ju Ming staring at his parent’s portrait while seemingly in deep thought.
Kranos didn’t disturb him at first, waiting patiently before clearing his throat after some time had passed.
"Cough, cough."
Ju Ming snapped out of his daze, quickly wiping away the tears at the corners of his eyes. Turning around, he offered a faint smile and gestured toward the inner hall.
"Young friend Kranos, what brings you here?" he asked as they walked.
Kranos didn’t waste time and explained his intention clearly.
"So you’re inquiring whether there’s something akin to an academy or sect," Ju Ming said thoughtfully. Ju had already informed him of Kranos’ mysterious identity of not being from this world so he could somewhat understand the line of questioning.
"Previously, each city functioned as its own sect. But after the fall of most cities, we centralized our efforts. Now, this safe haven is the only one left, and we’ve adopted an academy system." There was a hint of pride in his tone.
"Come, I’ll show you the academy."
With those words, Ju Ming summoned a magical sword—one that had once belonged to his grandfather—and soared into the sky. Kranos, lacking a flying sword of his own, utilized his spatial flash to teleport rapidly in pursuit.
In the blink of an eye, they traversed half the city. Soon, a sprawling complex came into view, resembling a miniature city within the heart of the safe haven. At the front gate, the academy’s name was inscribed in bold, ancient characters.
Kranos widened his eyes in surprise.
Ju Ming chuckled, noticing his expression.
"We were in the outskirts before, where our top experts reside in case of a sudden war. But the academy is located here, in the heart of the city. It’s a safer location, though we still have powerful cultivators stationed here for protection."
Kranos nodded, silently praising the strategic thinking. As they landed gently on a grassy expanse in front of the academy gate, two guards stepped forward.
The two guards immediately released their auras trying to stop them from taking another step, To Kranos’ surprise, both guards were at the Foundation Establishment realm.
Their auras were also quite strong but he barely felt any pressure after all he was now in the Golden Core realm, Ju Ming also seemed to have stepped into the Golden Core Realm.
The city lord turned to Kranos with a shocked expression.
"Young friend... You...?" He was speechless for a moment before shaking his head and addressing the guards.
"Inform the principal that the City Lord is here," Ju Ming said as he pulled out a golden insignia from his robes and tossed it to them.
The burly, bald guard caught it with both hands. His expression changed immediately, recognizing it as the authentic insignia of the City Lord.
He gave a respectful nod to his companion and dashed inside, while the remaining guard respectfully guided Ju Ming and Kranos through the gate.
What greeted Kranos was an expansive inner courtyard surrounded by five distinct buildings.
The first two buildings were for both students in the Qi Condensation and Foundation Establishment realms, respectively. The third was the Book Pavilion, filled with techniques and knowledge. Next was a massive training ground, likely used for martial arts and technique sparring. The final structure was the elder quarters.
A few minutes later, the guard returned—this time with a refined, middle-aged man who looked to be in his forties. His presence was composed, exuding the calm of someone who had seen much of life.
The man bowed slightly.
"City Lord, this elder pays his respects," the man whom kranos assumed was the principal immediately spoke up.
Ju Ming nodded at him, "Koria, you are doing quite well, come, show me the outstanding talents you have nurtured over the years, I have something special for them," saying so Ju Ming glanced slightly at kranos seeking his confirmation to which he nodded.
Koria’s eyes lit up at the city lord’s words and he immediately led them enthusiastically towards the training ground, while they were walking he informed Ju Ming about what had been happening as of late.
Soon they reached the training ground, When they arrived, Kranos saw several youths in the training ground —some were around his physical age, while others were older—sparring in the training ground.
Koria shouted at them with a loud voice as soon as they reached the training courtyard, "Everyone, this is the city lord and he has brought something special for everyone." as soon as he finished speaking the cultivators who were sparring immediately stopped and went towards Kranos and the others, bowing slightly to the city lord.
Ju Ming smiled slightly then spoke, "Everyone, I trust you have been training well, I have also heard about the competition last month, congratulations to the winners, you’ve impressed me to a large extent."
After he finished praising them, he immediately delved into serious matters, "I have brought a friend of mine to help you advance your cultivation by leaps and bounds, how long he will teach you won’t matter but just gain as much as you can in the meantime."
